State Department rejects call for Iran deal to affirm Israel's 'right to exist' (Marie Harf)

A State Department official dismissed a plea Friday from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the Iran nuclear agreement include clear recognition of his nation's "right to exist," declaring negotiations are "only about the nuclear issue."

State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf, in a terse response to a question about Netanyahu's concerns, told reporters, "This is an agreement that is only about the nuclear issue" -- a comment that indicates the Obama administration is not looking to enshrine Israel's security into a final agreement.

Harf, for her part, suggested the talks are complicated enough already.

"This is an agreement that doesn't deal with any other issues, nor should it," she said.

The Israeli prime minister, though, made the call for the "right to exist" measure during brief remarks early Friday. He blasted the Iran framework deal and said his Cabinet is uniformly opposed to it. He closed his brief address by demanding that any final agreement include "a clear and unambiguous Iranian recognition of Israel's right to exist."

The statement was prompted by reported statements from a top Iranian military official, who was quoted saying "erasing Israel" off the map is "non-negotiable."

To that, Netanyahu said: "The survival of Israel is non-negotiable."

Do you deny Israel’s right to exist?

A quick review of his postings screams “MOLE!”

The pattern of concern trolling is quite obvious when put into a sindle thread.

If you read the transcript from Obama and the transcript of the Iranian chief negotiator, you will see there is No Deal! Paragraph for paragraph, when you line up the similar talking points, they are in total opposition. The most glaring, Obama said the sanctions will be phased, the Iranian said they abated immediately. The Iranian said they gave up nothing, Obama says everything will be cut back. The Iranian accuses Obama of lying (what’s new?) with the fact sheet. And why were the Iranian crowds jubilant over the “deal?” They heard a different story. (But we are used to those silly differences here...you can keep your doctor, I wouldn’t vote for anything that caused one thin dime more in spending,,,and we are supposed to believe Obama on this?). Joe Wilson got it right and his censure should be retracted by the [huge majority] Republicqn House.

This is the problem on the right... we keep thinking they are ignorant... they just lack information... if they only understood then they wouldnt say or do such things. Nothing will happen as long as the right has that presupposition... THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING... AND THEY INTENTIONALLY LIE ABOUT IT. THERE! NOW WHAT WILL YOU DO ABOUT IT?

If it’s only about the nuclear issue, then why are economic sanctions part of the discussion...

This Israel?

The Bible also documents multiple instances where they were given over to their enemies in response to the UN-godly behavior of their state-establishment.

Seems to me that the Iranian threat to obliterate Israel is VERY MUCH part of any nuclear discussion with Iran.

Agree. How can it NOT be? Harf is truly a harf-a$$ed idiot.

Obama negotiator: “Look, let’s talk about Item 12: ‘Israel must die, to a person. All the history of Israel must be wiped out. All across the world, Jews must be tortured to death.” How can you object to this, Mr. Netanyahu? Are you some sort of anti-Arab racist? What the hell is wrong with you?

“If you take out Saddam, Saddam’s regime, I guarantee you that it will have enormous positive reverberations on the region…the test and the great opportunity and challenge is not merely to effect the ouster of the regime, but also transform that society and thereby begin too the process of democratizing the Arab world.” —Netanyahu, 2002

The same epic-fail thinking that dominated the Bush WH in 2002.

He was wrong, but he still fights for Israel, better than anyone has in a long time.

Yes, he fights for Israel, and yes he is right about Iran.

But he was wrong about Iraq and so was Bush. And to me that doesn’t mean “therefore he’s wrong about Iran”, to be what it means is this:

The Iraq invasion was a huge blunder which keeps reverberating into the future. He was part of that blunder. For that matter, so was I, in that I supported it at the time (though my support, of course, had no material consequence on anything).

I’m just saying, we are all suffering from the Iraq Blunder.

It’s what put a muslim in the WH.
