EL PASO, Texas - An active-duty Fort Bliss soldier self-reported for a two day DWI sentence at the El Paso County Jail in 2012 but died before he saw the light of day or his family again.

In July 2012, KFOX14 anchor Erika Castillo reported on the story of the mysterious circumstances surrounded the death of Sgt. James Brown while he was in jail.

KFOX14 fought all the way to the Texas attorney general to obtain the video to learn what happened to Brown before dying.

The graphic video obtained shows the moments before the death of Brown.

Warning: The footage obtained by KFOX14 contains graphic content. Viewer discretion is advised.

These are the tactics of a tyrannical government. We are already there.

chilling.
something is way not right, here.
I wonder if the injections had anything to do with it.
It looks like he was still alive when they carted him out.

The sheriff’s statement sucked.

They beat the poor soul to death. That is no mystery. I watched the jail programs on t.v. and they will beat the hell out of you at the drop of a hat. And throw it down.

The cops should have called for a medic sooner, but other than that, what should they have done differently?

If you watch COPS or JAIL TV shows, this happens all the time and the procedure seems to be if the prisoner can talk he can breathe, therefore is faking.

What should the cops do?

They weren’t hitting him, they were restraining him. What would you do?

Where was the emergency medical personnel? The leo had no concern for the well being of the soldier. There was zero concern for his safety.

That’s what I wonder about.

Is it true that if the prisoner is talking then his breathing is fine?

Should every jail also have an emergency doctor on site? That would get expensive.

How much does it cost to have a paramedic on standby? Not only for the prisoners, but for the guards in case of emergency. But more specifically, once the soldier asked for help, 911 should have been contacted. That is obvious. Zero concern for him.

It was a sickle cell crisis. While 1 in 500 African Americans carry the disease, few ever encounter a full-blown crisis. I don’t know what to say. We have lost a hero and a wife and little girl have lost their husband and father.

I agree. The guy had unexplained bleeding and needed medical attention. This is a shame. I wonder what his autopsy showed.

In time police traffic patrols will be by Armored Cars with five man SWAT teams inside. If you are stopped for a broken taillight they will leap out of the armored car and attack your door with a battering ram and break the window to throw a flash bang into the car. After tasering You will be spreadeagled on the ground with a 220 pound trooper on your back with his knee in your kidney, stripped, cavity searched, cuffed, given the appropriate $30 repair-it-in-48-hours ticket and sent on your way with a cheery but menacing request to donate to the Disabled Officers’ Fund.

No, it's not true. If it is difficult to get a breath but you can still say words,"I can't breathe," is what you will say. You are not going to be explaining that you find it difficult to get a breath. You will be using a minimum of words and you may be really feeling that you can't breathe or are losing the ability to breathe In any event you are scared, afraid that you are losing the ability to breathe. You would be less than conversational in that condition.
