Each time I go to FB it freezes my computer while the disk runs madly. How frozen, chickensoup? Frozen enough that it stopped a cd I was listening to dead in its tracks, only to start back up when unfrozen.
If I don't clear my caches and files there is no freezing.
Anyone else experience this?
I do from time to time. It’ll spontaneously reload and take several minutes in doing so.
What do you mean by reload?
No.
Sounds like your computer is the victim of climate change....
Are you logged in?
No I always log out and clear my cache after leaving FB Why is it spinning my disk before I can get the log in page when I next visit?
I’ve been having the same problem, but with multiple sites I frequent: Drudge, American Thinker, Frontpage, American Spectator, Daily Mail, Facebook. Fortunately, NOT Free Republic.
What is interesting that the problem came after I had to renew the multi McAfee subscription that came with my computer and had to do a complete reload of Mcafee. I’ve also noticed, since then, that when I closed down the computer, several ads shadowy click by while shutting down. I’m guessing they were blocked and thus show up when I shut down.
I also ran System Mechanic and that didn’t seem to do any good. I’ll try manual emptying of cache tonight.
What’s Facebook?
Unless you are trying to hide what you are doing on the net there is no reason to clear your cache.

Ever since I cancelled my FB account it never freezes on me, at least I don’t think it does, but I’m not really sure, since never go there anymore.
I only use FB for political postings. Pictures of silly kittens and puppies, and pictures of my garden. Consider using a tablet.
Drudge, Breitbart, Daily Mail have screwed up my computer. And, no, FR is the only place that doesn’t. Maybe that’s why I hang out here??
I run this: http://www.fbpurity.com/
Not sure if it will help your problem, but you can surely clean up FB and hide a lot of the crap they put on there that is so annoying. You can also force it to keep the setting on ‘most recent’ activity so it doesn’t switch back to ‘top stories’ or whatever the default is.
I do run Ad Block - also run NoScript ( https://noscript.net/ ) which is a little more complicated but gets high marks. Between the two, I can now go to Hot Air without it freezing my computer.
Same with my tablet
I run trend micro. and ADblock. Don’t have any problems with any other sites including the ad terrible Breitbart
When the page refreshes..
I am not trying to hide anything but I do not like the FB gremlins on my computer pulling ads in the stream that correspond to where I have been on the net. So FB uses my files to cache what I post for pics? HOw would I clear that file from FB. How does FB know to connect up to these files before I sign in?
Use Adblock. It is like I got a new life! I can load Breitbart and Drudge instantly!
I’ve also found that I’m getting “long running script” warning on more and more sites. I click ‘stop’ and then I can access the page. I guess that is from either ads or new cellphone friendly webpage formating, any idea?
