A Texas veterinarian was fired after a Facebook photo showing her with her "first bow kill" -- a local cat -- went viral.

Dr. Kristen Lindsey bragged online that she killed a "feral" cat in her neighborhood in Brenham. She posted a photo on Wednesday, which shows her holding up the dead cat by an arrow protruding from its head, according to KBTX.

This is what happens when pet owners are irresponsible. When cats roam, they are far more likely to get hit by cars, poisoned, shot, trapped, diseased, infested with parasites, attacked by other animals, etc.

Hell, we have coyotes here in suburban Atlanta. I wouldn’t let my pet roam free, at least not one i wanted to live. Not to mention not being a dick to my neighbors.

Here is the “feral cat” in action with it’s owner.

She needs some protective gear - a leather apron - to keep them herself from getting injured by that bow string. Heh.

Study: Cats Kill Billions of Birds and Mammals Annually

It’s no secret that free-roaming cats are a problem in this country. As both an avid birder and bird hunter, it’s a topic of particular concern to me, as I live in a rural area and must contend with feral cats on a near-continuous basis. Last year I blogged about a study that showed what efficient killers domestic housecats are; how housecats and feral cats do a number on gamebirds; and the numerous studies that show the tremendous toll cats take on wildlife. But the results of a just-released three-year study conducted by Smithsonian and the US Fish & Wildlife Service make it clear that the problem is even larger than previously thought.

That’s pretty ****ed up. I would only shoot an animal if it presented a clear danger to myself, someone else, or my property or I needed food and I certainly wouldn’t call it something to brag about. Cold hearted, is what she is. She’s a vet? LOL... can you imagine taking your pet to someone like that?

Feral cats should be eliminated. Not clever to post it on social media, though!

I agree that many animal owners are irresponsible. My cats have never been allowed outside simply because I can’t control cars, thieves, crazies, other animals, or diseases.

In this case, I think we can agree the owner was not correct in letting the cat roam, however, this “vet” was the one that ended its life in a very cruel way. Then, it appears that she thought it would be cool to show off.

Cruel? Cat didn’t feel a thing, most likely.

My point was that you don’t actually have a point, you just want to stir the pot about this pet’s killing, by playing tough guy.

it is legal to kill dogs that are chasing deer here in Michigan.
As it should be - any dog running loose in an Eskimo village is shot on sight.

I was just going to post that.

What kind of veterinarian cannot tell the difference between a well kept pet cat, and a feral cat?

I enjoy archery but have never gone bow hunting. Can someone who’s familiar with it let us know just how “humane” it was to kill the cat that way? It seems to me the cat might have taken some time to die, which is a pretty sick thing to do, even if you really think you should eliminate feral cats. (FWIW, we do have former ferals on our property. We trapped, neutered and released them back in place, here on our place in the country. They’ve all figured out where the food comes from and become very friendly. I like having them here because they have FINALLY gotten rid of most of the gophers here, which were endemic!)

Great minds....etc etc.... Yep she has been spoiled by too much parental praise. Giving this no-talent a swollen ego and too high an opinion of herself. She said she “is awesome” .... Maybe she is bi-polar and gets manic?
