Where were the sinners, what were they, when Christ died for them? When Christ has already given us the gift of his death, who is to doubt that he will give us the gift of his own life? Why does our human frailty hesitate to believe that mankind will one day live with God? --St. Augustine. Sermon.
The real objection to Christianity is not hell, sin, or death, but heaven and eternal life. Chesterton once remarked that the difficulty with Christianity, when seriously examined, was that it was too good to be true. One might turn this observation around to read: Since I do not want Christianity to be true, it is good that I do not know the evidence that it is true. And why would anyone not want Christianity to be true? The most obvious answer is that Its truth would require me to reckon with it in my life. Thus, it is better that the argument or evidence for the truth of Christianity be not known, best that it be ridiculed or impeded so that no one really has a chance seriously to consider the validity of its claims on intelligence.

Killing Jesus was a huge disappointment
I found “killing Jesus” boring.
the muslim actor playing Jesus was almost unintelligible and portrayed as angry and uptight ( a typical muz )
We all caused His death. He was not submited to God’s justice but to man’s.
Repent requires one to not be barbaric, to not be snob.
In a way, to the world, Christianity sounds like cheating.
Certainly to the devil it is cheating. Cheating him of what he thought he had earned fair and square, the company of all mankind in hell.
Repenting “to what” is the issue.
Repent simply means to turn. But that needs an object upon which to be fixed.
Repent unto Christ means these virtues.
Repent unto the devil means vices.
I watched it too....oh my gosh it was terrible Imo...couldn’t stay engaged...and they not only missed significant details..but the actors didn’t seem to get their characters....rather tried to make them “modern” by the language and physical stances they took...and it did have an obvious catholic slant which is typical of Hollywood.
For me it just didn’t do it....even the script didn’t seem to flow smoothly from one scene to the other...
So to say it was a disappointment...well yes and then some.
” Too much of a good thing.......... is wonderful “- Mae West..
“it did have an obvious Catholic slant which is typical of Hollywood.”
In a positive way? I rarely if ever see any movies or television shows since the 70s from Hollywood or Manhattan which aren’t extremely negative and nasty towards Catholicism.
Catholic slant?
Oh, please fill me in on this “ Catholic Slant “...
This I just have to hear.
I couldn’t understand why they changed so many of the stories, it was so strange...and the fake beards were ridiculous, like I was watching a high school play.
It was awful. It could have been great, Ridley Scott is quite talented and Fox/Discovery were behind it, they could have done something almost as good as The Passion.

Just another anti-papist showing tolerance, that’s all...
Gotta LOVE the tolerance and lack of judgementalism of many proddies.
This web site has changed so much since I joined.
I once recommended it to folks I knew.
Now? No...not a chance. The Conservatives I know from church would be appalled by this site.
Its sad.
As you can see, I’ve been here a while too. In some ways I am ashamed by the behavior of a few members.
It’s still a pretty good site, but it’s nothing like the site that had Buckhead break the kerning/ Dan Rather /Bush National Guard story.
Pity.
Because it’s racism and discrimination to suggest that mohammed was wrong.
>> The real objection to Christianity is not hell, sin, or death, but heaven and eternal life.
nor
No, the “real” objection to Christianity is present life.
Christ came to solve a problem that a lot of people do not even recognize exists.
>> Christ came to solve a problem that a lot of people do not even recognize exists.
Well said.
...”In a positive way?”...
If you’re catholic it seemed so.
