Apple CEO Tim Cook on Indiana Bill: 'There's something very dangerous happening' in America
Business Inisder via Washington Post ^ | 03/29/2015 | Tim Cook

Posted on 03/30/2015 8:07:42 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

There's something very dangerous happening in states across the country.

A wave of legislation, introduced in more than two dozen states, would allow people to discriminate against their neighbors. Some, such as the bill enacted in Indiana last week that drew a national outcry and one passed in Arkansas, say individuals can cite their personal religious beliefs to refuse service to a customer or resist a state nondiscrimination law.

Others are more transparent in their effort to discriminate. Legislation being considered in Texas would strip the salaries and pensions of clerks who issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples — even if the Supreme Court strikes down Texas' marriage ban later this year. In total, there are nearly 100 bills designed to enshrine discrimination in state law.

These bills rationalize injustice by pretending to defend something many of us hold dear. They go against the very principles our nation was founded on, and they have the potential to undo decades of progress toward greater equality.

America's business community recognized a long time ago that discrimination, in all its forms, is bad for business. At Apple, we are in business to empower and enrich our customers' lives. We strive to do business in a way that is just and fair.

That's why, on behalf of Apple, I'm standing up to oppose this new wave of legislation — wherever it emerges. I'm writing in the hopes that many more will join this movement. From North Carolina to Nevada, these bills under consideration truly will hurt jobs, growth and the economic vibrancy of parts of the country where a 21st-century economy was once welcomed with open arms.

There is something very dangerous happening in states across the country.

Really, Tim? REALLY? Here's what's dangerous happening in states in this country. Leftist marxists and the gay mafioso are trying to impose their narrow views on the entire nation. They want more rights than everyone else.

Hey, Tim. Let me give you a clue how it works. Either everyone has equal rights and freedom of religion and speech under the US Constitution or no one does. Some groups don't get more equal rights or freedoms than the rest of us do.

You'd think someone as smart as it takes to to be the CEO of a large corporation could see that his own remarks are problematic. What, is he gay too?

I am going back to droid, for a droid is more free open source than the I-Phone which is funny cause one is open and free to modify and the other is controlled.

Apple has always been very big on that fascist level of control regarding their products. I suspect it is their corporate mindset.

I think where this went bad is that the left is insisting on everyone being up in everyone else’s business. You see that way things that weren’t broke now have to be fixed in an inexorable drive toward removing tax exempt status from the church.

Human beings need privacy, we are not from a hive, and bad (really bad!) groupthink things happen to us when we try to engage in hive mentality.

You do what you need to do Timmy. FYI - On behalf of my conscience, which is grounded by a set of moral absolutes, I'll be replacing my old 4s with a Samsung or LG and my wife will be doing the same.

Freedom of Religion is in fact one of the VERY PRINCIPLES our nation was actually founded on....

The board better reign in this fairy dolt.

He is there to increase share holder value and that does not include promoting his queerness.

Angie’s List just said today they are holding off on their 40mm headquarters in Indiana... let them move.

Tim Cook thinks that if a Jewish Delicatessen doesn’t provide Catering Services for Nazi Parade’s and Muslim Celebrations of the Holocaust that they should be Sued out of Business.

Awfully Gay of him.

We have individual liberty. We have the liberty to adhere to the properly approved opinions. We also have religious liberty; we can attend the church of our choice, so long as that church meets in the approved building during approved church hours and doesn’t speak doctrine that deviates from the approved line of thought.

Isn’t freedom wonderful, comrade?

Lost in the wash of the Indiana hates gays chatter is that their law was fashioned after the federal law and one that 20 other states already have in place. By the way Billy Clinton signed the federal law and passed the Senate 97-3. Who were those senators voting yes?

With all the Gay hand wringing going on over this Bill, you would think Indiana just outlawed the Manufacture and Sale of Astroglide, KY Jelly and Vaseline.

I am not an admirer of Steve Jobs. I think he is more hype and lottery winner than a "talent."

Attempting to do even “tolerance” without a faith freedom background will not be able to support its own weight. It will be a perpetual hypocrisy. It will last only until the next public brouhaha.

And yes, they don’t even know history.

I’ll post what I did on another recent thread ... here on Free Republic ... quoting it below ...

— — — — —

AND ... to go into it further, like I did on the other thread and fine tune it for you, since you don’t seem to remember it, I’ll go over it again, and put more detail in there for you ... :-) ...

As I said before, I’m not quitting Apple products, because they’re too good. I buy my products for how good of a job they do for me, not because of the company politics, or who they donate to, or employees at the company, no matter what level they’re at.

In fact most of the time I have no idea what their political persuasions are ... when I buy gas, if I get a coffeemaker from a manufacturer, or the pharmacy I go to, the bakery, grocery store, the shopping mall ... and you name it ... I don’t know and I don’t care ... because I’m buying a product for myself, in order to meet my requirements, and no one else’s requirements!

