Today, after more than 50 votes in Congress to repeal or weaken this law, after a presidential election based in part on preserving or repealing this law, after multiple challenges to this law before the Supreme Court, the Affordable Care Act is here to say, President Obama said on Thursday after the Supreme Court upheld the state subsidies provision in the Affordable Care Act. In other words, time for Republicans to give up the fight against the health law.
But appearing on CBSs Face the Nation Sunday, Rep. Paul Ryan seemed unfazed.
Ryan said the current law is not fixable, and, citing the rationing of Medicare, denial of choice, double-digit annual increases in premiums, and the consolidation of insurance companies, he argued that the country wont stand for it.
This laws going to collapse under its own weight, he said. I am as motivated as ever before to repeal and replace this law, and thats what were working on.
Ryan told host John Dickerson that, despite media reports to the contrary, the GOP has plenty of ideas for legitimate replacements to the law, something that he plans to move forward on in 2017 if a Republican is elected president.
There are a number of alternative ObamaCare bills out there right now, in Congress. So I just disagree with that notion, said Paul, who was the GOP vice presidential nominee in 2012.
In 2016, we need to show the country what exactly we would replace this law with, so that when we win the election in 2016, we will have the ability to do it in 2017, he continued, encouraging GOP presidential candidates to talk at length about what they want to do to replace ObamaCare with a system that works better.
As of early June, support for the law stood at a mere 39 percent, which ties an all-time low, last hit in April of 2012.
Just shut up already! It is fully funded. Repubs are just using this as an election issue. If congress wanted this gone, it would be gone!
They sued and lost twice in SCOTUS because they didn’t defund it, scared to be blamed about something.
Now with 20 to 40% premium hikes coming in an election year I don’t see this law becoming more popular.
Half the people on Obamacare lost the health insurance because of the provisions of Obamacare. And the individual mandates will set up a chain reaction of Company based plans going away forcing people to pay for their own care.
If the GOP ever wants to get it right they better put it in writing. I don’t have any idea why its taking so long for one leadership backed plan to be put forward as an alternative, and the steps to back out over time getting our people off Obamacare.
What difference does it make who is President? If the law is bad pass a bill to end it and make the President either sign or veto it.
Well, then...
Mr. niteowl77
Just like socialist government in general does.
i.e Congress will do nothing to try and stop it.
He regrets to mention (on purpose, no doubt) that Roberts’ writ has made it virtually impossible to repeal the subsidies. Even a Presidential executive order will not repeal it now. So he’s flapping his lips, knowing that it will never be repealed.
Shame on you

I believe a true spiritual awakening might stop an otherwise inevitable collapse; or, more likely, the collapse might lead to a spiritual awakening.
Of course, the Bible also teaches us that despite judgement--obvious judgement--some men will blame God and not themselves:
The body of Christ, the church invisible--made up of Christians from ALL bodies (Roman Catholic, Protestant, Orthodoz) must be about the business of showing love to their neighbors and speaking the truth. Doing the first without the second will lead to lawlessness; doing the second without the first will lead to legalism and hypocrisy!
Repent, pray, and reach out. That is the only option, truly, for the Church and for America.
There were some important events in between, like voting to fund Obamacare.
Ryan is dead to me.
L
I never once praised Ryan. I voted for them because I didn’t think they would set about deliberately destroying the U.S.
Congress keeps dishing out money for it and the courts find ways to keep it alive.
Whatever Ryan is smoking, I want some!
BS, Ryan sold out
Not me baby, Mr policy wonk with his BS budget proposals.
Most of you if not all of you couldn’t praise Congressman Ryan enough when he was Mitt Romney’s running mate and now you are smearing him
Shame on you
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
At the time, he had principle. That seems to have eluded him now.
I don’t feel shame at all.
If the Republicans refuse to kill it it will, indeed, collapse under its own weight, right along with the whole crumbling edifice of the Republic.
He was a turkey then, he is a turkey now.
nobamacare collapse in June of 2016 would be ideal. Gives the RATS time to scurry around and find a fix right in the middle of an election race. Would give the pubbies plenty of time to tout their fixes before the election in November.
The final argument of the R’s who pretty much like Obamacare. Don’t worry. It will collapse without us having to take a vote that would make us uncomfortable.
Not me. Especially when he was Mitt’s running mate. Didn’t stop me from doing the nose-hold in 2012 though.
Got aught else to get off thy chest?
