Waco Judge Agrees to Let Most Bikers Go If They Sign Contract Not to Sue for Wrongful Arrest
Washington Weekly News ^ | May 31, 2015 | Looney and Conrad Law Firm

“It appears the public defenders office in McLennan County is involved in this scurrilous activity,” said Paul Looney, a Houston attorney with Looney & Conrad, P.C. “I’ve never seen anything like the lawlessness that the authorities have perpetrated on these people and now to add insult to injury they are trying to cover their own tracks in exchange for bond.”

74 cubic inches (1200 cc) is the displacement of standard Harley Davidson ‘big twin’ engines and some Sportsters through most of the Shovelhead era (mid to late ‘70s), replaced later by the 80 inch stock motor.

If you were talking about real outlaw bikers or even wannabe outlaw bikers, your guess would be absolutely correctamundo -- any self-respecting bad boy biker or would-be bad boy biker has a criminal record, most of them LONG criminal records.

The LACK of criminal records in about two thirds of those arrested is what confirmed for me that this was an LEO operation gone seriously sideways and a clear abuse of power.

You are ignorant of the facts. Bone up before you present such a bone-headed ill-informed opinion.

Were you aware that only about one in three arrested even has a criminal record?

I appreciate that. But it doesn’t make their chins fat. Big difference when you look at their bellies, and then their faces. If there faces look like hogs, they are fat. There are so many cops that are clearly out of shape...I really wonder how often they have to pass a PT test.

If the stress on them is the reason they can retire at 50, then perhaps we should expect them to take better care of themselves.

Yes, I was incorrect in my “assumption.” And you are correct—can you imagine having your wife call the accounting firm and telling them you will not be in for work on Monday because you got swept up in that mess? I drove through Texas last year on my motorcycle. I could have just as easily gone through that town as any other on my trip.

What a mess that is.

It will take lots of time and people to truly mess with the forensics.

For every bullet they need to find a firearm at the scene.

So, turning 223 holes into .38 holes would take a major conspiracy. I think too many felonies involved for it to happen that way.

We are close to knowing (reports) that 4 officers fired multiple rounds from distance. I think they evidence is not looking good for the on-scene LEOs.

Roger. What’s the significance of the number 13?

It appears that those who were released are those who had “real” charges made against them.

Those who were rounded up, the usual suspects so-to-speak, are the ones who are being asked to sign the no law suit clause. It appears to me that the local DA is thinking that those in jail will give up short term pain in return for him saving the city millions.

It depends on the individual, but for most it is thumbing your nose at the perception that the number 13 is bad luck.

These were tag-alongs, “gangsters in name only.”

There may BE a racketeering core to the gangs, but it does not imply that activity embraces, or is embraced by, everyone who acquires rights to fly their colors. Which fact folks like Gator and GunLover worked tirelessly to obscure. The worst they could actually accuse was that the gang as a whole was getting baksheesh due to its high representation in CoC organizations.

We have a moment of truth here. Are we going to follow American traditions of law that prosecute specific crimes, or are we going to be a Ministry Of Vice And Virtue? The second territory belongs rightfully to churches, NOT to governments, at least not to ones of enumerated powers.

A class action lawsuit seems to be in order here. Can there still be qui tam (whistle blower) action even if there is acceptance of these non-suit agreements?

Doesn’t being a “Stay Puff Marshmallow Man” prove guns are equalizers?

They sure as hell couldn’t chase anyone down without suffering at least a mild stroke....

Amen. God keep you safe on that motorcycle. I myself hail from a long line of “Burt Munro” guys except on Harleys instead of Indians.

I ride one of those big BMW dirt bikes. I get mistaken more for an astronaut looking guy than a leather wearing gang member.
