Baltimore probe into black man's death fails to support charges: CNN

The Baltimore police investigation into the death of a black man from injuries sustained in police custody fails to support some charges filed by the city prosecutor, CNN reported on Thursday.

Citing officials briefed on the separate probes by prosecutor Marilyn Mosby and police into the death of Freddie Gray, the television news network said the lack of support for charges from the police findings could allow lawyers representing the officers to undercut the prosecution.

Gray, 25, sustained spinal injuries after being arrested, and his death on April 19 sparked protests and a day of arson and looting in the largely African American city.

Mosby charged six officers on Friday with counts ranging from false imprisonment to manslaughter and second-degree murder. She made her announcement hours after the state medical examiner ruled the death a homicide and a day after police turned over their findings about Gray's arrest.

Officials familiar with the probes say the homicide investigation run by police at most contemplated a manslaughter charge, not second-degree murder as Mosby charged one of the officers, Caesar Goodson...

The witness in the police van and the “witness” who later recanted are not the same person.

If he was high on something, self-inflicted injuries should not be surprising.

In a former life, while serving Uncle Sam in Japan, I got carried away with the cheap Akadama wine. They told me I was butting my head into walls and lockers like a regular bighorn ram. Luckily I met the Lord Jesus shortly after that and He’s kept me from self-destructing for, lo, these many years.

Then all the charges should be dropped and the state proscecutor should be removed from her office and than she should be placed in federal prison with never to see the light of day.

I saw him on the news denying everything the WAPO quoted about him.

Maybe, maybe not. Can you rule out that medical personell injured Gray when they were trying to clear his airway and intubate him? Spinal cord injuries are not uncommon with intubation. What may have initially been a relatively minor fracture or no fracture can become major when the neck is not immobilized by a collar. That immobilzation did not occur until after he was treated in the hospital.

The witness mentioned in the Washington Post article is still in jail. The “witness” who was interviewed was with Gray when the police saw them. They ran away in the different directions. The police caught him later, then released him. He was never in the van with Gray. This “witness” was offered up by Jayne Miller of WBAL-TV, who is a girlfriend of a female attorney in Mosby’s office.

Does it sound like a soap opera to you yet?

When the charges were announced, the savages only heard:

The cops are guilty, including one that is guilty of murder
and
The cops will be punished severely (which I am certain the mob heard as life in prison).

If both of these "promises" are not met, get ready for Thug Violence, Part II. (I must admit, I've grown fond of using the "T-word".)

Is it possible if he had been standing in the van that when the van turned a corner he fell and hit his head or neck?

What about the man who just died in Mexico from falling off a treadmill and smashed his head and died if one can believe that then why not the other.

From the gitgo I've stated on this board that, to my mind, the perp's injuries happened prior to his being stuffed into the back of the van. If you look at the video clip, he's like a limp rag doll from head-to-toe at the start of the clip to the end....and it doesn't look a bit feigned to me.

Well, all this time and not one freeper agrees with what I'm positing. Y'all owe me a beer if I turn out to be right, LOL.

A comment on one of the articles on The Conservative Tree House site mentioned that police are saying that Gray sustained a back injury while riding a dirt bike a few weeks before THE arrest. Furthermore, a video shows that Gray may have scaled a block wall that was short on one side, but had a long drop on the other. Seems to me a back injury from a bike accident (assumed true) could easily be worsened by a rough landing while scaling a wall. By rough, I mean even landing on his feet could cause a jolt to his spine. Speculation I know, but....

How do you know that? Several witnesses have said that Mr. Gray was trying to injure himself, for whatever reason.
...........
One witness, who later recanted.

**********
Initial statements, before a witness has had a chance to recant due to peer pressure, can be most credible. Also, even if a witness can hear but not see, the hearing is likely to be enough if a beating was going on. If there was anyone else in the van with Gray, the witness who could not see him would surely be able to hear him saying something like, “Stop beating me!”

I have a feeling there’s going to be quite a shocker when we learn of the medical examiner’s exam and the mistakes/fabrications made by request of the Mayor/Prosecutor, etc..

“Is it possible if he had been standing in the van “

I think one would have to be under 4 feet tall to stand in that van.
