Ted Cruz ‘reached out to the Pentagon’ about martial law conspiracy theory
MSNBC ^ | May 2, 2015 | Emma Margolin

Depending on whom you ask, “Jade Helm 15” is either a domestic military training exercise or a covert operation for the federal government to take over the state of Texas – and 2016 presidential candidate Ted Cruz just became the latest Republican to fan the flames of the latter theory.

Speaking at the South Carolina Republican Party’s annual convention Saturday, the Texas senator told Bloomberg’s David Weigel that his office had contacted the Pentagon about the exercise, which officially consists of a series of training drills throughout the Southwest for about 1,200 special operations personnel, including Green Berets and Navy SEALs. Conspiracy theorists operating on the fringes of the conservative blogosphere, however, have other ideas about what the exercise, known as Jade Helm 15, is intended to do – such as implement martial law, seize Americans’ guns, and imprison political dissidents.

Rather than squash those theories outright, Cruz apparently decided it was better to be safe than sorry.

“My office has reached out to the Pentagon to inquire about this exercise,” he said. “We are assured it is a military training exercise. I have no reason to doubt those assurances, but I understand the reason for concern and uncertainty, because when the federal government has not demonstrated itself to be trustworthy in this administration, the natural consequence is that many citizens don’t trust what it is saying.”(continued)

You got your explanation.
From both he and myself.
You just don’t like the answers.
Why not?

That’s their explanation not mine.

I am not defending their choices. I’ve said that to you four times now. For some reason Ft Irwin doesn’t work. Address the Pentagon. Not me.

I'm sorry, but I don't share your confidence.

These are “continuation of government” operations, practice to rescue bureaucrats and recover government buildings, banks etc, from “insurgents”, not in the Middle East... but here in America. You know ... like saving the Fed from Austrian economic terrorists.

In the neighborhoods, those 1200 undercover spec op guys are fanning out and infiltrating to practice finding, fixing, capturing or eliminating opposition figures perceived as threats to the current or future regieme. Typical red list, blue list operations. No big deal...like Ollie North's Rex84 thing, right?

To my experience, not what I would like to believe ... good soldiers follow orders. Even bad orders. One could be convinced that our countries future depended upon the round-up of a few malcontents, like freepers say, and just be following orders...good soldier.

All the recent seccession talk has the authoritarians on edge. The exercises are to protect the government from us. Whoever that may turn out to be. A few years back it was rabid homeschoolers.

It’s a bad idea from stem to stern. They should do it in Mexico or at the limit in the Capitol building.

How about Ferguson or Baltimore...

Real-ly.
Post 6 by you says otherwise.
Man does his job, and you castigate him for it.
Then you repeat the be line of Texas being the “only” place to do this at, and anytime someone rightfully points out the bs in that claim, you dance and go “I’m not defending it”.
Then you repeat it.
Without even thinking why.

You are never done because you have to get the last word. First you insult. Then you pick apart phrases out of context. Then you usually ask the same question over and over again. Then you ridicule. Then you latch onto a single fact which has nothing to do with the conversation, and pound that for about fifty posts. Then you dig up posting history and try to turn the crowd.

Have I got them all?

But you never answer a question or post a cogent thought in support of your argument.

Why is that?

Where was your answer, outlining what you think is going to happen. Norm said nothing was going to happen.

How about you?

Reinforces my statement that his teachers at the War College need to be court martialed. If this is the level of their grads, they clearly are incompetent.

Cruz got everyone on record... that’s the way to deal with it. If they’re up to no good, Cruz has just make it harder for them.

Plan for the worst - hope for the best...

Sorry, I forgot it would be racist of them to run the exercises in Ferguson or Baltimore.

In the neighborhoods? So they are running around on private property, between houses, without advance notice or permission? That’s what they are doing?

Look - he put them on the spot. Shined a light after picking up the rock. No matter what was planned - or good or evil - it’s now on the record.

Cruz did right by us.

>>If he doesn’t believe it, but asked to make the wing nuts feel better he is a pander-bear.

If this is pandering, then pander away, Ted!

At the very least, it puts the issue on the radar screen. The 0vomit regime is expert at sneaking things under the radar.

Can you name ONE good thing this administrations has done?
