Rand Paul is filibustering the Patriot Act right now, because it continues the unlimited NSA spying on all Americans.

Even on social issues Rand I think is miles ahead of where many Republicans conservatives get behind are. I mean, yes there are real problems but Rand is one of a tiny handful who could be counted on at all to stand up for the rights of states like Texas, Georgia, Arizona, Kansas, Oklahoma and others to make their own policies on abortion and gay marriage when the rest of the Feds are trying to strong arm them into having gay marriage and abortion on demand. That makes him one of the top 3 Republican candidates, at least, on social issues.

Rand Paul has been very consistent on this issue.

“Right before an election”? You mean the one in a year and half?

“I think we live under a soft Tyranny under a Federal Gov. that is controlled by Bipartisan Fascists, who are all in on finishing building the NWO.”

I think you nailed it.

Why aren’t there other Republicans and Dems standing up to this? It needs reigned in. The only rights that too many in Congress protect are of the lobbyists and multinationals that own them. At least Rand Paul is taking a stand on something. Few of them take a stand on anything unless the winds are blowing in that direction.

Wow someone in congress actually doing something about this Patriot Act and he is one of few repubs against TPP.

Good for him!

No excuse for the rest of them.

Good for you. Others’ lives have.
The law has been expanded to Orwellian proportions.
And still the law is broken without regard.
Don’t you care or wonder why agencies the the government operate without regard to the rule of law?

All for show...he lasted 11 hours. That’s just work and an overtime shift. What a joke.

Who are the folks who have been impacted by the Patriot Act?
What are agencies doing that is outside the rule of law? Currently the Patriot Act Is the Law.

I agree changes need to be made and that is why I support Mike Lee’s Bill.

Well Rand Paul used those 11 hours to explain what the Patriot Act really is to a lot of Americans. Most people don’t really even know what it is. I applaud him.

Actually, I wasn’t please with Cruz’s 16 hour(?) filibuster last year, either. If these guys are going to do this, they really need to have them last a serious amount of time.

By the way, so you don’t get the wrong impression....I TOTALLY support Rand Paul’s position on the NSA violation of the 4th amendment. I’m just old and cynical about political stunts, I guess. They irritate me. (Should I go get a cup of coffee?)

Again though I would say that these sort of non filibusters do actually give a lawmaker sufficient time to educate people about complex issues. Otherwise all you hear is what Mitch McConnell, Orrin Hatch, etc have to say on the matter and they are mostly always lying.

Also it does my heart good to see a few guys stand up once in awhile. :-)

I understand. There’s almost a virtual void in the leadership world these days.

Forgive me for being an old grouch.
