In a Suffolk University/USA TODAY survey released on Tuesday, Americans said they do not want gun control to be a significant subject in the 2016 elections, by a margin of 52 to 43.
The survey was conducted from June 25 to June 29, just over a week after the heinous attack in Charleston by alleged gunman Dylann Roof.
According to Suffolk University, in addition to not wanting to hear about gun control in 2016, a majority of Americans do not believe increasing gun control via expanded background checks will curb mass violence. Fifty-six percent of respondents said it would not, while only 40 percent of respondents said it would.

Private ownership of firearms will always be an issue.
I was concerned for about 2 years.
Then I bought a pistol-grip stock for my Remington 870 express magnum.
Concerns have been addressed and closed out.
“Congress can be relied on to do is to stab us in the back”. Yup, that’s why we helped the repubs take control in ‘14. Or something. Maybe we’d rather be stabbed by someone we know than someone we don’t. Either way, they’ve done a fine job of sticking to us in thanks for getting them (s)elected.
I don’t like surveys about gun control.
A couple more nut job killing sprees and this media will have the American public ready to confiscate according to their “surveys”.
Well, I’m happy to say that Constitutional Carry is going to happen in Maine, despite the Nanny Bloomers and their ilk’s attempt to stop it.
The bill passed the democrat controlled Maine House and the Republican controlled Maine Senate about a month ago.
Our conservative governor, Paul LePage, said he will sign the bill, which landed on his desk after changes were made to add members of the military who are under the age of 21.
The original bill was for Maine residents 21 and older.
I hope they try. The one issue that causes Democrats to tank miserably here in Pennsylvania is gun control.
Sad to say, the ballot initiative will be on the ballot and won’t affect CCW but will affect nearly any gun transfer within the state. Word from our legislators is that if it passes, it will be the law as written. And the legislature only meets every other year here in NV and just adjourned so they won’t be able to take any action until 2017. Effective date if passed will be 1/1/2017. And it won’t do anything to stop “gun violence” or “domestic abuse”. But it sounds good.
“Not interested” can have more than one meaning. Many are not interested in preserving the second amendment.
doesn’t matter how many people are ‘for it or against it’ this administration, with the help of the supreme court- WILL ignore the constitution, and WILL ignore the will of the people, and do whatever they want
