Ted Cruz recently said: “I’ve never seen a Hispanic panhandling.” I got to thinking and I said: “Hmmmmm..... in all honesty, neither have I.”

I dare say, Mary Sanchez is WRONG. When the average Latino/Latina goes into that voting booth and they have the chance to vote for the first Hispanic President of the United States, trust me many will pull that lever for Ted Cruz or Marco Rubio. You can take it to the bank!

I agree there is a very wide spread (more than 10%) in the polling on Cruz in 2012.

And, I should have pointed out that the Latino Decisions poll was not an exit poll.

However, Latino Decisions polling is the third best source in the country for Hispanic voting.

Only the Census Bureau and the Pew Hispanic Center collect better data, so the 35% Cruz number should not be ignored.

The 2014 election is more instructive, but not for the reasons you state.

Nationally, in 2014, Hispanics had the lowest voter turnout of any ethnic group.

Low voter turnout, for all ethnic groups including whites, almost always means better results for Conservatives.

In 2010, in New Mexico, Republican Governor Susana Martinez, a former Democrat who has Mexican ancestry, got just 39% of the Hispanic vote.

If she had run in 2008 or 2012, when Hispanic turnout was dramatically higher, she probably would have lost.

I have to admit that I very much favor Cruz over Walker, however I would consider Walker in the case that he wins the primary. However, his supporters seem to have a mob mentality and that is turning me off quickly. The way that a few people are supporting him on FR is what actually may be the most hurtful to him...

I stand with Ted

Does collecting welfare count?

Is it really any worse than the barrage from the "Cruz or Lose" crowd? Personally I like both. I'm leaning more toward Cruz but I'd be relatively happy with either as the nominee.

You’re comparing apples and oranges there, Hugin. But, I did get a chuckle out of your wit and humor. And, plz understand; neither Ted Cruz, nor I, are pro-Amnesty. But, I’m thinking the number of “illegal” Latinos on Welfare are still a helluva lot less percentage that the “citizens” in the Black Communities and the White lazy Rednecks and the White dopers who have been diagnosed as Bi-Polar because they have fried their brain on drugs. You’d be surprised how many young, strong, White studs are on “Disability”.

Ted didn’t distinguish between legal or illegal. Here in CA not only do they make it easy for illegals to get “Cal Fresh” (food stamps) and Medical, but legal Hispanics receive government aid of some sort at twice the level of the general population. I’m sure many of them work low paying jobs, which means taxpayers are subsidizing those businesses by allowing them to continue working for wages they otherwise couldn’t support their families on.

That’s not to say there aren’t plenty of hard working, very American “Hispanics” here. I’ve worked with plenty of them. But numbers don’t lie.

I’ve read the article previously. It has been posted before. All it shows is Cruz’s position on immigration is what it has always been and is backed up by the amendment he offered in 2013. No path to citizenship. He would grant legal status in the form of work permits, which are temporary and have to be renewed. I have heard him also say that no permits would be granted to anyone who has broken other laws.

Cruz is consistent on immigration unlike Walker, Rubio, and Huckabee. Bush is consistently wrong, as is Graham.

You have a myopic view and no basis to elevate Cruz while criticizing Walker on this issue.

The Latino voters are very savvy at accessing every aspect of the Dole and government employment.
They are poor if they are first generation and that makes them automatically Democrats looking for hand outs.

We need to secure the border.
Enforce the law that unless they maintain 125% or more above the poverty line they can’t stay.
No access to the dole.
Maybe since so many in Mexico want to be here we should look into annexing Mexico.

Please enlighten me as to what is Cruz’s position on immigration, if I have misstated it. I agree with Cruz. If giving his position is elevating him, so be it.

Walker’s multiple positions on immigration speak for themselves, but they do need to be brought to light.

Cruz’s position isn’t clear - it’s fuzzy.

His position is crystal clear. Listen to what he says, not what MSNBC says. One of Cruz’z gifts is his conciseness. You don’t win nine Supreme Court cases being “fuzzy”.
