British Prime Minister David Cameron and his Tory party all but vanquished the opposing Labor Party and proved pre-election polls wrong with a resounding election triumph he called "the sweetest victory of all."

Fueled by a landslide in Scotland, Cameron and the Tories left opponents on the right and left in tatters. The Labour Party lost 24 seats in Parliament according to early returns, and party leader Ed Miliband resigned from his role. Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg resigned after acknowledging a "cruel and punishing defeat," in which his left-of-center part suffered its worst-ever defeat - dropping from 57 seats to just 8. On the right, UK Independence Party Leader Nigel Farage, a thorn in Cameron's side, failed to win a seat.

Muzzies don’t care who won. They own most of London, self defence is a crime, and Brits are effectively disarmed.

Allahu akbar, old chap!

The UKIP vote was spread all over the country......just not enough UKIP votes, except one seat, to carry any other seats. And SNP looks like a great influence, but their vote totals are lower. Scotland is still in flux after the down vote on breaking from the UK. From what I understand from my British husband, the Northern Ireland parties should help the Conservatives in a coalition Government..

Looks like they might not need a coalition

Yes. Just asked my British husband and he said, with a clear majority they don’t need to form a coalition. Glad the Conservative Party won’t need to go any further Left to govern with the support of the people.

I think it’s more a case that the Labour Party and Liberal Democrat Party have gone way too far left, and the Conservative Party has basically moved where the Tony Blair Labour Party was.

Seriously, name me one difference between Cameron and Blair.

David Cameron ran the race of his life. He has every reason to be happy.

The old saying comes to mind, victory has many fathers and defeat is an orphan.

Well, he is father of the Tory revival in England and saw his rivals turned into political orphans.

I’ve never seen anything quite like it.

I suppose that this is mildly good news, in that that Tories are a lesser evil relative to Labor in the same way that in the US, establishment Republicans are a somewhat lesser evil than Democrats. At the same time, I was hoping for a strong enough showing by the anti-EU, immigration restrictionist UK Independence Party so that Cameron would be forced to form a coalition government with Nigel Farage. With a slim majority, he doesn’t have to.

Agree and this is what worries me too about our upcoming election.

I fear this is what the rhinos here are banking on. They calculate that our electorate will be so turned off by the far left democrat party that they will not risk voting for a true conservative like Cruz.

Rather they will fall in line with another Bush or Romney as the likes of them would be a safer bet to throw the dems out.

The UK election is not a good omen. Very disappointed in Farage’s showing - as this is our tea party across the pond.

In UK's parliamentary system, there's less of a risk in "throwing your vote away" on a third party candidate than in the US. A vote for UKIP doesn't even indirectly help Labor, because a vote that's neither for the Conservatives nor Labor prevents either from being a majority, and forces them to form coalitions to make a majority. This gives parties other than Tories and Labor a voice in British politics, all the more reason to vote for them.

In contrast, in our winner take all system, any vote that doesn't go to the Republican candidate by default helps the Democrat, and vice-versa, because there's no prospect for building majorities from a party coalitions. Other than convoluted campaign finance law and lack of media coverage, this is the strongest force against successful third party candidacies in the US.

“and yet, the real conservative Nigel was shunned”

Huge sums of money were spent to bury Farage in his district.

“I fear this is what the rhinos here are banking on. They calculate that our electorate will be so turned off by the far left democrat party that they ... will fall in line with another Bush or Romney to throw the dems out.”

Both the (”Conservative”) Tories and the (Socialist) Labour Parties hired Obama’s campaign folks to run their campaigns this time around.

The bases on both sides are being divided. Labour and Lib Dems lost base voters to the (Socialist) Scottish National Party. UKIP’s 12.8% of the vote should be part of the Tory base.

The total vote count on the right, seems to have grown, but if they are divided enough next time, they could hand it to the left, like Ross Perot draining enough from the Republicans to put Clinton into office.

I think the biggest issue is keeping getting an out-of-EU vote at some point in the next 5 or 10 years. I think Milliband wasn’t going to allow a vote.

Cameron and Milliband were like Boehner and Pelosi on immigration.

I was hoping Cameron would have to form coalition with UKIP.

Cameron also wanted to arm ISIS with McCain.

Cameron will be weaving and double talking soon and driving people away from him because he spent the latter part of the campaign attacking the SNP and spreading fear about them and Labour working together to form a government.

Cameron is planning to turn around and offer the Scots new powers including control over their budget and taxes.

He’s going to appease the Scottish Nationalists after trashing them.

Scott Walker was 100 percent right to go after the government employee unions in Wisconsin and I sent him money for the recall election in 2012.

Now its 2015 and it looks like Ted Cruz is out front and willing to criticize business when they are wrong as in the religious freedom laws corporate America shut down in Indiana and Arkansas at the end of March.

Cruz spoke out about the “Fortune 500” specifically opposing religious freedom while Governor Walker vaguely spoke of the activists of the LGBT movement with his comment about “people who are perpetually offended.”

I’m a “libertarian” on gay marriage but it doesn’t matter since those supporting it want more than marriage licenses from the government.

The gay marriage movement and all those who support it including big business will end up suppressing the opinions of those who oppose gay marriage-homosexuality and force religious institutions to change their theology to accept both as normal. Businesses and individuals have already been targeted targeted because they oppose gay marriage.

The evidence is already there with people like the CEO at Mozilla, Brendan Eich, losing their jobs for being on the wrong side of the gay marriage issue. People losing their jobs for supporting Prop 8 and so on is like Jews losing their jobs in 1933 Germany.

If Walker can’t open up his mouth to repeat what I just said, I don’t think he has what it takes to face this real and present danger to First Amendment Constitutional freedom, disguised as ‘marriage equality’.....

Maybe the British Tories are not as right wing as you would like them to be but the fact remains that the Anglo-sphere countries all currently have centre-right governments as do Germany and Israel and several other major economies in the world.

For all the rufty-tufty Americans who like to preach to the wussie Brits and Canucks and the “euro-weenies” it might come as a surprise that they are ruled by one of the most left wing governments in the developed world.

Cameron’s conservative party is about as right wing as the Democrat Party in the US.

I agree. Cameron has taken the conservative party to the far left. His party does not support free speech and were instrumental in keeping Robert Spencer out of the UK.
