As President Obama and Democrats in Congress continue acting like they didnt lose last November, Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan worries, We are not using the powers of the legislative branch, as we should.
A December poll by Pat Caddell indicated a growing rift between Republican leaders and their base, with expectations that a strengthened Republican Congress would fight against Obamacare, amnesty and the presidents excessive use of power.
For the most astute activists fighting executive amnesty, March 3 was a defining moment in the battle against egregious presidential actions, when the House passed homeland security funding stripping the provision to stop Obamas executive order. Rep. Jordan played a critical role with 166 other House Republicans who worked against House Speaker John Boehners capitulation. Jordan retells the inside story of the big surrender that played out.
America watched 75 Republicans vote with every Democrat in the House to allow Obama to rewrite citizenship rules without Congressional approval, another troubling sign of our governments fundamental transformation. Jordan, in this video interview, tells the inside story of how Republican leaders picked this homeland security bill last December as the place to fight Obamas executive amnesty.
Most importantly to this conservative congressman, Republicans failed to drive a public campaign and message, despite having compelling arguments, quotes from campaigning Democrats and even a Saturday Night Live skit on their side. When Obama made GOP leaders cave, Jordan found himself, along with 12 other conservatives in the House, the subject of critical ads run by a group associated with the Republican establishment.
Known for being a champion wrestler in his youth, this energetic, passionate conservative sees the most important battle one he would even be willing to lose his seat over as the government harassment of Obama opponents. IRS attacks on conservatives threatens the hallmark of a free society and our form of government, Jordan says. He believes it is exercising our freedom to speak and dissent from our national government without being targeted and punished that most animates him. Jordan has been the most resolute leader in fighting the IRS from his committee perch on accountability.
With the Inspector General of the IRS having found the backup tapes in February that the IRS commissioner, John Koskinen, repeatedly told Congress were destroyed, Rep. Jordan is now ramping up pressure on the agency. Many are starting to ask if the IRS commissioner lied to Congress, to avoid accountability and embarrassment. After all, President Obama told Bill OReilly, there was not a smidgen of corruption at the IRS.
The average family is so fed up with this place. They dont think anyone is fighting for them. <-- Mobile_Inline -->
Jordan describes the everyday citizen he tries to keep in mind to get through the distractions, urgencies and fog of Washington.
Keeping these types of people in mind, he and 39 of his conservative colleagues have formed a new Freedom Caucus. Other conservative groups in the House include the Tea Party Caucus lead by Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-KS), and the Conservative Opportunity Society lead by Rep. Steve King (R-IA).
Not caving. Bought and blackmailed. Threatened, intimidated. But at the very top, just bought.
These are empty souls who would sell their grandmothers without batting an eye. And they for sure don’t hesitate to sell you out, they do that every day before breakfast.
Jordan is one of maybe 50 conservatives in the House, in the Senate there might be a half dozen.
Most of the rest are Democrats in R jerseys, advancing the left’s agenda under the guise of being Republicans.
I’m becoming convinced that for the Republic to survive, the GOP must die.
Except they care about God, they will not care about you or me either.
It’s a pity, though. They think they are and will be immune, or that we will forget them or their last names.
The Clinton FBI files are still paying dividends or is it the NSA acquired dirt? It’s really hard to tell at this point.
Troubling? It’s downright dismaying, because it’s no longer a question of “hold their feet to the fire”, it’s now knowing that on every issue which doesn’t feed crony capitalism’s gaping maw, we can expect to feel the shiv between our shoulder blades, over and over.
No it is not hard to tell.
The answer is neither.
They are not being forced to do things against their will at all, this is who they are.
I agree with you.
I’ll sing at the funeral.
It’s disgusting that they will allow the Kenyan to destroy the country rather than risk some maggot calling them a “racist”.
They’re shedding social conservatism as fast as they can. This is about money and power for the uniparty.
This is nice he is telling us this, but I would like to see these guys, the ones targeted for retaliation by Boehner, and McConnell, start undermining the leadership before the fix is in. These guys should not keep anything the leadership says or does that will lead to capitulation, under wraps. Lets make the Republican Congress as dysfunctional as possible to keep the leadership from passing their liberal agenda.
They are not being forced to do things against their will at all, this is who they are.
Hammer meet nail... You are 100% right.
The GOPe will just vote with the rats, as they’ve been doing. There’s the “majority”-the crony capitalist uniparty. The Ds and Rs don’t matter, the GOP is ditching social issues.
Caving?... you kidding.. pelosie reid boehner and mcconnell have totally FINANCED OBAMA.. from day one..
That sounds so peaceful and soothing. I’m thinking more like pissing in the open grave.
GOPe=Lousy B@stards.
