The Navy and Marine Corps have joined the Army and Air Force in making it harder to discharge transgender military members.
Navy Secretary Ray Mabus signed a memorandum last Wednesday stating, "Effective immediately, separations initiated under the provisions of the reference for service members with a diagnosis or history of gender dysphoria, who identify themselves as transgender, or who have taken steps to externalize the condition, must be forwarded to the assistant secretary of the Navy (manpower and reserve affairs) for decision."
The memo was directed to the chief of naval operations and commandant of the Marine Corps.
Previously, discharge could be initiated by unit commanders.

Even if you believed it possible for a woman to be born in a man’s body, or vice versa, this condition would cause tremendous stress, and resultant mental instability. The result would be an unstable person I would not want to serve with.
I spent 4 years in the Navy. I would not enlist in today’s US military, no way. Nor would I encourage anyone I know to do so.

Couldn’t agree more. I’m so old there weren’t women on combatant vessels when I served. That was back when the world made some kind of sense.
I am glad my father has passed so he cannot see this.

But I do have questions. Some Army MOS are still all male. Soooo...would a female who had an addadictome now be eligible for those MOS.
Another - Does Cher’s daughter who had the operation now have to register with selective service?
Obvious question - which latrine?
On a ship - sleep with males or females?
The list is endless.
I would love to ask our esteemed POTUS whether or not he would want his own offspring in a foxhole with the likes of Bruce Jenner or Cher’s kid - you know, in an extraordinarily stressful situation, rifle in hand. Would he still think they were mentally stabile?
...and our enemies laugh heartily as the weakening of American military power continues unabated.

For a society that somehow thinks of itself as educated and scientific, we sure have found a way to pervert PERCEPTION over REALITY.
Every bit of this is the plan of the idiot-in-chief to demoralize the military. When he came into office our armed forces were typified by their pride. Now o’dummy’s making it a joke.
We have the strongest Christian-free, LGBT, pantywaist, politically correct armed forces in the world!

I've said this here before: When I was in the Marines (late 80s-early 90s) there was a guy who for whatever reason, decided he didn't want to be there anymore, so he declared that he was a homosexual. That was the fastest way to get discharged then. Dishonorably.
That guy would probably get a promotion now.
I have been saying this for a very long time.
The military services are there to provide for the defense of our nation and they do that by winning wars.
Any change to the Military doctrine that does not specifically and directly enhance our war capabilities is going to hurt the United States! More American lives will be lost and it will show, very quickly, in future military operations.
Sadly, I think this is what the Liberals want! They want to see the United States lose!