I’m not going to get all twisted up with the products and services I buy, with politics. You can but I’m not doing it!

And when I work at a company, I don’t expect to have an entire subgroup of the population complaining against me “in that job” because of my political and religious and sexual persuasions, and I don’t expect them to gripe at me for whatever the company says. I expect to be judged in my job environment strictly on the ability to do my job properly, and perhaps better than anyone else.

If I get involved in my own time ... which I do ... then we can all argue about it on my own time, but not on the basis of my job or my work or the goods that I am making or selling on the market! If I run the company and there is policy that you don’t like, well, then complain away through company channels, if you want ... I PERSONALLY DON’T CARE!

I figure that I can get involved personally (with whatever my own personal political or religious or sexual preferences are) on my own time. And the company can handle its own policies, too. My work remains separate, the company remains separate, and the products (and/or services) are the only thing I care about, PERIOD!

OH ... BY THE WAY ... I’m typing this on an iPad ... LOL ...

— — — — —

AND ... I’ll “fine tune it further” for you!

I heard about the Chick-Fil-A hulla-ballo a few months back. Before that time, I had never in my life stepped foot into their place. But, I thought, okay ... I’ve never been there, I’ll step in and see what their stuff is like. I thought I would add a few dollars to their till, for good measure, and see if their stuff was worth buying.

WELL ... let me tell you ... after trying them out a few times ... I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK TO CHICK-FIL-A! Their stuff is mediocre at the best. I won’t bother with them again! I don’t care what they promote or think ... if it’s CRAP PRODUCT, you won’t find me in there ... PERIOD.

Let’s go on down the line ... I heard about some company that won a supreme court case in regards to Obamacare. That’s great. I’m glad to hear it. Is that going to get me to go in there, just because they won a Supreme Court case?! NO WAY! I didn’t go in there before and I don’t intend on going in there later on. If someone I’m with wants to go in there, I’ll go with them, because I don’t have anything against them, but I don’t have “anything for them” in regards to their products either. I’ve never wanted to go in there, at ANY TIME IN MY LIFE! So, why am I going to go in there now?!

I’ll tell you what I do ... however ... in order to SUPPORT ORGANIZATIONS if I see some that are worthy of it, I’ll GIVE THEM MONEY as a donation!

When I buy products, I’ll buy it for what I consider a FAIR EXCHANGE — my money for their product, and I don’t care WHO THEY ARE. I’ll buy from the devil, if he’s selling something for a fair price. I get what I want, and he gets the money ... and that’s it.

NOW ... for organizations that GET MONEY FROM ME ... because I want to support them ... I’m going to suggest a few that YOU SUPPORT with your money, as a DONATION.

You should support ...

Olive Tree Ministries - Jan Markell
http://www.olivetreeviews.org

Hope for Today - David Hocking
http://www.davidhocking.org

World of the Bible Ministries - Dr. Randall Price
http://www.worldofthebible.com

Pre-Trib Research Center - Dr. Tommy Ice
http://www.pre-trib.org

Institute of Creation Research
http://www.icr.org

Answers in Genesis - Ken Ham
https://answersingenesis.org

Edmond Faith Bible Church - Dr. Mark Hitchcock
http://edmondfaithbible.com

First Baptist Dallas - Dr. Robert Jeffress
http://www.firstdallas.org

You donate to them, and then you can talk to me about other companies. Until then I don’t want to hear it, until you put your “money where your mouth is” in terms of SUPPORTING organizations with donated money and NOT products (which is merely exchange of goods and services for money and nothing more!).

If you don’t want to donate money to those organizations that I listed, then YOU ARE NOT WORTH TALKING TO ... as far as I’m concerned. I don’t want anything to do with you; you’re worthless!

Could be, but I am amazed how the Left is able to dominate the conversation so easily.

They easily control and manipulate all the Social Media outlets and always seem to get their message out, whether true or not.

This does not bode well for our side since once again we are on the Defense, rather than the Offense as they are.

I don’t care a bit about his “gayness” either! ... LOL ... AND ... I don’t care a bit about someone else being a devil-worshipper or a Muslim or a Jesus-hater or a Mormon-lover (although these guys are idiots, really ...) or even if it’s the “devil himself”.

If I’m getting product or services, I’m exchanging money for product or services and I get what I want.

ON THE OTHER HAND ... if I’m supporting an organization for their political or religious aims and goals and NOT for their PRODUCTS, then I’m going to be giving them MONEY FOR NOTHING!!

And that’s exactly what I do, give organizations MONEY FOR NOTHING! Here’s list of organizations to SUPPORT and give money for nothing! Support the list in Post #57!!
