Rick Perry: Trump Is Unfit to Lead the Military, ‘Should Immediately Withdraw’ from Race
Mediaite ^ | 07/18/2015 | Joshua Riddle

Lots of Donald Trump‘s Republican presidential candidates have already shredded him for his comments about John McCain, but Rick Perry came out swinging by calling for Trump to basically GTFO.

In case you missed it, the draft-defering Trump attacked McCain today over his war hero status because, “He’s a war hero ’cause he was captured. I like people that weren’t captured.”

Now, for some unbelievable reason, lots of conservatives including the aforementioned candidates thought Trump crossed a line.

Perry was the first to release a statement on The Donald’s latest rambling, this one really going for the jugular (emphasis his):

Donald Trump should apologize immediately for attacking Senator McCain and all veterans who have protected and served our country. As a veteran and an American, I respect Sen. McCain because he volunteered to serve his country. I cannot say the same of Mr. Trump. His comments have reached a new low in American politics. His attack on veterans make him unfit to be Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces, and he should immediately withdraw from the race for President.

For the record, when Trump was asked if he plans to apologize, he said no.

It isn’t Perry, it is the Liberal Media that will ride this Horse until it collapses. Donald needs to clarify the POW comment like he clarified the McCain comment on Facebook.

Agree. LaRaza Rick’s panties are bunched because of Trump’s suggestion that Perry be given an IQ test, to qualify for participating in the debates.

As other poster’s have noted....LaRaza Ricky should “immediately withdraw from race” due to his lack of action on closing/securing the border. He’s FIRED!

Go ahead, join a 3rd party then. There are 50+ of them, have fun with that. See where it gets you. We have this debate every election cycle and there are people like you who swoon over self promoting frauds like Trump. Last election it was Herman Cain. Next election it will be someone else.

Trump is not stopping Bush, he is drowning out all the other candidates that can compete with Bush.

Yeah, I am a person who understands our system is built for 2 parties. On the rare occasion one party implodes (the Whigs), another just sets up shop to become the 2nd leg of the 2 party system.

You will virtually ALWAYS be voting for the lesser of 2 evils in a general election in our winner take all system that prevents coalition building. You have your chance to make an actual difference in the primaries, and a vote for Donald Trump simply takes one away from Cruz, Walker or some of the other more conservative (ie, NOT Bush) candidates.

Don’t get me wrong. Trump has some qualities I like. I do appreciate someone that doesn’t cower to the PC police every time he says something that offends the leftist establishment. The problem is Trump is NOT a conservative. He’s a self promoting realityTV star who is a political fraud. How could you ever count on someone with no ideological conservative underpinnings to make decent Supreme Court nominations? How could you trust someone like Trump not to say something utterly idiotic during a general election and hand the keys to the White House to Hillary without a fight. In Washington there is HUGE pressure to go along, get along. How do you know Trump won’t hear some leftist argument for healthcare (for the 1st time) and go back to supporting Canadian style socialized medicine (which he did, or perhaps still does, support).

Trump is NOT going to be the nominee. And if he runs 3rd party he will only siphon off a few % of the vote and guarantee the Democrats control the White House just like Perot did.

We have good candidates. Most have some warts, of course, but Cruz, Walker, Rubio, and some others are mostly solid. No, they aren’t going to throw read meat out at every speech because they are skilled enough to understand that you can’t win a general election that way.

Trump has been all over the map politically. He is not grounded in conservative thought. He is a gaffe machine as we’ve just seen with his appalling comments about McCain. If he doesn’t know better than to say something utterly stupid like that now, how in the heck could you trust he wouldn’t blow up his campaign even worse in a general election?

All the good little GOPe candidates will protect McLame he is one of "theirs"...

It was a dumb thing to say but that doesn't make it untrue...

McLame was a POW and was so in one of the worst places to be one. The guys who endured it are to be commended for not buckling and forsaking their oath.

Can McLame be numbered among such men? There are a lot of questions about this very issue and there are many stories that claim John McLame was not the Hero he is made out to be during his campaign for President. I know I've seen enough from him over this last decade to know that whatever he did in the past he is now the worst form of human being, a Washington D.C. Politiclown...

Could be, but Trump doesn’t pussy out like Romney did.

I always call Obama the Flubber President, unlike Teflon, things bounce off him and accelerate in the opposite direction.

Trump may just pickup that attribute of he survives this Gaffe.

Kerry had three purple hearts. Mainly for a thumb sucking injury. If they ever open up his records they will see R’s & D’s covered his A$$ until he was elected into the Senate. He is a POS. Mcain deserves credit but what he has done after has been disastrous and using his military hero/POW status to enforce same.

What kind of a wimp would distance himself from Trump based on this rather tame comment about McCain?

Why can't Trump have this opinion and people who don't like it can just lump it?

What kind of candy-ass country are we becoming if someone can't speak his mind without being shouted down?

McCain started this fight with Trump, he deserves to get fired back upon by Trump.

It's politics.

I am corrected. Thank you. I has been a few years ago. Either way, he was not an impressive candidate then.

Not just Obama, McCain called Trumps supporters "Crazy" without any consideration
for all the Veterans in the audience. En Masse. But nobody in the RINO camp is
talking about that.

I'm dead sick of both good-ole-boy encampments, lets get a Conservative in there to
clean this country up and set them all back 50 years.
