Donald Trump’s Follow Up to Previous Statement About Sen. John McCain
Young Conservatives ^ | 07/18/2015 | John S. Roberts

Posted on 07/18/2015 5:35:31 PM PDT by E. Pluribus Unum

Earlier, 2016 presidential contender Donald Trump made a very ignorant statement about senator and Vietnam POW John McCain that may have greatly hurt his chances at the White House.

Trump said he favors “people that weren’t captured” in war.

Here’s the Donald’s follow up…

d

There’s no doubt that McCain is a Republican in name only, but I feel Trump lost a good portion of potential voters by disparaging a member of our armed forces.

Donald can say he is “fighting for our Veterans,” and I’m sure he supports them now and would as president also, but this may be hard to walk back.

Thoughts?

I disagree with Trump on several issues.

However, he is undermining the stage management of the election by the RNC and DNC. The fundamental corruption of our entire ruling class is being exposed, and I love watching it.

I hope he stays in the race for a long time.

The conservative base knows exactly who and what McQueeg is.

Milt Romley would have won if just 8% more of the conservative base had shown up.

I daresay a Donald Trump as the candidate would turn out the conservative base in historic proportions.

Trump is still at the top of the list in my book. One can not talk "off the cuff" as much as Trump is doing without making someone disturbed. What he said was true about McCain. He should have added the RINO designation to the comment. What about McCain calling the Tea Party, Hobbits?
Sometimes the truth hurts. There had to be something the Liberal Media could jump on.

The important thing is that Donald is gutting the RINOs.

It's going to be very difficult for them to hand-pick the GOP candidate this time around.

Thank you Mr. Trump!

“by disparaging a member of our armed forces”

McCain hasn’t been a member of our armed forces for quite a long time, although he has mined his service to good effect, and being a former member does not place one above criticism and does not grant one the luxury of trashing people, i.e. “crazies” without consequences. It is truly amazing how Trumps words are being twisted and made to encompass millions of people, living and dead.

Trump lost about fifteen votes he never had in the first place: The McCain and Graham families.

I'm going for a run. Let it play out, but one thing is certain, Trump is playing offense, something the gutless RHINO establishment—Bonehead Orange Man Boehner, Trurtle face Mitch Mcdumbo and all the rest of their ilk never do. Get a spine Rhinos, something Trump might force you to do.

McCain is not a member of our armed forces. He was decades ago. I've been in the Army since I was 18 years old. I know for a fact that I will not be able to do whatever I want to whomever I want and fall back on "war hero" status b/c I saw some combat and went to some not-nice places.

We're defined by what we're doing now, not what we did 20, 30, or 40 years ago. McCain's service is practically a trivia question at this point.

John McCain has milked his military credentials for decades now, but it’s strange that so few of the men who served with him have much good to say about him. From what I heard, he was not a very good pilot and frankly, if his father and grandfathers hadn’t been admirals, he’d have been washed out early in his career. Not many men crash three birds and keep their wings.

I think Trump went over the line on this one because he has no military experience, may even be considered a draft dodger, depending on how you define it, was rude, crude and disrespectful, and has given his detractors a perfect issue to beat him over the head with.

Back on McCain. He was a dickhead as a junior officer, he flew a mission, he got shot down and captured. None of that fits the category of “hero”.

Trumps defense is a good one. The only thing missing is proof of what he says regarding McCain not being there for fellow vets. It’s all pretty ugly, but facts aren’t always pretty. Just back it up is all.
.......................................................
Suggest you regard the hearing about the MIA where McCain walked out of the hearing after totally insulting the woman(forgot her name) who has worked for years on the Vietnam MIA issues. The proof is there.

i know a lot of veterans who hate mccain for the exact reason Trump implies- he’s all talk but has done nothing for veterans...

Trump is right in most of what he says in the email but imo he should still man up and call mccain to apologize for the comment or its going to dog him for the next year (not that i ever thought he would get the nomination)...

I took the original statement to be indicative of Trumps' "winner" attitude..

simply meaning that some did not suffer the circumstances of capture and went on to win the war (Washington of course promptly handed it over to NV.)

The personal reference to McCain in my view was the acknowledgement that McCain for decades has accepted the designation "hero" for holding up under NV captivity.

If there is any attempt to harm Mr. Trump or his family and relations I hope he sues the hell out of scores of people using the doctrine of vicarious liability.

At least one successful civil lawsuit against a white supremacist (Tom Metzger) proved that the attacker does not have to be an employee or even a member of the group.. just prove that the attacker acted in response to the message and the status of the messenger.

.. some like the Bush family have great status in Mexico and the Mexican drug cartels are full of crazies.

Re McCain not being there for fellow vets,... AP today: "The VA has pushed for the removal of six senior executives, including four who were fired and two who retired, said spokeswoman Victoria Dillon. One of those fired was Sharon Helman, the former director of the Phoenix VA health care system, the epicenter of the wait-time scandal." ... Those AZ vets didn't contact McCain's office with their problem getting medical treatment? They died waiting in vain for help, and McCain either didn't know or didn't care.

Thoughts?

I am glad Trump did not kowtow to one of the most despicable people ever to grace the US Senate.

John McCain has been a blot on the Congress for over 25 years, since the Keating Five scandal.

McCain survived as a POW—funny how his fellow POWs nicknamed him “ The Songbird”. McCain appeared on two French TV broadcasts while a prisoner, as well as making other videos for the NVA.

His actions on the POW/MIA Select Subcommittee in 1992 basically were for the purpose of shutting down the families and any exposure of the people we left behind from Korea onward.

He was joined in that effort by John Kerry—imagine that!

When his torturer, Colonel Trang came to DC in 1992 to testify, John McCain ran up to him and hugged him. Imagine hugging a man who beat you, and beat and killed your friends.

What war hero would do that?

He has worn that war hero badge on his sleeve since he returned from NV.

Had he not been shot down, his propensity for hot dogging and disobeying orders would have gotten him cashiered at some point out of the Navy.

He is a hero because he was shot down.

But his actions since 1989 show him to be unstable, untrustworthy, and un-American. Calling his own constituents who attended the Trump rally last weekend “crazies” shows what a lying sack of crap he is.

Next year he will be coming back to AZ and making conservative noises as he does every 6 years, in the hopes he can fool the crazies one more time to get re-elected.

I hope the crazies retire him for good.

I am glad Trump put him in his place.

McCain started it—let’s see who finishes it.

My bet is that it is not the war hero.

Mccain brought this upon his self. When reports came out about the number of veterans who died while waiting to get VA benefits...where was Mccain? No senate hearings on this. Nothing.

Feel free to troll elsewhere.

There are few more crooked amoral monsters than John Giglio McCain.
Ask his first wife who had cancer and he who he left for the rich young one.

Really is this all the Jeb trolls have !
