FBI admits screening system failed to flag Dylann Roof

FBI Director James Comey said Friday that his agency’s background check system failed and alleged South Carolina church shooter Dylann Roof should not have been allowed to buy a gun.

“This case rips all of our hearts out, but the thought that an error on our part is connected to a gun this person used to slaughter these people is very painful to us,” Comey told reporters at FBI headquarters, according to the Washington Post.

The FBI Director said that issues with the federal government’s screening system, which did not appropriately flag Roof’s name based on a previous felony charge for narcotics possession, allowed Roof to buy the gun that he allegedly used to shoot and kill nine African-Americans at an historic church in Charleston, S.C.

Information about Roof’s prior arrest had not been fully processed through the federal computer systems, Comey told reporters.

A website that surfaced after the shooting showed Roof pictured with the gun, as well as a Confederate battle flag. A manifesto on the site revealed that the alleged crime was inspired by racial animus and later reporting has revealed that Roof was in contact with white supremacists online.

On Friday morning, just before Comey’s revelation, the Confederate battle flag was taken down from outside the South Carolina state capitol building in Columbia, a move many state legislators said honored the victims of the killings less than one month ago.

There they go again. Not enforcing existing law and saying they need more laws.

What’s next?

Needing an FBI background check to buy a Confederate Flag?

Maybe if Dylan had just joined ANY tea party group the IRS would have sent a memo to the FBI....

Charged or convicted?

Probably doesn’t even make a difference.

The FBI did not miss Root, he was on there payroll as a company clown. He did exactly what the FBI wanted to the letter. It’s called a FALSE FLAG!

The next step will be to link up a person’s identity against all his social media accounts. If he has any confederate flags posted, or otherwise indicates non-left-of-center politics, he can get flagged in the FBI database.

He would have obtain the weapons even if denied. He was on a mission and if he was willing to break the law by killing, a simple theft would not have stopped his mission.

What would have possibly been more effective is to end gun free zones. These have become killing fields.

Maybe they can borrow Governess Haley’s 9 pens to write the next gun control regulation. Anybody believe Boner and the other clowns will oppose it? Didn’t the newly minted millionaire victims’ families already jet off to DC to insist on new background checks? We owe it to them to enact sweeping changes in public policy before the emotion dies down (see: Rahm Emanuel).

It’s the flag. It’s the gun. It’s this website or that one.
Dylan Roof was a mentally defective, chickensh!t, little predator who needed his behind whipped long before he had a chance to harm anyone. That he happened to possess or utilize any of these articles is incidental.

However, I find it glaring that not one person has zeroed in that he expressly stated how the Trayvon Martin fiasco influenced & catalyzed his decision. That didn’t come from a “hate site”. It came from the BGI, the left, & the MSM.

Huh? I read his father bought the gun for him.

Strange.

His father gave him money for his birthday and he used it to buy the gun, and the gun store owner conducted the FBI background check.

Flag Dylann Roof?

Odd choice of words, since they certainly screened the rebel flag.

Felony charges will disqualify you until the charges are dismissed, or you are acquitted or convicted.

Not enough room in the database for drug felons once they’ve finished entering “people who post on Free Republic” I reckon.

The FBI is a total waste of money. The only people they protect are liberal elite office holder's delusions... they 'protect' them from imaginary paranoid fantasies about the 'vast right wing conspiracy'... In short the 'enemy' they know is traditional Americans with children and families.

The don't protect us from ISIS... they don't protect us from illegals. They don't protect us from gang bangers.

The FBI protects liberal elites from hearing everyday citizens gripe about how the country is run. Little thin skinned bullies.

In the old days the FBI went after criminals. Now they go after the politically incorrect... and they protect illegals and other criminals. Yeah, sit on the internet and see if a marginally incompetent young person can get riled up. That crap might 'protect' jobs - FBI jobs. But it damn sure doesn't protect citizens. That 'lone wolf' thing was a Hillary commie paranoid delusion to protect her husbands lies about taking advantage of women. Think "Bill Cosby' lite.

The FBI should become a part of the EPA or IRS... one more group of thugs targeting conservative American citizens. Thugs we will take to court someday...

A person who is currently under indictment for a felony or has been convicted of one is supposed to fail the NICS check.

This is an opportune time for a Republican leader to go up to a podium and tell the American people the truth:

Team Obama Valerie cannot do simple BACKGROUND CHECKS--why should it be trusted with HEALTHCARE?!

If Obama Valerie's FBI is unable to do a simple background check on a person for a GUN, why are they taking over so much of the economy?

Obama Valerie and his her team cannot even keep the DATA on government servers secure--what makes anyone think they can protect our borders?

A beautiful opportunity to point out the kakistocracy at the executive branch.

Any of the candidates and/or Congressional leaders willing to point out the truth?!
