I am a non-violent person. I wouldn’t kick a dog .... that is unless it was trying to bite me or someone else.

My minister certainly doesn’t advocate violence. He’s lived an interesting life. He’s even had the KKK burn a cross in front of his church before because the church bus was bringing in black children. They asked him what he was trying to do. He said, “Tell them how to get saved.”

He’s a wonderful man and he stands for what is right. I get a lot out of his services.

His recent comments about defending what you believe in are related to Memorial Day. He said that God approves of war when necessary. You have to be on the right side, of course.

“I can’t think of anything more rude than giving unsolicited advice.”

Well, Glen Campbell didn’t think so.

My beloved mother-in-law never had a weight problem, however her mother, whom she adored, was obese. Her mother died young.

Surprisingly she never passed up the opportunity to make a comment about a person's weight. Not loud enough for the person to hear it, but always within earshot of the person she was with.

She was such a nice person, I was always shocked when she did this. The only way to explain this behavior to myself was to chalked it up to a subconscious fear she had of turning out like her mother.

We would be starting a crowbar waiting list, registration and town hall meetings on the dangers of crowbar ownership.... If she would have ‘open carried’ the dude would never have said anything... “I will give up my crowbar when they pry it from my cold, dead fingers”.....etc etc

Only for black tactical crowbars. And of course, the feds would give grants to the cops to get military crowbars made of titanium with ergonomic carbon-fiber handles for a thousand tax-dollars a pop, while everyone else had to make do with steel. Freepers would argue the various merits of length, shape and diameter, based on high-speed videos of various options button hitting watermelons. Then the thread would wind out on arguments of watermelons versus coconuts versus denting plastic explosives like they used to do in 'Nam before they lit it on fire to cook dinner in the the bush. And, of course, there would be the argument about Saturday Night Crowbars and the plight of the poor needing self- defense weapons too. And finally, BATF would be caught setting up an illegal sting operation smuggling cheap Chinese crowbars into the hands of street thugs while Pelosi introduced a crowbar-control law that mandated checking children's lunches for "weldable metal material of ballistic weight" as specified in 1,947 additional pages to of added to the Federal Register once Republicans stopped protecting the slaughter on the streets with their partisan indifference to the suffering of the folks.

I must say that if you really believe killing someone is the proper response to a mild insult based on someone’s actual body shape then you gave either mental or emotional issues, or perhaps both. I guess your mother never taught you the old saying about sticks and stones.

And you don’t much care for your Mother nor spouse since your response is to cower.

To each his or her own, I suppose.

Sticks and Stones may break my Bones but Words will never hurt me.

The heck you say. I dropped my unabridged dictionary on my foot one day. I limped for a week.

That is what I meant to say.....<: <: <:

Of course the MSM would label EVERYTHING from a claw hammer to a file an assault crowbar.

Then some wag would claim it an Automatic Crow Bar because the wielder hit the guy 6 times without taking a breath and the Governor of NY (yeah the genius that declared the two dudes that sawed and drilled their way out jail must have been working on a plan) would declare it a hate crime if you struck more than 3 times in one attack and didn’t take a 2 minute break before the next 3 blows. Of course the idiot would never figure out that the 2 minutes between 3 blows would just give the wielder time to rest, enabling him to hit harder.

*shrug*

I make comments all the time. Not necessarily on weight, but on most things, and I’ve had a few people get a bit uppity, but never was attacked.

It probably helps that I’m a big lad, but I only say things that need saying heh.

..I only say things that need saying...

Commenting on another patron's weight wouldn't be in that category, would it?

"Even my minister says there’s a time to fight. He said you can insult or harm him but when it comes to family, it’s a different matter. He certainly believes in turning the other cheek."

For that woman turning the other cheek is an all day job!

I’ll put this as politely as I can. Only a simpleton or deranged person offers such wild, exaggerated extremes as the only two viable responses to an insult. For example, the leaders of North Korea threatens all sorts of nuclear holocaust on the likes of Sony Pictures for creating a silly film lampooning their regime. Jihadis threaten beheading for unflattering cartoons.

Now, you don’t really want people to think you’re in the same nutty group do you?

These are the times that try our souls... well, they try what our souls are looking at.

When the whole community is being decent and gracious, the media carrying wholesome messages, then individual lapses in the same are more easily recovered from. Because we don’t need much of a faith when living up to the views of our neighbors or something equally superficial.

When public manners have gone to rot, now we can see who would prefer to love God and who would prefer to love the devil.

The devil does not care if he has pushed you off the path to the left or right, so long as he does push you off the path.

If an obviously drunk man walks into a bar, staggers to the bar, tries to sit down and falls on the floor then gets up and slurs, “Gimme a drink,” the bartender has the option of obligation of saying, “I’m sorry, buddy, but you have had enough!”
If a 400/500-pound slob walks into a restaurant then why can’t a maître de at the restaurant say, “I’m sorry, buddy, but you have had enough”????? ;-)
I've been thin, and I've been (am) overweight. And whether you are overweight or not, you still get hungry at dinner time. If you are 25 pounds overweight, that's from what you ate last week, and the week before that - not from what you ate today.
Deciding what other people need is leftism.

And it is quite obvious to me that other people need to get a sense of humor, namely, YOU.
