'Insurgent' Star Shailene Woodley Eats Ants & June Bugs: Calls Them The ‘Future of Food’
Andrew Breitbart's Big Hollywood ^ | Kipp Jones | 30 Mar 2015

Insurgent co-star Shailene Woodley is cementing her reputation as a modern-day hippy. The actress, who recently attended a premiere for the aforementioned film barefoot, has now disclosed she likes to eat insects.

While answering a series of questions for Nylon Magazine’s 16th anniversary, Woodley, 23, disclosed her lifestyle choices, answering questions about her favorite color, her dreams, and yes, her unusual diet.

“I’ve eaten ants and that was great, uh, and June bugs that was great,” she said eagerly. “I think the future of food is in insects, so we’ll see what happens.”

Woodley doesn’t just eat bugs, though, as she told the mag she also likes to eat pig’s feet: “I had pigs feet in Spain a few months ago and that was awesome. They’re so gelatinous and felt great for my stomach.”

The actress also admitted she will absolutely never “plant a genetically engineered seed,” after stating: “If I could, I would grow a pair of wings and fly.”

Woodley grabbed headlines last week after she was photographed walking down a New York City sidewalk without shoes.

I’ve eaten live grubs. Just hold the head and bite down right behind it. Not exactly a great texture but not gross. Great protein. Desperate times...

That’s how the SAS and Delta train. They literally eat worms, ants and slimy crap, but the nutrition value of these insects are high. Like one Green beret said, ‘there ain’t no McDonald’s in the jungle”
