Confederate flag supporters rise up to defend embattled symbol

An eight-mile convoy of pickups, motorcycles and cars wound through a central Florida town on Sunday in a show of support for the Confederate flag, as a backlash against its banishment from public landmarks across the South picks up steam.

Horns blared and hundreds of the rebel flags fluttered as more than 1,500 vehicles and some 4,500 people turned out for the "Florida Southern Pride Ride" in Ocala, according to police estimates. Vehicles from states across the South and as far away as California participated.

"That flag has a lot of different meanings to a lot of different people," said David Stone, 38, who organized the event. "It doesn't symbolize hate unless you think it's hate - and that's your problem, not mine.”

Still confederate bashing like the rest of your liberal friends huh?

You still haven’t read the Confederate Constitution I see.

See Article 1 Section 9 Clause 4 of it...pro-slavery isn’t Conservative.

Big southern backlash this weekend, with many protests and demonstrations in support of the battle flag. Folks have finally had enough, thank God!

War of Northern Aggression? The South opened fire on Ft. Sumter and invaded the North twice once the war started. Yeah, the South will rise will rise again. And get it’s ass kicked again.

Just now I was watching a John Wayne movie on YouTube...Operation Pacific http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tpyYNlwwW4Q

And at 1:32:00 or thereabouts I had to pause, at that point a submariner is going through a dead crewman’s personal effects, discovers and displays the dead man’s Confederate flag, John Wayne mentions that the dead man’s “great grandpappy was aboard the Merrimac.”

You might want to watch it one more time...it’s only a matter of time before an internet social activist flags it.

I thought the southern flag was the white flag of surrender Lee had at Appomattox in 1865

Well the Libs found another dead sold nail in the coffin of that racist, death dealing Confederate Flag from a long lost last photo of the Titanic that proves exactly why the liner was struck and sunk by an liberal, tolerant iceberg:

Yeah... as I keep saying--

You cannot... make this stuff up!

RginTn,

Also see the u.s. constitution.

Primary causes of the War Between the States were:

1) excessive taxation by the North on the South.
2) unequal representation imposed by the North on the South.

If slavery was the primary cause, then why did the emancipation proclamation come far —later— than the start of the war?

If slavery was the primary cause then the timeline would’ve been :

Northern states via the Congress say: “
OK, slaves are freed, no more slavery, and this applies to —all— the states”

Southern states say to Congress:
“No way; we’re keeping our slaves; we’re seceding over this issue “

Trouble is, it didn’t happen that way.

1) yep that was cause for grievance

2) and the Southern states agreed to that to join the Union

Note that those who support the Confederate Flag mentioned repeatedly that it was about Heritage. This made me look at the Confederate Constitution. Its that Constitution which legalizes slavery.

So I will concede that yes excessive taxation was a reason for the Civil War and also Slavery as the Confederate Constitution legalized it.

Too bad about that pro-slavery clause. If it had not been in the CC, it would be conclusive proof that the Confederate flag doesn't stand for slavery.

My post:

“2) unequal representation imposed by the North on the South.”

Your post:

2) and the Southern states agreed to that to join the Union

Comment on your 2)

The southern states left —because— of the unequal representation put upon them.
This means they were in the union at a time where there —wasn’t— unequal representation.

—Something— made them leave, and it was the same thing that prompted the colonies to rebel against king George.... excessive taxation and no representation.

Both the North and the South had slaves; if war had been over —that— issue, then some of the states would have freed their slaves and some wouldn’t, and then the lines of demarcation would have been along —those— lines...
but they weren’t.
The slaves weren’t freed till —after— the war started.

Here’s a post about the timing:

There wasn't really unequal representation since every white Southern male vote was counted as 1 vote.
Slaves were property and property can't vote but the Southern states wanted to make their property vote and have more power from that. Sounds very opportunistic to me.

In Marion County Florida it’s a part of a historical display. The residents of the state of Florida have lived under five flags … five sovereign banners … Spain, France, Great Britain, the Confederacy, and the United States. These are known as the “5 Flags of Florida” and have flown without incident for many years.

I wish you were right but I’m not optimistic

I own the largest high def electronic sign in a suburban county of nashville

I’ve informed my programmer to input in big blocks

“PRAY FOR DIXIE....WHO WILL DEFEND HER”

But really....

Nashville is eat up with northern UAW types and Kali and northeast refugees who are apathetic at best

And blacks as a tight block control the city council

White millenials are brainwashed

Some young Copenhagen lads in pickups out in the rural counties listening to Luke Bryan and old white guys like me are not enough

And our politicians ditto....feckless bastards

I listened to Bauer and Rose tonight driving across Oklahoma and Bauer really nailed it all

Rose doesn’t get it but he is sympathetic

Dark days....our legacy and birthright is only the appetizer

See Article 1 Section 9 Clause 4 of it...pro-slavery isn’t Conservative.

Not only are you a southern heritage bashing liberal, you are an outright liar. Show me in my posting history that :

(1)I am pro -slavery

(2)Am a neo-confederate, as you called me on an earlier thread. Neo-confederates are of the position for reforming the confederacy. Where in my posting history have I stated that?.

I am a genealogist, and family historian, who is proud of my ancestors who fought with valor. You on the other hand are a liar, just like the rest of the other liberals attacking our heritage.
