Obama: Expecting Iran to Recognize Israel Under Nuclear Deal a ‘Misjudgment’
CNS News ^ | 04/06/2015 | Patrick Goodenough

(CNSNews.com) – Requiring Iran to recognize Israel as part of a comprehensive nuclear agreement would be a “fundamental misjudgment,” President Obama said on Monday, adding that the U.S. cannot depend on the nature of the regime in Tehran changing.

“The notion that we would condition Iran not getting nuclear weapons in a verifiable deal on Iran recognizing Israel is really akin to saying that we won’t sign a deal unless the nature of the Iranian regime completely transforms,” he said in an interview with NPR.

“And that is, I think, a fundamental misjudgment,” he added. “I want to return to this point: We want Iran not to have nuclear weapons precisely because we can’t bank on the nature of the regime changing. That’s exactly why we don't want to have nuclear weapons. If suddenly Iran transformed itself to Germany or Sweden or France then there would be a different set of conversations about their nuclear infrastructure.”

Obama was commenting on the nuclear understanding under negotiation between Iran and the P5+1 group – the U.S., Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany. Last Thursday in Lausanne, Switzerland, the two sides announced a framework comprehensive agreement, and negotiators now have three months to nail down a final text, complete with technical details.

The administration says the deal will shut off Iran’s pathways to a nuclear weapons capability, be tightly monitored, and that nuclear-related sanctions that are lifted under the agreement will be reimposed directly should Iran cheat.

But critics say the deal allows a regime that has proved itself untrustworthy to keep much of its nuclear infrastructure intact – albeit curtailed and monitored. They argue that it will be able to become a nuclear threshold state once a 10-15 year period of restrictions ends.

The destruction of arch-enemy Israel has long been a declared goal of the regime in Tehran, and Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is a leading critic of the P5+1/Iran agreement.

After Israeli government ministers discussed the framework agreement late last week, Netanyahu outlined the cabinet’s opposition to the deal, charging that it “would pose a grave danger to the region and to the world and would threaten the very survival of the State of Israel.”

“Iran is a regime that openly calls for Israel’s destruction and openly and actively works towards that end,” he said in a statement.

“Just two days ago, in the midst of the negotiations in Lausanne, the commander of the Basij security forces in Iran said this: ‘The destruction of Israel is non-negotiable.’

“Well, I want to make clear to all. The survival of Israel is non-negotiable. Israel will not accept an agreement which allows a country that vows to annihilate us to develop nuclear weapons, period,” Netanyahu said.

“In addition, Israel demands that any final agreement with Iran will include a clear and unambiguous Iranian recognition of Israel’s right to exist.”

-- The conversation between Obama and NPR’s Steve Inskeep will air on NPR’s Morning Edition on Tuesday, April 7.

I wonder, will Iran refrain from saying ‘death to America’ at least during the signing ceremony? It would be most embarrassing if Obama joined in with them.

You know he’s thinking it.

Sounds good to me. Of course I don’t look forward to the extermination of the Jews.

I sure wish we had a president who was on our side. Unfortunately, Obama has locked himself in the cockpit.

As part of any deal it would be a "misjudgement" on our part if we were to expect Iran to release the American prisoner languishing in confinement under sentence of death.

To Obama and his traitorous minions, the prisoner is expendable and of no importance. Only the Psycho-in-Chief's legacy counts in any deal with the Iranian devils.

The evil aura emanating from the White House and blanketing the nation is the true ecological disaster which will suffocate and strangle us all.

“The evil aura emanating from the White House and blanketing the nation is the true ecological disaster which will suffocate and strangle us all.”

Boy have you got that right. Obama is a psycho. He’s a sick, sick evil man, and it’s all coming out now because he doesn’t have to stand for election ever again and thus can do what he wants, regardless of the consequences to our country. And those advising him, Muzzie lover Valerie Jarrett who grew up in Iran, and racist Eric Holder in Justice, and the like, are equally evil and culpable in the attempted ruin of our once great nation.

I hope everyone knows just how great the importance to our way of life the election of a Republican to the Presidency in 2016 is, and can focus in on that fact in spite of whatever reservations one may have for the vulnerabilities or weaknesses of any Pub candidate. Because believe me, any Pub will not ruin our country by any stretch of the imagination to the extent of the damage that has been done already to it by this sicko that we have for a Dem president this very moment. And Hitlery will be no better and we all know it. Think and vote wisely in 2016 all my fellow Freepers. Our nation is at a crisis point.

Sounds like Barack is channelling Joe Biden.

One can only hope that Obama doesn't mistake Hassan Rouhani for a hot Pakistani fag-boy and grope him at their next meeting.

“Any” Pub candidate does not have the balls to do what is necessary to fix the problems. At one time I thought Rand might but he pissed that away in short order. Right now it is Cruz or Walker, period. Cruz stands his ground, Walker tends to wobble a bit if the end game is political expediency.

Cruz best exemplifies, in a political sense, that of Admiral David Farragut where the misquoted phrase of “Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead” comes from;

On August 5, 1864, Farragut won a great victory in the Battle of Mobile Bay. Mobile, Alabama, was then the Confederacy’s last major open port on the Gulf of Mexico. The bay was heavily mined (tethered naval mines were then known as “torpedoes”). Farragut ordered his fleet to charge the bay. When the monitor USS Tecumseh struck a mine and sank, the others began to pull back.

Farragut could see the ships pulling back from his high perch, where he was lashed to the rigging of his flagship, USS Hartford. “What’s the trouble?”, he shouted through a trumpet to USS Brooklyn. “Torpedoes”, was the shouted reply. “Damn the torpedoes.”, said Farragut, “Four bells, Captain Drayton, go ahead. Jouett, full speed.” The bulk of the fleet succeeded in entering the bay. Farragut triumphed over the opposition of heavy batteries in Fort Morgan and Fort Gaines to defeat the squadron of Admiral Franklin Buchanan.

This is an admission by BHO that Iran’s leaders do want to destroy Israel and he does not oppose that position.

If Iran messes with Israel, Tehran will get “fundamentally transformed,” I think.
