Conservative Rep: It Takes ‘Moral Courage’ To Stand Up To GOP Leadership
dailycaller.com ^ | Ginni Thomas

Scott Perry, 53, is a sophomore congressman from Dillsburg, Penn. Exuding a humble intensity and a mindfulness of his oath to the U.S. Constitution, his daily orientation in public office means he takes no vote for granted.rWhat do you think?

“It’s a fight every day,” Perry says in this 22-minute exclusive video interview with The Daily Caller.

Yet, Republican leaders, increasingly governing by fear, risk continuing dissension and disarray. Evidence is building that Republicans, who are failing to persuade those members with differing opinions, and catering to monied interests in Washington, are alienating Americans who voted for them.

This interview was filmed June 10, prior to a series of divisive trade votes in the House. Perry, believing his leadership was mistaken on what was best for America on these votes, felt the wrath of opposing the Republican leadership. He was one of the 34, 54, 158 and 50 Republicans who challenged the prevailing pressure by GOP leaders to grant President Obama new trade powers at the risk of eroding national sovereignty.rWhat do you think?

His phones were ringing off the hook in support of his vote from his district and nationwide after he cast these trade votes.

What it takes to stand up to GOPe leadership is something with which they have no experience. They are incapable of doing what their real constituents want. All they know how to do is scheme, appease, lie, equivocate and pander. They are simpering cowards.

The FIRST question I ask of those members of Congress who profess their commitment to conservatism is: “Did you vote to retain Boehner as Speaker (or McConnell as Senate leader)?”

The You-Better-Go-Along-To-Get-Along Establishment Republican leadership. Is there anything they don’t agree with Brack on?

Of which my rep (#4 in the House GOP) apparently has none.

Frankly, I’m done with all of them. We don’t have a Constitutional Republic anymore. We have a nation controlled by hucksters, thieves and liars.

I know Scott Perry and he’s a good guy. Being an Iraq War vet though, he focuses more on Foreign Policy and Military matters than in battling the Obama Regime on domestic issues. Also, he made himself vulnerable to the GOP-E by accepting a sub-committee chairmanship in exchange for voting for Boehner as Speaker back in January. I gave him hell for that one, and I’m certain that he now regrets that vote.

If he voted for Boner, he has no credibility with me.

Of course. But is there enough of it? I sure don’t see it. Too many in the “hold their nose and vote” crowd.

The kenyan is trying to divide and destroy the GOP as an effective opposition to his brand of Banana Republic marxism. The GOP pigs are apparently too greedy and arrogant to notice what is happening.

These conservatives are risking their careers to stand up to the GOPe. They do deserve respect for that.

This congressman is my congressman and I have long experience with him having been at the Republican Party meetings and events with Scott when he was younger.

Scott Perry grew up in the cradle of the liberal Pennsylvania Republicans who ran the party here in York County.

One of his big mentors was former State Representative Bruce Smith, a staunch Pro-Abortion Republican and ex-teacher Pennsylvania State Education Association union member.

Perry ran to replace Smith in 2006 when Smith was forced into retirement because he voted to raise legislators pay 16 percent.

I doubt Perry’s sincerity based on my experience. I have more evidence in the file cabinet beyond what I posted in #17 regarding his political background.

Perry had Boehner in the district for a fundraiser a few years ago as well.

He was raised in the party apparatus as a GOPe liberal and adopted the “Patriot” moniker in 2006 running for state representative amid the pay raise scandal and his mentor Bruce Smith being forced out for approving the 16 percent pay raise for legislators.

... felt the wrath of opposing the Republican leadership

This government was set up to prevent a kingdom. Unfortunately, we've set up kingdoms in Congress. When a Congressman can't represent his state without such repercussions, we no longer have a representative government.

Read my posts #17 and #18. I honestly think an act is being put on since the trade garbage passed anyway.

Its an act for us folks back home, pure and simple....

Unlike others in the GOP, Perry has not had his subcommittee chairmanship taken away from him like Mark Meadows from North Carolina did at the hands of Jason Chafettz.
