Texas Governor Defends Religious Liberties…And It’s HARDCORE!

Today marks what could be considered one of the most controversial days in the history of the United States of America. If you haven’t heard, the Supreme Court has decided that same-sex marriage is now a Constitutional right and that traditional marriage between one man and one woman is no longer the definition of marriage.

There is one state (and if you have read my articles before, you know which one I’m talking about) that is already leading the way, in essence combating SCOTUS and their disastrous decision. Of course, I’m talking about the Lone Star State.

In a directive issued in the last few hours, Texas Governor Gregg Abbott has informed all those agencies that they are to comply with the First Amendment of the United States Constitution, Article I of the Texas Constitution, and the Texas Religious Freedom Act. In other words, he just shut down same-sex marriage in Texas and ordered everyone to preserve the religious liberties and First Amendment rights of all Texans.

Read it here:

“Texans of all faiths must be absolutely secure in the knowledge that their religious freedom is beyond the reach of government,” Governor Abbott wrote in the memorandum obtained by Breitbart Texas. “Renewing and reinforcing that promise is all the more important in light of the Supreme Court’s decision in Obergefell v. Hodges. The government must never pressure a person to abandon or violate his or her sincerely held religious beliefs regarding a topic such as marriage. That sort of religious coercion will never be a ‘compelling governmental interest,’ and it will never be ‘the least restrictive means of furthering that interest.’”

“With these obligations in mind,” Abbott continued, “I expect all agencies under my direction to prioritize compliance with the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, Article I of the Texas Constitution, and the Texas Religious Freedom Restoration Act. All state agency heads should ensure that no one acting on behalf of their agency takes any adverse action against any person, as defined in Chapter 311 of the Texas Government Code, on account of the person’s act or refusal to act that is substantially motivated by sincere religious belief. This order applies to any agency decision, including but not limited to granting or denying benefits, managing agency employees, entering or enforcing agency contracts, licensing and permitting decisions, or enforcing state laws and regulations.”

Texas is truly the leader in Conservative principles and continues to uphold the values held by so many Americans.  They are on the forefront in combating Obama on nearly everything thing he does.  God Bless Texas and the men and woman who fight for our freedoms everyday there.

and if those two liberal supreme court judges had recused themselves, the decision would have been 4-3 —against—.

Wrong. Roberts would have joined the other side. It would have been the same result.

The result was pre-determined before the case came to the court. Roberts joined the dissent because Kennedy gave him cover.

Can’t tell you how many times I think of that quote these days.

It will have to be more and more people’s motto with regard to the court.

It’s quite possible to be determined and motivated.. and calm. Don’t let those of the darkside see the anger until we WANT them to see it.

We have been that. It hasn't worked.

Don’t let those of the darkside see the anger until we WANT them to see it.

What better time than now for them to see our anger?

“On the evening news yesterday, it showed gays and lesbians
streaming in to get their license in my small Tx city.
Made me ill.”

Yep... same here.

I guess they didn’t get the memo from Abbott or......

“Texas has gay marriage and the governor is telling state employees to follow the First Amendment and the court. Gay people were getting married in Texas yesterday.”

That’s very disappointing. His statement indicated otherwise.

Nice to speak with you, Marcella ~ Understood ... We are ripe in the hands of a fascist takeover, there leaves little doubt now. I am in Iowa, and although 1/2 red & 1/2 blue, Iowa will fold like an accordion if push comes to shove.

Some reactive steps I took yesterday after hours of gut and hand wrenching ... Made a contribution to FR .... Joined several great Christian groups on FB ... Unfriended all businesses and friends that celebrated the ruling, and purchased An Appeal to Heaven flag for display. Next on the agenda, a contribution to Ted Cruz. I closed with a prayer thanking God for Texas :)

Although the circle of my world is extremely small, I was able to catch a few hours sleep after executing these minute, but somewhat healing actions ~

Take care

For any newcomers who don't know about the White House pervert’s proclivities, it bears repeating. I am interested in getting an Appeal to Heaven flag. My hope is in the Lord and the fighting men and women of the USA who will become freedom fighters and push back by whatever means against the enemy in our White House.

So what he’s saying is no clerk can be fired for not issuing a gay marriage license. County clerks do that and Abbott has no control over them. But I guess he’s letting their bosses know that they better not punish the clerks who refuse to issue a license to a gay couple.

Abbott would make me feel a lot better if he’d simply say “Texas will debate seceding from this godless union.” In fact, that’s what he should say.

People all over the country had those lights ready to shine win or lose. If they lost they would have lit them up in protest.

also, people can get married in church and not even need a license from the state.

That is historically true. A pledge faithfulness between a man and a woman in a church (or or otherwise before God) constituted holy matrimony. IMHO a pledge of fidelity before God today remains a more holy form of matrimony than a state issued permit to call yourselves married.

Well from what I have heard our State AG issued a “request”, an instruction that all County Clerks wait for him to issue instructions on how to implement this opinion/ruling...

From what I understand there has to be a rewriting of the marriage licenses to reflect a non-gender theme...The approve them, print and distribute them out to the 250+ counties here in this state...

Once that is accomplished, with any other issues that have to be ironed out, the process can proceed forward in an orderly manner...

Instead, the County Clerks from Dallas and Harris Counties went and started issuing licenses right away, either under pressure, or willingly...I am sure Stan Stanart from Harris County did not do so willingly, I cannot speak to the Clerk in Dallas County...

From what I recall, and understand, even the 72 hour cooling off period mandated upon the issuance of these licenses was waived...So the “couples” went right outside to a J.P. and got hitched...

And the parties and parades started this weekend...The traffic into Houston was snarled up with these impromptu gatherings, and I am sure the permitting process was overlooked as well...

So all these special conditions were waived, in the interests of paving the way for the sodomites to gather and celebrate their Federally issued government legitimacy, mind you not the states that oppose the idea and have passed state laws to oppose this activity...

So, once again state’s rights are trumped by the Feds...

What do you/we do about it???

There is probably a lot more to all of this, but this is my initial read on it...

visions of the White House looking like a Whore House.

We had that with JFK and Clinton. Today the WH looks like a San Fran bath house.

“The latest evil to be said by Obama is what he told an official in South Carolina yesterday - he plans to bring about, by law or executive order, however he can do it, a list of all members of organizations he considers to be hate groups. That report said all people should know who lives next to them in case that neighbor is on the list of a hate group. This is another evil intention by Obama to carry out.”

And then we get put in concentration camps.

I’m so glad I moved. Almost all my neighbors, except the liberal Yankee that moved here, will be members of a hate group.
