Blatter’s power base in Africa, Asia, and (with the notable exception of the U.S) the CONCACAF (North America, Central America, and the Caribbean) regions held firm. He continues to ride on making sure those places get flooded with kickbacks and posturing that the “old world” (specifically, Europe) is just resentful of soccer being a true “world game”.
Whether anyone believes that garbage or whether they’re just in it for the swag is irrelevant. The ones profiting from the regime aren’t going to put an end to it.
Hopefully, there will eventually be enough indictments/arrests from a variety of governments to topple the whole damn thing. This is a house that needs to be cleansed from top to bottom anyway - just removing Blatter would only have concealed the rot, not cut it out.

Why should the U.S. DOJ waste time and our money on this BS? FIFA isn’t a U.S. organization and has its offices in Switzerland. Makes about as much sense as going after OPEC for price fixing. Most Americans don’t give a rat’s posterior about FIFA or soccar for that matter.
Next up is the vote to kick Israel out of FIFA, for the horrible crime of being Jewish, and politically-incorrect.
This seems a little like Watergate in that, ok maybe they did something they shouldn’t, but everyone else was and had been for a long time doing exactly the same thing. So they nab these people not really for doing the same misdeed that had been standard for years, but for political reasons. Obama wants to take the 2018 World Cup away from Russia. That is how it looks to me.
I am not saying wrongs do not need to be set right. I am saying that if they investigate this one, lets investigate all the past ones, too. While we are at it let’s investigate all of these big sporting events. I’ll be there is a ton of dirt under those rugs.
At a certain point when wrong practice has become standard, it ceases to be justice to just punish the last guilty party. Simply expose it and turn it around for the future. It is soccer after all. This is not the biggest issue in the world.

It is amazing to me that, with the middle east in flames, the Chinese AND the Russians making war threats against the west, the entire world economy seemingly one step away from collapse, the U.S. economy contracting, unemployment (despite what the govt goons say) at record levels, race war brewing etc. etc. etc. that this story GETS ANY PLAY AT ALL!
