Embattled McKinney police officer resigns following pool party video

The Texas police officer at the center of a controversial video that showed him forcefully handcuffing and drawing his gun on a group of black teenagers at a pool party last weekend has resigned, the city’s police chief announced Tuesday.

McKinney Police Chief Greg Conley called Cpl. Eric Casebolt’s actions “indefensible” and noted that the officer, who was under investigation, “resigned on his own will.”

“As the video shows, he was out of control during the incident,” Conley said, “I had 12 officers on the scene and 11 of them performed according to their training.”

He said the internal investigation into Casebolt’s actions is now over.

“I do not condone the actions of those individuals who violated the rules of the community and showed disrespect to the security personnel on the scene and officers,” he added.

“I do not condone the actions of those individuals who violated the rules of the community and showed disrespect to the security personnel on the scene and officers,”

Well you kinda do if you haven't mentioned the actions at the pool that lead up to the event in question.

Whatever, the smartest thing for the officer in question WAS to resign and get the hell out of that city........

I envision more emboldened lawbreakers this summer.
Officer Eric Casebolt was prudently reacting to those two young men running to his side and behind him.
My bet is there were not a dozen officers on the scene at time of that footage.

Lesson learned. If you’re black, commit crimes. Cops can’t touch you. I normally am leery of cops. But watching this guy he handled it correctly. McKinny is in for a wild summer. And that neighborhood better keep their eyes open all night.

No problem.

This article makes it clear how chicken-bleep the McKinney police chief is.

1. I didn’t see any “thuggish teens” sneaking up behind him. Agitated, sure. Thuggish? Didn’t see any indication of that.

2. Watch the full video, and compare this officer’s conduct to the conduct of every other officer on the scene. All of the other officers in the video look professional, are calmly (but authoritatively) speaking with people, and appear to be trying to figure out what is going on and to de-escalate the situation. This guy was doing none of those things. Instead, he was running around, shouting orders, and generally re-escalating the environment.

So did the 12th officer who just resigned. He was surrounded by three active youths, one of whom went into a shooting stance. Potentially intentionally provocatively.

This is part of a Democrat/Obama/Chicago inspired political plot to insure that blacks don’t leave the plantation. Keep them so off balanced and angry that they cannot think.

I pick a different key quote .... "I do not condone the actions of those individuals who violated the rules of the community and showed disrespect to the security personnel on the scene and officers,"

Assuming the guy that quit is a hothead, then kudos to him for sparing his chief more hassle; and may the hothead seek and acquire better judgment. But the bigger issue is the message to the general public - cops should not have to fight to get somebody to just leave the scene. Heck, I'm generally keen on getting out of LEO's view, the world is a big place, plenty of places to go to "have fun" and not run afoul of an order to disperse.

Thugs +1
Police -1

McKinny chief of police may find his police force facing a long, hot summer of thuggery, thanks to his actions and comments today.

McKinny police union should notify its personnel to be on alert that the Chief does NOT have their backs, as they go about their daily patrols and emergency calls.

I thought I saw an officer pat him on the shoulder to calm him down. He was going berserk.

I hate cops, but they threw this cop overboard for nothing.

I would have done exactly the same thing as he did.

This is really not good —word will spread that it’s STUPID to do proper police work, then property rights will suffer and when THAT happens, EVERYONE suffers.

This was the result of the Grievance Elite Machine and plain white cowardice.

1. I’m not going to call them thuggish, but they were moving towards the officer in a coordinated matter. As there were three of them, they would have been too much for him to handle without having to pull a weapon.

2. No other officer, at least until this point in time, was in a situation where they were being targeted by multiple individuals simultaneously.

3. The arrest was well done and very textbook. When she resisted, he used enough force, but not too much, to overcome her resistance. She went down from feet to head and was not injured.

Yup. Not seeing a lot of discussion that the thug in question actually may have had a gun, too, as possibly shown by some vidoe from the incident.

LOL, if that still taken from the video is a shooting stance, it sure is different than mine, there are a lot of stances as young bodies move around in a video.

The cop resigned, he resigned very quickly, and I wonder why he left the Texas Highway Patrol after about 2 years or less.

This guy is just too emotional and hysterical for police work, the crazy cussing revealed that.
