Stop It, Liberals: Bush Didn’t Lie About Iraq Having WMDs

Liberals, please stop it with the Iraq war lies.

There is plenty of criticism that can be leveled against George W. Bush’s decision to invade Iraq in 2003, but he didn’t deliberately mislead the country about Iraq possessing weapons of mass destruction (WMD).

With the new cool question for 2016 Republican contenders being “knowing what we know now, would you have invaded Iraq,” the debate about pre-Iraq war intelligence has once again come to the forefront. Predictably, some liberals have used the occasion to again trot out the wholly dishonest spin that the Bush administration concocted evidence and pressured the intelligence community into saying that Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction.

Here’s Peter Beinart, who actually supported the Iraq war, propagating this nonsense in The Atlantic:

WHAT! Didn't valplames hubby discover that there were no wmd's while sipping tea in nigeria or something? See, this is a pack of lies as usual just to make Bush look bad. Basically boils down to them not finding any nuked tipped missiles. Nothing else is considered to be a wmd.

“knowing what we know now, would you have invaded Iraq,”

Stupid question. Second guessing is for petty people. You cannot fight yesterday’s battles with today’s intelligence.

“Nothing else is considered to be a wmd.”

That only applies to those allegedly in Iraq. The Boston bomber was charged with use of a WMD. (exploding pressure cooker)

On the highway from Baghdad to Damascus, the 18-wheelers were pounding day and night hauling load after load of chemical and biological weapons westward to huge underground warehouses, offloading their cargoes, and deadheading back to Baghdad to load up again.

Of course only empty warehouses were found in Iraq. Almost everything had been trucked out long before.

But Assad’s warehouses were chock-full, and this was one of the contentions. When various rebel groups captured some of them, using false flag strategy, they made it appear as if Assad were gassing his own people.

The world press and most of the more naive people in the countries they served are so gullible.

Most of the higher-ups had a pretty good idea of what was going on, but they weren’t talking. Still aren’t.

It does not matter, since after nearly a decade of that meme repeatedly being circulated without challenge, the majority of Americans now believes it.

Pre-war quotes from "lying" House and Senate democrats...

"In 1998, the United States also changed its underlying policy toward Iraq from containment to regime change and began to examine options to effect such a change, including support for Iraqi opposition leaders within the country and abroad.

In the 4 years since the inspectors, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al-Qaida members, though there is apparently no evidence of his involvement in the terrible events of September 11, 2001."

"It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein wiill continue to increase his capability to wage biological and chemical warfare and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons. Should he succeed in that endeavor, he could alter the political and security landscape of the Middle East which, as we know all too well, affects American security."

John Kerry on the floor of the Senate
October 2002:

"With respect to Saddam Hussein and the threat he presents, we must ask ourselves a simple question:

Why?

Why is Saddam Hussein pursuing weapons that most nations have agreed to limit or give up?

Why is Saddam Hussein guilty of breaking his own cease-fire agreement with the international community?

Why is Saddam Hussein attempting to develop nuclear weapons when most nations don't even try, and responsible nations that have them attempt to limit their potential for disaster?

Why did Saddam Hussein threaten and provoke?

Why does he develop missiles that exceed allowable limits?

Why did Saddam Hussein lie and deceive the inspection teams previously?

Why did Saddam Hussein not account for all of the weapons of mass destruction which UNSCOM identified?

Why is he seeking to develop unmanned airborne vehicles for delivery of biological agents?

Even the liberal New York Times:

C.I.A. Is Said to Have Bought and Destroyed Iraqi Chemical Weapon

The Central Intelligence Agency, working with American troops during the occupation of Iraq, repeatedly purchased nerve-agent rockets from a secretive Iraqi seller, part of a previously undisclosed effort to ensure that old chemical weapons remaining in Iraq did not fall into the hands of terrorists or militant groups, according to current and former American officials. The extraordinary arms purchase plan, known as Operation Avarice, began in 2005 and continued into 2006, and the American military deemed it a nonproliferation success. It led to the United States’ acquiring and destroying at least 400 Borak rockets, one of the internationally condemned chemical weapons that Saddam Hussein’s Baathist government manufactured in the 1980s but that were not accounted for by United Nations inspections mandated after the 1991 Persian Gulf war.

Many rockets were in poor condition and some were empty or held a nonlethal liquid, the officials said. But others contained the nerve agent sarin, which analysis showed to be purer than the intelligence community had expected given the age of the stock.

The lying and revision of history by this criminal enterprise called the democRAT party is sickening ....

"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line."
- President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998

"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction program."
- President Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998

”Iraq is a long way from [here], but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face."
- Madeline Albright, Feb 18, 1998

"He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983."
- Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998

"[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq’s refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs."
- Letter to President Clinton, signed by Sens. Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, and others Oct. 9, 1998

”Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."
- Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998

”Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies."
- Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999

"There is no doubt that ... Saddam Hussein has invigorated his weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs continue apace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. - Letter to President Bush, Signed by Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL) and others, December 5, 2001

"We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandate of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and the means of delivering them."
- Sen. Carl Levin (D, MI), Sept. 19, 2002

- Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002

"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is calculating America’s response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... Let’s keep replaying the left vs right false paradigm so that the fascists in the federal government can pass secret trade deals, militarize and federalize the police, ramp up the surveillance state, increase regulations, raise taxes, increase the prison population per capita and run more SWAT raids.

The Nazi feds want the peasants fighting among each other to divide and distract us. Police vs public, right vs left, black vs white, poor vs rich (but not the uber-rich Bill Gates, Buffet etc). The federal government is the enemy because its no longer controlled by the people. Wake up and don’t be sucked into their vortex.

” militarize and federalize the police”. Lucky for us that the lyin’ king just issued a proclamation stopping the militarization part. As for “just us bro” al (not so) sharpton and federalized police, we’ll have to wait and see about that one. I’m positive that the pubbie controlled CONgress wouldn’t allow that to happen. Right?
