Marco Rubio's Poll Vault: Now the media scrutiny begins.
FOX News ^ | April 27, 2015 | Howard Kurtz

Posted on 04/27/2015 3:43:48 AM PDT by Din Maker

It’s been fascinating to watch the media “discover” Marco Rubio as the GOP’s new front-runner. He is suddenly leading the field in a Fox News poll with a less-than-overwhelming 13 percent, just a tick ahead of Scott Walker (12), Rand Paul (10), Jeb Bush and Mike Huckabee (9), and Ted Cruz (8).

Not bad for a freshman senator, until you realize that the poll’s margin of error is 5 percent. Meaning that, in theory, Cruz could be first and Rubio could be sixth.

One of the most popular Rubio story lines involves the evolution and possible strain on the Jeb-and-Marco friendship.

He has a pretty detailed tax reform plan that has generated almost no headlines, gets angry that Republicans are portrayed as the party of the rich and believes party leaders need to talk more about working Americans.

He also knows that he alienated part of the GOP base by working with Democrats to push immigration reform through the Senate, only to see it die in the House. Rubio now believes a sweeping bill cannot pass and that border security must come first.

Rubio’s biggest liability is that (like Cruz and Paul) he’s a first-term senator in a party that has been assailing the election of the last first-time senator in 2008.

The good news for Rubio is that he’s now the nominal front-runner. That’s also the bad news. Tougher media scrutiny can’t be far behind, and how he handles it will be a major test of his fledgling candidacy.

Well, let the scrutiny begin..... for all of them. How many are running now? A gazillion? The sooner we weed out some of the "wanna be" guys, the sooner we can get on with the serious business of choosing a nominee.

My favorite line in the article:

“One of the most popular Rubio story lines involves the evolution and possible strain on the Jeb-and-Marco friendship.”

FOX “News” will continue to lie about Sen. Cruz.
It is what they do.

The GOP = Give Obama Power party is as corrupt
as the sky is blue; and the FOX “News” is its platform.

Sen. Cruz OR LOSE.

the sooner we can get on with the serious business of choosing a nominee.

The sooner the media can get on with the serious business of choosing a nominee. That is their self appointed duty. They never vetted Obama, they abetted Obama.

I agree. This Rubio mania is all hype.

I’m Cruz all the way.

Fox News is part of the Ministry of Propaganda. They will be pushing amnesty candidates.

Rubio is an amnesty candidate.

No Amnesty Candidates !

I think it is pretty obvious that Rubio cannot be trusted.

Rubio is the current fallback if Bush doesn’t make it.

I agree Fox News has a bias problem against Cruz. If you visit conservative sites that conduct polls, Cruz is always first by a sizeable margin.

I think Krauthammmer is going to try to carry Rubio in his lap across the finish line in his wheelchair.

It’s up to us to get the word out.

I see it all going pretty much this way:

The Democrats/MSM will have an easier time of it once thr primaries start. With Mrs. Bill as the only serious Democrat candidate, Democrat voters will vote in the Republoican primaries. If Bush conforms to the tried and true template he won't even contest the first ones so Rubio will have it all running in the "conservative" pack.

The conservative candidates, I hope like hell except for Cruz and Walker, will spend their energy and money smearing each other rather than saying why they should get the nomination. Rubio will eventually fall in the same mud pit and Bush will be the last man standing and will run actively in the second half. He won't be entirely out of the earlies- his money will be right in there slinging mud but because he is not contesting them none of it will land on his face.In these later primaries the Democrats will be as much as 15 or 20% of the votes and will make Jeb an easy winner. I expect the Democrats will feed him opposition research from the NSA files.

Jeb Bush will then take a fall in the election itself.

It’s not scrutiny. The media willingly offers help to the democrat party as it tries to destroy a good man.

The GOP = Give Obama Power party

OMG.... That would be funny if it wasn’t so true. That is “spot on”. Is that your “creation” or did you borrow it?

First of all, if I could gamble righteously, I’d bet you that Hillary will not be the only “serious” candidate in the ‘RAT Primaries. With all these scandals and crap going on, you can bet that there will be a serious challenge. I don’t think it will be “Lie-a-Watha” Warren or Joe Biden; I’m thinking Gov. Martin O’Malley (MD) and/or Gov. Andrew Cuomo (NY). Secondly..............

If ‘RATS do vote in the GOP Primaries, they will vote for the one they think is the most “beatable”. That would be Ted Cruz (because Liberals are stupid), and that is good news for Conservatives.

Why should I even bother to vote for Jeb? Better to have a real democrat to blame.

Website polls are not scientific in any way.

I realize website polls are not scientific. What they are in this case is a good reflection of who the Conservative base is supporting.

I have never been called by any of the national polls and don’t know anyone who has. I question whether their sampling is accurate.

They are a good reflection of who the people that visit particular conservative websites are supporting. The case can be made that at this moment the conservative base is supporting Walker and/or Rubio. Cruz has yet to break out of 4th place in any reputable scientific poll.

I do half expect some nonentity to appear out of the wings to gently slide the rug out from under Mrs. Bill. I will know it is happening when I hear the chatter among the Democrats hereabouts. I knew that the Democrats had chosen Hussein well before he appeared to be a serious challenge to Mrs. Bill in 08. The chatter among the Democrats was about Hussein and there were expressions of distaste for Mrs. Bill. If I had to take a guess it would be a female Negro or perhaps Michelle Obama.
