That would require a Constitutional convention, wouldn’t it ?

Good plan. Out country would be so much better off if Scalia and Thomas had been forced to retire during Clinton or Obama’s term /sarc.

I am completely against this.

Until one party or the other, stops exporting jobs everywhere else but America, we are greatly served by a supreme court which doesn’t change much at all.

GOP there is one important issue, and NEITHER PARTY is paying attention to it yet.

Bring back jobs to America.

Then we can talk about changing (or not changing) our supreme court.

But for the time being, leave them entirely alone please.

Just my humble opinion.

Give Congress term limits first, then we’ll talk.

Yes, imagine 8-year terms.

Rehnquist, appointed 1972 by Nixon replaced by Carter in 1980.

Scalia, appointed 1986 by Reagan replaced by Clinton in 1994.

Kennedy, appointed 1988 by Reagan, replaced by Clinton in 1996.

Ruth Buzzi Ginsburg, appointed 1993 by Clinton would’ve reappointed by Dubya in 2001 because of a Dem Senate.

Breyer, appointed in 1994, would’ve been reappointed by Dubya in 2002 again because of a Dem Senate.

Clarence Thomas, appointed 1991 by Bush Sr. replaced by Clinton in 1999 (and it would’ve been by then-Deputy Atty Gen. Eric Holder, for whom Dubya would’ve had to reappoint in 2007 for fear of being labeled a racist and with a Dem Congress).

Chief Justice Roberts, appointed 2005 by Dubya, would’ve been replaced by Zero in 2013.

Alito, appointed 2006 by Dubya, replaced by Zero in 2014.

A good chance we’d have had an all 9 Democrat SCOTUS today with that notion.

Way to go Huckster, the stupid keeps right on rollin’.

The life long term was created so that when they expired, they would not be indebted to anyone for a job.

So 2 or 3 CONSERVATIVES are forced off the Court, with Obama as President. Not sure if I’m ready to board that train.

I’d MUCH RATHER allow for Congressional Review. Maybe an Amendment that says ALL DECISIONS are subject to Congressional review and that if 60% of both houses vote to overturn, then it is overturned.

At a MINIMUM it would force the Democrats to support some of the crap, like Kelo, rather than hiding behind the courts, as they have done for the past 50 years.

With all due respect to Mr. Huckabee, please consider the following.

The main problem with the corrupt federal government is not corrupt justices imo. Please bear with the following explanation.

I’m sure that patriots are well aware that whatever is screwed up in DC then Bush did it, or so corrupt Democrats would like for everybody to think.

On the other hand, patriots need to consider that if they start blaming everything, including the faces on the Supreme Court, on the ill-conceived 17th Amendment, then they will probably be at least partly correct most of the time.

So let’s amend the Constitution to give Mr. Huckabee term limits on Supreme Court justices. But since we are now well aware that the corrupt Senate cannot be trusted to work with the House to remove impeached government leaders from office, Mr. Huckabee’s amendment needs to include the following provision. His amendment needs a provision which optionally gives 2/3 of the state legislatures the power to remove bad-apple federal government leaders, including activist justices, from office.

The 17th Amendment needs to disappear.

No one ever expected the Supreme Court to have the power it is exercising.

I am SO happy that grifters such as Huckabee were not around to be among our nation’s founding fathers. He’s an absolute disgrace.

This F(H)uckabee chant is every bit as wrong as was FDR’s when he tried to ‘pack’ the court with a couple more Justices so he could have a majority. And at this point, I do not want him in a position to be nominating Supremes.

Term limits for justices is a waste of time and legislative effort.
The Constitution already has a mechanism for dealing with a Supreme Court that is stacked to favor one party over another. And it has been used by Presidents in the past to fix things.
Nothing is sacred about 9 justices. The current President simply appoints justices to the court until things are brought back into balance. We’ve had as few as 7 justices and as many as 17.
