Network honchos at ABC are scrambling to keep their George Stephanopoulos scandal from becoming a Brian Williams disaster.
Insiders at ABC News said higher-ups were blindsided by Stephanopoulos’ hefty undisclosed donations to the Clinton Foundation, saying the contributions may have made damaged goods of their biggest star.
“This is a bigger crisis than ABC will admit,” a source told The Post.
“George is the centerpiece of their 2016 coverage. By donating to the Clintons, he has blown his credibility in one catastrophic move.
“How can he moderate a debate or question a Republican candidate without questions over his impartiality?”
Stephanopoulos is ABC’s chief anchor and chief political correspondent. The “Good Morning America” anchor admitted last week that he has donated $75,000 to the Clinton Foundation since 2011.
After apologizing on air Friday during the morning show, he repeated the mea culpa Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” possibly under threat of suspension.
“ABC is hoping this doesn’t spiral into a full-blown Brian Williams-style disaster,” the source said. “If more information comes out about George’s ties to the Clintons, things could get worse.

I think the very fact Stephanopoulos contributed big money to the Clinton Foundation has created a gigantic conflict of interest that will affect how he reports on the 2016 election. And that’s something the upper management at Disney (who owns ABC) don’t want.
Like he was never a hack from the Clinton Administration?

Were they not aware of his previous employment by the Clintons and his very close relationship with them??? Too bad ABC, you lose, again.
I’ll wager all the alphabet news organizations have this kind of secret or worse. Covering up their conflicts is all the more reason the MSM is going to make sure Hillary is not the nominee.
Here’s the added problem. Democratic primary period....debates with Hillary, O’Malley and Warren (if she jumps in). How can Warren or O’Malley allow him to be a player at the debate? How can Hillary win any debate without this guy tossing easy shots at her and curves at O’Malley?
So they yank him. But then for the rest of the ABC coverage....how can you trust anything he says? His only value is the 2016 election and the water he’ll carry for the Democratic cause. I think he’s a worthless player now for ABC. And if Hillary doesn’t have this guy in her corner....who can they yank up that has not paid into the foundation? Let’s go down the next four ABC names and see what they donated.
The only “moderator” one can find is if everyone in the audience places their name in a hat and gets drawn. ABC is too far lefty regardless of whose the leftard clown pretending to be impartial..

I interpreted his hiring by ABC as the network removing any pretense of objectivity. In my view, the hiring was an all in to be a leftist news station.
When asked who he was several thought he was a character on Sesame Street.
