Jeb Bush’s immigration evolution: Earned legal status but no path to citizenship
Washington Times ^ | 7/9/15 | Seth McLaughlin -

Posted on 07/09/2015 4:59:52 AM PDT by jimbo123

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said Wednesday that he does not support a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants, raising additional questions about his evolution on the thorny issue, which has created headaches for both parties in Washington and the crowded presidential field.

-snip-

“What do we do with the 11 million people here? I think the answer is earned legal status,” he said.

He made the comments a day after former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, the front-runner for the Democratic nomination, accused Mr. Bush of flip-flopping on a pathway to citizenship.

“He doesn’t believe in a path to citizenship. If he did at one time, he no longer does,” Mrs. Clinton said during a rare interview with CNN.

Independent fact-checkers said Mrs. Clinton’s charge was mostly true, although she also has evolved on the issue.

Analysts said it has been hard to pin down Mr. Bush on the issue. They cannot determine whether Mr. Bush is pushing to permanently bar those who receive “earned legal status” from eventually applying for citizenship or whether it would be a step in that direction.

He KNOWs if they get legal status, they’ll get citizenship through court action. That’s guaranteed.

I wonder how he reconciled this new change with Columba?

“Earned legal status but no path to citizenship”

Damn! Now There is a plan I could get behind. IF I trusted Jeb (the man with no last name). If I trusted ANY of the Ivy League educated Northeast elite ruling class.
Nope not now. Maybe next century.

I think we can trust Jeb.

Trust him to be lying. Trust him to have realized his disastrous Perry like Gaffes on this issue and trust his desire to fool us with this new position.

I hope the rest of the field comes after him on this.

If they get "earned legal status" they get all of the benefits of citizenship without having to commit to the US. Where to start is to secure the border and not give them any benefits except a one-way ticket home, forbidden to enter the US ever. That would give them incentive to go home and do things the legal way.

The more Jeb talks, the more despicable he is. He'd be a worse president than Obama is.

From the article it certainly sounds as if Bush is trying to NOW distance himself from Amnesty - having supported it flat-out in the past.

Would he be saying ANY OF THIS now if Trump WASN’T in the race? This is the LAST ISSUE that anyone (other than maybe Cruz) wanted to talk about. They need to keep sucking up to the Illegals to get money from big business, but they don’t want their own voters to know they are doing so.

That is the Trump effect.

I’m no Jeb Bush fan by any stretch, but, since she mentioned him specifically in her CNN interview, is it be “legally” plausible, that he could demand equal time on CNN to answer her remarks about him? Probably not, but let him, and all the GOP candidates, b**ch slap Hillary every chance they get.

Can I get some insight from someone on my question; please and thank you.

Of course. Since the recent Supreme Court decision forbidding Arizona to require citizenship evidence in order to register to vote, the Jebster knows that nationwide, “legal-status” non-citizens will be permitted to register, and vote. Who needs to be a citizen anymore?

At that point, isn’t it just a skit or play?

Wow.... that was good. You really need to work up a piece, following that train of thought on Hillary also. Then, get it to your candidate of choice (hopefully Ted Cruz), whomever that might be so they can use it. That would make a powerful Political Ad for YouTube and TV. It needs to put on Facebook, and e-mailed nationwide. For example:

You can trust Hillary Clinton. You can trust her to lie to your face, hug you publicly and then demean and demoralize you behind your back. You can trust Hillary Clinton to move Bill into the White House and work with him as a team continue raping America with their corruption. You can trust Hillary Clinton to finish Obama’s goal of totally destroying our great nation....... You get the drift of it. You can take it from there if you want, and then e-mail it to every GOP Candidate and every Conservative Radio/TV host you can. Or send me a FReep Mail and I’ll e-mail it and Tweet it on Twitter.

Good stuff, man; good stuff.

Jeb is the first of many to begin to flop on immigration before the first debate.

He and the other clowns know Cruz and Trump will corner them on this.

So, they have two choices.

1. Start Flip-Flopping before the debates or

2. LIE about their positions during the debates.

I do like Cruz the best.

You're right, this would work on Hillary very well. If she's the nominee we'll put it together. I'm not entirely convinced she is going to be, she's a horrendous candidate and the rats know it. If they can find someone else with a pulse, she'll be gone, I'm going enjoy watching them squirm as this process unfolds.

Let's hold our powder. Deal?

A mock interview, really. She doesn’t speak to anyone if it’s not set up and rehearsed because she’s basically crazy and you never know what’s going to pop out of her mouth, or if she’ll just break into mad hysteria as she’s done in the past. Her people are more careful now.

Without attempting to dig into the deliberately vague particulars of whatever Bush or Clinton might say they think this week, but just taking the headline at face value, I have to say that “earned legal status” with no citizenship is un-American. It is the creation of a permanent underclass in this country. Or should I say, the formalization of the underclass the Democrats and the Republicans have already created.

Deport the invaders, and lock the door behind them.

Just HOW does an illegal alien earn ‘legal status’? Much like becoming an official gang member or learning English,
assimulation into American society and becoming a ‘true’ American. Which is ‘your’ path Jebbie?
