Correct. Bill Clinton sexually assaulted women in the White House, had Arkansas State Troopers escort a least one female state employee to his hotel room, where he had his pants off and told her told her to “kiss it”, while state troopers stood guard outside, and the media shrugs its metaphorical Gallic shoulders. That was after he forcibly raped another women whom he lured into his hotel room on the pretext of “state business”. But let a 77 year old Republican date his same age secretary and it’s a “scandal”. Sheesh, people.

I’d might have guessed 1979 or 1978.

In Massachusetts, the custom among legislators is to hire each others mistresses. The distinguished representative from Sommerville “hires” the mistress of the distinguished representative from Chelsea, who in turn hires Sommerville’s mistress. An exchange of hostages, as it were. No perjury on official forms, no one who is in a position to rat them out. Even if you break off with the mistress she keeps her job for a couple of election cycles, which would be impossible without this civilized arrangement. Where’s the harm? Other than to their families and the to the public?

If his marriage was the only issue I’d agree; just let him be. BUT...Haley Barbour and the RINO GOP establishment bought black Democrat votes to defeat Chris McDaniel when McDaniel was clearly the choice of the people. Without the GOP establishment buying these black democrat votes Thad would have been sent packing and a new Tea Party supporting senator sent to Washington. The establishment couldn’t afford to give up that position, especially to a Tea Partier, so Thad, after having said otherwise, decided to run. I fully expect him to “retire to spend time with his family/new wife/fill in the blank” as soon as Haley has his boy properly groomed or perhaps Ol’ Thad can make it 5 years and then the governor can just appoint Haley’s boy.

Gee, anyone think that the esteemed Senator will return to his home state after he leaves office?

His late wife was institutionalized for 13 years with dementia.

He was, essentially, without a wife.

Hope you judges never find yourself in the same situation one day.

Senator Cochran supposedly lives in this woman’s home while in DC.

Good point. I don’t begrudge him his “extramarital” relationship. But the girlfriend should not have stayed on as paid staff. And of course, his primary win remains an extraordinarily foul deed, even by GOPe standards.

“His late wife was institutionalized for 13 years with dementia.”

She was 73 when she died.

60 years old is very very young to have dementia.

He has been with this other woman since the early 80’s.

Somehow they got her institutionalized at 60, 13 years ago.

They probably thought she wouldn’t take 13 years to die.

Dementia can strike younger people also, even in their 40’s. It’s more typical in older people, but it indeed can start much earlier in the unlucky ones.
