The rapid growth of the GOP presidential field is causing major headaches for party bosses ahead of a primary debate season that begins this summer.
The dilemma for Reince Priebus, Republican National Committee (RNC) chairman, is stark: If the declared field grows to 18 or 20 candidates, as now looks plausible, how can those numbers be winnowed in a way that seems fair and reasonable rather than arbitrary and undemocratic?
Youve got to prevent it from becoming a WWE SmackDown event on national television, said GOP strategist Ford OConnell. You dont want to bump everybody off the stage, but you have to realize your overarching goal is protecting the eventual nominee.
I would think that Reince Priebus has been thinking about exactly this issue, and also about how to ensure that the debates dont turn into the ideological bloodfest that we saw in 2012, which pushed the whole ticket to the right, said Cal Jillson, a political science professor at Southern Methodist University.

“Then send whining emails begging for donations.”
Two Bush letters in my home mailbox yesterday. The first from Jeb’s wife Columba enclosing a picture from their wedding 40 years ago and asking me to give to some PAC to support Jeb. The second from George W. asking me to send money to his presidential library. Both were filed in the appropriate place.
We need an ideological bloodfest won by conservatism against rino liberalism.
Rubio cooked his goose when he schemed with Schumer and his Gang against the citizens.

I understand the distrust there. But, let’s remember he was a young, newly-elected Senator who was swooped up by the nefarious claws of Washington. He has admitted that he was wrong to be involved in that and has repented. All of us have done things in life as a result of poor choices to say the least; and we paid for those choices. Thank God our family and all of our friends did not hold it over our head and punish us for the rest of our life. Can we show a little “mercy and forgiveness” here folks. No one has waffled, and back-tracked, on issues (including amnesty) more than Scott Walker. But, when he says he’s changed his mind, I give him the benefit of the doubt. You will find that my candidate of choice, Ted Cruz, has made a few missteps and will make many more. I’ve worked in some very high level campaigns, and let me tell you; even the most honorable candidates back-peddle once in awhile. The greatest Person to ever walked the earth said it best: “Let him that is without sin cast the first stone.”
Yeah, I like those too.
And the emails as well.
The best laughs are the ones saying “We will stop Obama’s Agenda!!”
The GOP establishment will do whatever it takes to keep the game rigged.
Don’t forget, the Soviet Union had elections too. But the only choices on the ballot were handpicked by the Politburo.
He has not repented. He still supports amnesty. He just thinks he needs to be slicker at presenting us with our cyanide.
