WASHINGTON (AP) — Pentagon leaders are finalizing plans aimed at lifting the ban on transgender individuals in the military, with the goal of formally ending one of the last gender- or sexuality-based barriers to military service, senior U.S. officials told The Associated Press.
An announcement is expected this week, and the services would have six months to assess the impact of the change and work out the details, the officials said Monday. Military chiefs wanted time to methodically work through the legal, medical and administrative issues and develop training to ease any transition, and senior leaders believed six months would be sufficient.
During that time, transgender individuals would still not be able to join the military, but any decisions to force out those already serving would be referred to the Pentagon's acting undersecretary for personnel, the officials said. One senior official said the goal was to avoid forcing any transgender service members to leave during that time.
Several officials familiar with the planning spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk about the issue publicly before the final details have been worked out.

And I seem to recall that the whole jilted-gay-lover story was greeting with some skepticism. Perhaps it was a slightly better PR story for the USN than problems with really old ammo on a really old ship.
So not homosexuals think they’re married, and now men or women can think they’re the opposite sex regardless of how they were born!!! Congress, that spineless group and the next republican President had better overturn all of what this divider, fairy in chief has done , especially as Obama did that to Bush in his first few weeks.
There is enough evidence out there to state why they should overturn all fo this seeing as men are now being raped more, cross dressers think they should wear different uniforms than what the gender requirements tell them too . We have seen so much mental illness from Manning to homosexuals acting out in baby tantrum ways to these liberals who leave their post and join the enemy etc.
If they Re-do MASH Clinger would have to kill a bunch of people like Nidal Hassan to “maybe” get a Section 8.....
Because dressing up in the frilly dress wouldn’t do it...
Because having mental cases handling dangerous weapons and authority has never been a problem before.
I don’t think training of any kind is required for what they have in mind.
The Democrats should find an attractive Transgender Female to run against Hillary! An attractive Transgender Female would definitely make a big difference especially with photo ops and she/he could lead the party in the fight for progress and equality!
Imagine when Basic Training is replaced with sensitivity training. Where’s that montypython skit of military fairies when you need it?

There’s very little in that song that’s accurate anymore.
From what I can gather, there was never a definitive conclusion.
Obama's fattening us for the kill in every way he can think of. I fully expect all hell to break loose as soon as he's out of office and safely settled into his new Hawaii home. I fully believe that all our enemies are on board with his timeline, and are happily prepping for that glorious day that the Great Satan is brought to its knees.
The one thing that would make his plan fail would be his failure to disarm the populace. If he can pull that off, then he's going to go down in history as the great Muslim leader who conned his way into the presidency and set us up for the kill.
Bradley/Chelsea Manning was no fluke. That is the psychiatric frame of mind you get with transgenders - highly susceptible to focusing anger and resentment on the organization, i.e., committing treason. Who needs that?

Transgenderism is still considered a disorder. So we are enlisting disordered individuals to be service members now?
Does this mean you will see transgender commanders leading soldiers into battle?

What does that mean? Assume that all military personnel had a physical in which their true gender was identified. Will they be transferred to a unit corresponding to their chosen gender? I’m still amazed we’re even talking about this.
