LAS VEGASSen. Ted Cruz on Friday took a shot at rival presidential contender Scott Walker for comments the Wisconsin governor has made regarding immigration policy.
Cruz opposes comprehensive immigration reform that includes a path to citizenship for the estimated 11-12 million illegal immigrants living in the United States. But the Texan is a big proponent of legal immigration and making adjustments to U.S. law that would facilitate more legal immigration. He criticized Walker for suggesting that he supported limiting legal immigration if it has a negative impact on the wages of American workers.
"There is considerable bipartisan agreement outside of Washington that we need to improve and streamline legal immigration so that we can remain a nation that welcomes and celebrates legal immigrants," Cruz said in an interview with the Washington Examiner during a brief campaign swing through Las Vegas.
"I think it is a mistake for any politician to on the one hand embrace amnesty, embrace a pathway to citizenship for those who are here illegally, and on the other hand seek to restrict or punish legal immigrants," Cruz continued. "I am the son of an immigrant who came legally from Cuba. [President Ronald] Reagan referred to legal immigrants as Americans by choice and there is no stronger advocate of legal immigration in the U.S. Senate than I am."
"I think the right approach is to secure the border, follow the rule of law and embrace and improve legal immigration," Cruz said.
Walker has conceded a change of heart on immigration policy as he gears up to launch a 2016 presidential bid. The governor, 47, previously supported a pathway to legal status for illegal immigrants. Now he is opposed.

Fighting losing battles? I’m glad you were not my company commander. His staying there would have not changed a thing and he was on record by voting against it in cloture in addition to his very public statements against her confirmation since then.
The final vote meant nothing especially when you already know the outcome of 10 RINO’s committed to vote for it, unless you happen to think that a Democrat was going to vote against her.
It has to be something in the DC smog.....everyone there must be breathing strange stuff.
Does that count as one of his accomplishments?
Do you even know what cloture is.
Cruz didn't want Lynch to even come up for a vote. That's far more important than the actual vote itself.
Just like Olympia Snowe could have killed Obamacare instead of being the lone Republican to let it come up for a vote and Democrats using every procedure in the book to pass it.
If he's one of the Republicans that voted against cloture, then yes, that's huge in my book.
This vile, leftist hack woman doesn't deserve debate, much less the vote itself.
Stopped being tricked by Republicans who vote to allow leftist nominees and leftist policies to move forward via colure only to vote against them and then beat their chests to the conservative base that they're conservative.
Ah, the ignorant masses who accept voting in the actual vote is more important than stopping the process to the vote proceed.
Why not admit that Cruz blew the vote (whether intentional or not is irrelevant)? He missed doing his day job. Just admit Cruz isnt perfect; dont try to justify the missed vote on something so crucial.
Why don't you get off of Cruz's back and get angry at the RINOs who both voted for cloture and voted to confirm Eric Holder's twin sister.
You hijacked your own thread?
This is what I care about.
Yesterday I gave an impassioned floor speech calling on Senators to stop this confirmation. The place to stop it was the cloture vote. Cloture requires 60 votes. Republicans have a majority. We have 54 Republican senators. Had Republicans simply stood together, Ms. Lynch would not be attorney general today. But unfortunately Republican leadership decided that it was not worth fighting to defend the rule of law. Loretta Lynch is attorney general today because Republican leadership decided they wanted her to be attorney general. And I said on the Senate floor yesterday there are a great many people across this country wondering why exactly did we have an election when we fought so hard in 2014, when a Republican Senate confirms the exact Attorney General Harry Reids Democratic senate would confirm? Can you name the last Republican senator that publicly called out the Republican Senate President, especially regarding procedural sleight of hand? I can't.-Sen. Ted Cruz
I support Cruz, but Walker has (IMHO) a better immigration policy. We need a moratorium on immigration so the nation can assimilate all it’s new “citizens”.

Sounds that way.
That sounds more impressive don't you think?
WALKERS PATH TO CITIZENSHIP FOR ILLEGALS, APRIL 24, 2015
When I asked if he supported a pathway to legal status, he said no, hed send them back to their country of origin and let them get in line with everybody else.
Yeah, they’d rather support Republicans who can drive up their ACU ratings by voting against the leftist nominee/policy in the final vote, rather than simply cutting them off at the knees and not allowing them to move forward in the first place.
Alexander
Burr
Capito
Corker

Gardner
Hatch
Roberts

Above the line voted for cloture, below voted for confirmation, except Hatch who voted for both
They are all Democrats in R jerseys and should be removed from office. They advance the lefts agenda under the guise of being Republicans.
The Click-it or Tickit Cruz Contingent?
I thought they were ‘The Peaceful’ ones, following the admonitions of Cruz himself.
There are two major myths regarding aliens.
01. ‘jobs americans can’t / won’t do’.
02. only illegals aliens harm the economy and job market.
Walker addresses the ‘elephant in the room’, i.e. it is not only illegal alines that are huring our economy. It is also legal alien who are brought in in accordance with so called Free Trade agreements and the WTO. These agreements mandate certain numbers of legal aliens, regardless of the current job situation.
I believe the establishment types (like NRO and the rest) want to fabricate an image of Walker for conservative consumption. They want us to believe he’s the guy for us.
But in the end, it’s nothing but words coming out of their mouths.
But what they can’t control is Walker himself, who doesn’t deliver the Cruz does.
Cruz did vote against cloture though, which was more important. The confirmation vote was already a forgone conclusion.
I saw that yesterday and I thought, okay I can see that. But this morning it struck me - will this show up as a **blank** - how does that work?
If someone looks up his vote on Lynch, will be nothing there?
???
