Yes...I realize that after reading the rest of the thread.

Thanks for pointing that out.

My thoughts on the current administration still stand, however.

The US should be involved in the ship and crew recovery. So should a lot of countries.

There are a lot of countries who flag their ships in the Marshall islands, Monrovia, panama among other places. This is not a US flagged ship. There are thousands of ships flagged there from countries all around the world.

No kidding Jonny Quest. Carter... failed rescue attempt of hostages. Wimp, but not as limp wrist-ed as Bozo. Two weeks before hostages were released. (The day Reagan was sworn into office) we had plans and THE bomb in the air for several days straight waiting to melt Teheran. I wonder who ordered us to prepare for that contingency? Certainly not Jimmy C. And would our current poor excuse of a POTUS do anything nearly as intimidating? I’m sure “something” was leaked to the Iranians on purpose. These A-tabs only respect and back down when they feel doom closing in. Our sickningly pitiful excuse of a POTUS, Mr. Obama is weaker than even Carter was. I never thought I’d live to see the day that another President would make Jimmy Carter out to be “Reaganesque” I miss my buddy Ronnie.

Its the US ship’s fault for being so racist.
Besides, we don’t have time to worry about Iran, we have global warming to combat.

In the Tonkin episode, the media dutifully published/broadcast the great lie. the current media whoredom is far more kneepadded than those earlier ‘journalists’.

Wasn’t it the sinking of a ship that galvanized the US population and lead us into WW1?

Oh yeah, that was a totally different generation.

Hey, look, the Kardashians just posted a new tweet.

You pull over half your NAVY from the high seas, and guess what happens.

All you “bring em home” losers, need to wake the F up.

We either keep the sea lanes open, or we accept this s—t.

A common belief but the US did not enter the war for two more years after the sinking of the Lusitania.

A “Marshall Islands” flagged ship IS a U.S. flagged ship in nearly every way but the color of the flag.

Except when it's owned by a Danish company and nobody onboard is American.

It’s a little more than rare. Don’t hear much about it but we still have the US Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY. Those grads gotta go someplace.

Yes. The HMS Lusitania.

It wasn’t even an American Ship.

Then there was the USS Maine, that precipitated the Spanish-American War.

Seems like a recurring theme.

Remember Pearl Harbor?

Thats right, but it galvanized public opinion... back when US lives lost to foreign aggression meant something.
