Nearly 100 years ago, Walter Lippmann wrote about “the manufacture of consent” in his classic work, “Public Opinion.” On the heels of that book, Edward Bernays penned a little volume called “Propaganda,” in which he stated that an elite would always be responsible for making the public aware of “new ideas” which the public would then act upon as the elite nudged them into it. Related, but more in-depth is Jacques Ellul’s 1962 book, “Propaganda: The Formation of Men’s Attitudes.”

Rush is currently reading parts of this article right now live on the air.

So much about this is everything that I blog about, and it is why I am so focused on the early 20th century progressives.

All roads lead back to 100 years ago.

As a part of my own personal effort to attempt to make early 20th century progressivism easier to consume, perhaps study, choose whatever term you prefer......

Stella is very ingenious to direct all conservatives to look into this book. She opens the article with it.

My contribution is that I recorded the entirety of the book, and put it out for free on the internet to be consumed and studied. It is not a waste of time for conservatives to start to understand these people.

The Progressive Movement gave us the 16th, 17th, and 18th Amendments (1 repealed, 2 to go). It also showed a disdain for free speech, except when it was Progressives’ free speech. It planted the seeds for the Liberal crap we’ve suffered under for a century. Liberals/Progressives need to be fought, not debated. Debating with a Liberal/Progressive has as much value as would debating with someone from ISIS.

Funny...I've been so on the same page for some while on this concept that popular society has come to a total break with reality. ...

But it is self evident to any rational person... its like being sane person in an insane asylum...

I like to say the state and media has reached the 2+2=5 moment and I'm shock to see so many go along...

the deliberate breaking down of reality in society by the political forces of the left ....the destruction of self evident reason...IE 2+2=5. brainwashing the masses to the whim of tyrants

We are very nearly at that point.

People need to be educated about the fact that Progressivism is totally Deconstructionist. It tears down anything it can get it hands on with the empty promise of something better.

They also need to understand that Progressives have no actual principles. They only have goals. They are predatory to their core.

If you have never seen The Century of Self, it is a very good documentary about the beginnings of mass crowd control and mass marketing.

The Progressive project called Jonestown gives many insights into the nature of American-style collectivism.

Jonestown was both a foreshadowing and an aspirational pilot project.

The cult of the State ends in societal death, every time.

Yes - but actually, it is insufficient in the age of mass communications. We need, we must have, a free press free and independent presses.

In fact, SCOTUS is wrong in calling money “speech.” Talk is cheap - it is printing presses, ink, and paper which cost money. And don’t question the connection between freedom of the literal printing press of the founding era and freedom of the Internet and cable - yes, and over-the-airwaves broadcast - of today.

Article 1 Section 8.

The Congress shall have power . . . To promote the progress of science and useful arts, by securing for limited times to authors and inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveries . . .

implies that the framers anticipated that printing press would be improved upon.
Amendment 9 -

The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

This directly rebuts the notion that the First Amendment is a ceiling over our liberties - it is intended only as floor beneath them. The framers did provide a means of adjusting the unregulated advance of technology on the press, but it would be really hard to get an amendment to the First Amendment ratified.

The reason we are troubled by “the media” is simple; Adam Smith condemned the source of the problem three generations before it arose:

That motive operates on all journalists; it is their reason for existence. Thus they make the absurd claim of their own objectivity based on their mutual-admiration-society AP membership.

The effect is that journalists are free to promote the idea which is the exact opposite of Theodore Roosevelt’s famous dictum, “It is not the critic who counts . . . the credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena . . .” And what is the most pithy expression of the opposite of that dictum? Elizabeth Warren announced it, and Obama and Hillary! echo it:

You didn’t build that.
Which is obviously cynicism - and socialist dogma.

It’s what “community organizers” work towards, whether they know it or not...... Once the masses are mobilized to push for a cause, the propagandists’ goals can be put into law.”....

It’s now wonder they use the word “Forward” so often...and call themselves Progressives!

Good post, and a bump! This is an incredibly important topic.

In the article, she says humor can defeat them. Ridicule. That is why today’s comedians are not funny—just mean. Real humor is not allowed as it skewers progressives.

We do this pretty much with everything.....then they yell ‘the sky is falling’...fear and anxiety quickly follow. So rather than actually use the time to debate and discuss there’s a mass effort wasted just in calming down the people to “think” rather than react.

Meanwhile “times out” they shove it through and people scratch their heads wondering why things happen as they do.

None of which are on the shopping list for that money. Political spending is all about mass media buys.

Is black culture toxic, poisonous, bazaar, a toilet.?.

Are blacks aborting their children at a higher rate than other races?..

Why are mulattoes generally “nastier” than the 100% blacks?..

Is WHITE a color?..

Are they a mulatto?.. PimPing blackness vs. whiteness(some other race)?
Very hard to find a mulatto pimping whiteness...
