"probably see mines being laid in the gulf next."

How soon before Iran demands a 'passage fee' to transit the strait?

These days our only treaty seems to be with radical muslim murdering thugs.

If the Iranians know what is good for them, they will NOT go any farther with a Singaporean ship. Singapore has 72,000 regular military personnel and almost 1.4 million reserves.

Singapore has a VERY potent navy including two AIP subs modernized to Södermanland class standards and six modern frigates. The RSAF includes F-15 Strike Eagles and F-16 Falcons. The RS Army operates over 250 MBTs made up of Leopard IIs and Mervaka IVs. The Iranians would be wise not to mess with Singapore.

Perhaps, but they’re still 4000 miles apart.

First, get the enemy out of the Oval Office by taking out the ILLEGAL ALIEN IN CHIEF (a Muslim Terrorist sympathizer) and his IRANIAN SPY.

Singapore military took part in the Iraq War, Operation Enduring Freedom and Combined Task Forces 151. The latter battled and continues to battle Somali pirates in the Gulf of Aden.

Singapore’s lifeblood is trade. For the size of the country they have a HUGE military to defend such trade. You threaten a country’s lifeblood, you provoke a response. Sometimes, even less provokes a response. Just look at the Falklands War! Elements of the RSN have served in the Gulf of Aden, not too far from the Persian Gulf, so stationing RSN ships in the Gulf is not out of the question to protect their trade.

I seem to recall a certain minor power (at the time) doing something similar two hundred years ago. Are familiar with a certain song that carries the line “...to the shores of Tripoli.”?

They participated in those operations with heavy logistical support from other nations. Iran may have concerns about the reaction of certain nations, but I doubt Singapore is on the short list.

Oh boy!
“The Pentagon is still gathering information about the incident”.

Report due next year.

Our DOD is hopeless. We got a new head of JCS. Hope he’s at least 10% better than the coward who just left, Gen. Dempsey.

We need a Patton and get a Hilton Perez.

No, I’m sure that Singapore is not on Iran’s short list nor likely is the US under O’Venal’s _residency! The mullahs know that he is all about surrender, especially as he’s under the spell of his Iranian muse, the Lizard Queen.

The difference is, if provoked, Singapore is more likely to respond!

If it’s necessary I’d hope we’d give them all the support they need.

Makes perfect sense;
Obama can sit back and preen for his home base while Singapore, Egypt, Jordan, Kurds, and "our friends" in Saudi Arabia fight the inevitable war with subdued Israeli support and without us.

After all, by the time it's over he will be beyond the presidency and working on his next scam.

For years Jefferson tried to encourage the French, where he served as Ambassador, to help form a European coalition of forces to take on the Barbary Pirates. Finally, after one of our ships was captured and our citizens held for ransom, he acted for our country alone.

And if this strategy is successful, we will have lost no soldiers (including my son who is still in Special Forces), nor run up a $trillion unfunded debt for my grandchildren to pay. Let the Sunnis and Shiites fight their stupid religious supremacy wars. That’s what Catholics and Protestants did 4 and 5 centuries ago, and look how that turned out.
