Ted Cruz: 'Global Warming Alarmists Are The Equivalent Of The Flat-Earthers'
Huffington Post ^ | 03/25/2015 1:12 pm EDT | Kate Sheppard

Ted Cruz, the junior U.S. senator from Texas and first official contender for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, compared people who think that the climate is warming to "flat-Earthers" and described himself as a modern-day Galileo in an interview with the Texas Tribune.

"On the global warming alarmists, anyone who actually points to the evidence that disproves their apocalyptical claims, they don't engage in reasoned debate," Cruz said in an interview with reporter Jay Root on Tuesday. "What do they do? They scream, 'You're a denier.' They brand you a heretic. Today, the global warming alarmists are the equivalent of the flat-Earthers. It used to be [that] it is accepted scientific wisdom the Earth is flat, and this heretic named Galileo was branded a denier."

Root noted that Cruz's disbelief that the planet is warming puts him out of step with younger voters. But Cruz dug in.

"I'm a big believer that we should follow the science, and follow the evidence. If you look at global warming alarmists, they don't like to look at the actual facts and the data. The satellite data demonstrate that there has been no significant warming whatsoever for 17 years," said Cruz. "Now that's a real problem for the global warming alarmists. Because all those computer models on which this whole issue is based predicted significant warming, and yet the satellite data show it ain't happening."

While the argument that the satellite data does not show temperatures rising is a favorite among climate deniers, it represents a skewed view on what we know about temperatures conditions on Earth. Average global temperatures are still increasing, just not as quickly as they did in previous years, largely due to ocean cycles. And claiming that a pause disputes that warming is occurring ignores

“Average global temperatures are still increasing, just not as quickly as they did in previous years, largely due to ocean cycles. “

Yup, their models are wrong but they still whine and twist their spin. Fox's Stossel interviewed people on the street in NYC, about global warming. Stossel asked about all the frigid snowy weather they were having. One gal said global warming is heating the ocean water, causing more moisture in the air which leads to more snow in the city. Stossel more or less said "Huh. So if the ocean water gets cooled then we'd have less snow!." The camera dwelt on the gal's puzzled face for a while as her head exploded in confusion. Alarmists like that gal can't deal with debate points that prove the falsity of global warming theories.

Marxists don’t give a crap about the environment.

When Communism fell in the 80s, in the USA, the Communist movement turned into environMENTAList movement.

Like a bowel movement very similar.

They do not give a crap about the Earth.

In other words, Envirotards.

The problem is that we've had much more serious temperature extremes within the last 1500 years. People forget that from the time the Roman Empire fell up to the middle 1300's, Europe was much warmer than now, and enjoyed such long agricultural seasons that famines were rarely an issue during the so-called Dark Ages. But then, winters in Europe turned really cold, and that combined with the arrival of the bubonic plague ended up killing 1/3 of the European population between 1346 and 1354.

We know that the Sun hugely determines Earth's climate. Thanks to record taking of sunspots after Galileo invented the modern refracting telescope at the beginning of the 17th Century, we know that between 1645 and 1715, there was essentially NO sunspots seen on the Sun, and that perfectly coincided with the famous Maunder Minimum that resulted in winters so cold that the Thames and Seine Rivers in Europe easily froze over during the winter.

There are other models but they come from those capitalist fiends so they are despised.

Prior to modern means of measuring solar output nobody would be able to know if it really changed, absent something like being able to probe the equivalent of meteorological artifacts on other planets. I wonder if lurking somewhere on, say, Saturn is evidence like this. That might show that oh, Saturn was having a (relative) ice age while Earth was having one too. That would point a finger right at Old Sol.

It’s also an all purpose weapon against any way that mankind might prosper, because ohhhhh that is going to push the hot button on the weather! (Or if not that, then the cold button, or the mixed hot and cold button, or something that We Will Not Like.)

Phoooey ptui.

Ted should not waste his time on Tomorrowland then. Of course, no one else should either.

While I haven't seen Interstellar yet, it seems to be a jab at global warming hypsters.

Huff and puff finally admits warming has significantly slowed and they also admit models have been wrong, film at 11.

There was one thing they could measure, and that was the sunspot activity. The very fact that we know the records of no sunspot activity between 1645 and 1715 perfect matched the records of very cold winters show that there was already a way to determine how bad winters could be anyway. That’s why some of the highest rainfall totals in California with the last 50 years came during periods of low sunspot activity, which meant a cooler upper atmosphere in winter, allowing the jet stream to travel further south during the winter months.

Sorry I know I just posted. I like Ted more and more. So well articulated, Rubio too.

I cannot imagine Hillery in a debate with him. He will bowl her over!

But what happens if he gets elected? We know both sides are in bed with each other against America from what I gather.

My first election year was 1980. I see a lot of the qualities of Reagan in Cruz, anybody else?

Thanks

The spots could reflect upon and/or force climate producing conditions in a number of ways.

But the sun itself radiating more or less (and perhaps in certain bands), is something that the technology hasn’t been there to quantify except the last century or so.

Good science would be following up as vigorously as possible. The sun flickering (on a centuries scale) would be huge news and something that really is worth keeping an eye upon.

Yes Ted Cruz is pretty much on target with that statement.

Someone wanna post a pic of the house Arianna Huffington lives in? Tell me how much energy she uses in her mansion(s)?

I remember when Al Gore’s electricity use was documented. I figured out that he used more electricity in a couple of months then my house used in an entire year.

These elitist Global Warming cultists can shove it.
