Unions fight to preserve Obama’s immigration actions, their members

Two of the country’s most powerful and politically influential labor unions are backing President Obama in the recent court challenge to his 2014 executive action on illegal immigration, saying they support the president’s effort because "undocumented workers" need more workplace protection and their participation helps the U.S. economy.

The AFL-CIO and the National Education Association on Monday each filed so-called amicus briefs in a federal appeals court case in which Texas and 26 other states are challenges the president’s 2014 memorandum on illegal immigration.

The memorandum essentially expands work authorization and delayed-deportation programs for illegal immigrants. And it provides similar opportunities for the parents of U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents.

The AFL-CIO’s 36-page brief essentially argues that Texas lacks the so-called “legal standing” to challenge the memorandum and that the administration didn’t violate procedural requirements in issuing the order.

However, the union also makes very clear its interest in the outcome of the proceedings.

“First, through existing collective bargaining relationships, AFL-CIO affiliates represent many undocumented workers in workplaces throughout the country,” according to the brief by the AFL-CIO, the country’s bigger union collective, with 56 unions representing roughly 12 million workers and retired workers....

A coalition of groups including the Service Employees International Union, the second-largest public service union and a big supporter of Democratic political candidates and organizations, filed an amicus brief in the original case.....

Obama’s DOJ Loses Another Round in Immigration Battle in Texas - badly singed for its misbehavior "..[Federal district court judge Andrew] Hanen cites the same provision of the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct that I discussed in my March 17 article here — the provision that requires complete “Candor toward the Tribunal.” Hanen acknowledges that “fabrications, misstatements, half-truths, artful omissions, and the failure to correct misstatements may be acceptable, albeit lamentable, in other aspects of life,” but says that in a court of law, “when an attorney knows that both the Court and the other side are relying on complete frankness, such conduct is unacceptable.” This is one of the most damning criticisms I have ever read about the behavior of Justice Department lawyers.

..Hanen then ordered DOJ to produce, by April 21, every draft of the “Advisory,” including all “metadata” that would show when each draft was prepared, and who prepared or edited it. He also ordered DOJ to produce the names of everyone who knew about the “Advisory” or the granting of the 100,000 deferrals. In light of Hillary Clinton’s deletion of all of her e-mails, it is also interesting that Hanen ordered that no e-mails, computer records, hard drives, or servers that have any information about this issue be “destroyed or erased.” Judge Hanen obviously wants to find out who knew about the misrepresentations made to the court. He may very well consider further sanctions against whoever was involved in this deception once he gets that information."....

Jan 26, 2015: “AUSTIN – Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton today announced that Tennessee and Nevada have officially joined the multi-state coalition led by Texas fighting President Obama’s illegal attempt to unilaterally grant amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants. The addition of these two states brings the total to 26, representing more than half the states in the Union.

“Texas is proud to lead a coalition that now includes a majority of the United States standing up against the President’s rogue actions,” said Attorney General Ken Paxton. “The momentum against the President’s lawlessness continues to build with Tennessee and Nevada joining the effort to protect our states from the economic and public safety implications of illegal amnesty. As President Obama himself has said numerous times, he lacks the authority to impose amnesty. His actions represent a blatant case of overreach and clear abuse of power.”

Joining Texas in the lawsuit are: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, West Virginia, Wisconsin.”

You are hearing that from Union leaders, not union members.
Union leaders want more members so they can get bigger salaries via more union membership dues..

“AP said Clinton will purportedly borrow from President Obama’s successful 2012 campaign against her. She will present her message as one of economic populism focused on middle-class families.

She will contrast this with Republicans, whom she will argue support the wealthy and elitist.”...

A good primer on what happened in WI and the aftermath:

2011 Wisconsin Protests "The 2011 Wisconsin protests were a series of demonstrations in the state of Wisconsin in the United States beginning in February involving at its zenith as many as 100,000 protesters opposing the 2011 Wisconsin Act 10, also called the "Wisconsin Budget Repair bill." Subsequently, anti-tax activists and other conservatives, including Tea Party advocates, launched small pockets of counter protests.

The protests centered on the Wisconsin State Capitol in Madison, with satellite protests also occurring at other municipalities throughout the state. Demonstrations took place at various college campuses, including the University of Wisconsin–Madison and the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. After the collective bargaining bill was upheld by the Wisconsin Supreme Court on June 14, the number of protesters declined to about 1,000 within a couple days.

The protests were a major driving force for recall elections of state senators in 2011 and 2012, the failed recall of Governor Scott Walker in 2012 and a contentious Wisconsin Supreme Court election in 2011.".....

Another part of this that few know about:

January 3, 2011 - Scott Walker assumes Office of Governor of Wisconsin.

June 27, 2011: Walker Revokes In-state Tuition For Undocumented Students Attending Univ And Colleges In Wisconsin - "On Sunday, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker (R) signed his two-year 2011-2013 budget, which included ending in-state tuition for undocumented students attending public universities and colleges. In-state tuition for undocumented students was approved two years ago by former Governor Jim Doyle (D) after the Hispanic community struggled for 10 years to pass it."...

Thanks. You know I was really impressed with Walker's accomplishments in WI. I made this up to taunt the Walker bashers.

Hussein wants to unionize the illegals which will effectively cut them out of the work force and relegate them to the status of welfare dependent Democrat voters. If they join the workforce and have responsibility for their own families and themselves their votes are not quite so predictable in the long term. Either way, so long as they are allowed to stay it destroys the society and the nation.

“The [Union] memorandum essentially expands work authorization and delayed-deportation programs for illegal immigrants.”

You know, in a NORMAL WORLD, wouldn’t this be a BIG RED FLAG? And WTH would Union Membership WANT this? Oh, most likely they DON’T, but it’s the GREED of Union ‘leadership’ on full display for all to see! Aarrgghhh!

Gawd, what a MESS we’re in!

And .. they want more members .. in order to deliver the needed dollars for any democrat who is running for office. Right now the tide is turning toward the republicans; and the unions can see the writing on the wall.

Remember, Scott Walker started a trend; getting unions out of government entities. I’ve been saying this for years and years. Government unions will only fund the democrats; after the democrat gets elected to run a department, then the unions will make the rules for the GOVERNMENT TO FOLLOW: NOBODY GETS FIRED .. they are put on leave WITH FULL PAY .. and then .. THEY JUST GET SHUFFLED TO ANOTHER DEPARTMENT.

This is the reason we have an IRS Department that is so corrupt they are keeping Americans from participating in the political process. And all those who participated in this treachery in the IRS - are NOT BEING FIRED; because the unions won’t allow it.

If private industry wants to put up with these crooks in the unions; so be it. But the American taxpayer/citizen should not have to FUND THE DEMOCRAT PARTY; while having no voice in government.

I would love to see Scott Walker make the rounds to other RED states and show them how to accomplish the same thing Scott did in Wisconsin. Sometimes, it takes somebody with a process or a plan to get the unions out of their state’s government. This is going to be crucial if America is to survive.
