(CNN)Anger over Sandra Bland's death in a Texas jail has boiled over after newly released video showed what happened at the traffic stop that led to her arrest.

Now, many question whether she should have been arrested at all.

The dashcam video shows Texas state Trooper Brian Encinia pulling Bland over July 10 for allegedly failing to use her turn signal. What started as normal conversation gets testy after Encinia asks her to put out her cigarette.

In your mind, good government means no flexibility. The law is the law. Texans did not vote for each law,( by the way), the government did.
That means in your state, I can get arrested and thrown in jail by not signaling a lane change .That is your law.Do you feel good about that law?

I wonder what the law is in your state if your dog gets loose? Does the cop get to shoot it?

You sound very inflexible. In your minds eye, the law is the law. I believe that a good police officer evaluates each situation, and makes a judgment based on the situation.

I also believe in jury nullification. Sometimes, laws made by the government are ridiculous.

Maybe the cop smelled the MJ when he returned to the car.

Maybe you are making things up. If he smelled MJ, he would have arrested her for a DUI

Actually I do feel good about that traffic law and so do most Texans.

No, we don’t vote for each law, but we do vote for every elected official that wrote that law so the impact is still the same. We have the government that we want and it is doing what we want for us. That is good government.

I agree that some laws are stupid, but that is why we have the right to try and change any laws that we dislike. However, until the law is changed, we still have to follow it unless it violates a Constitutional right. Otherwise we have anarchy or a liberal who wants to pick and choose which laws to follow.

In this case, her rights were not violated. A traffic stop, telling her to put her cig out, telling her to get out of the car...none of that violated her Constitutional rights. She should have complied at the time and worked to change that law later or complain about it later.

So you want flexibility?? Ok, so what laws should be enforced? Who gets to choose? Do we only enforce some laws on some people?? Yes, the law is the law.

We are a nation of laws. If you don’t like the law then change it. Texans do like the law so we’re sticking with it and we expect it to be enforced equally and we expect you and everyone else to obey it. If you choose to ignore our laws like she did then be prepared to suffer the consequences and remember that you made the choice to defy the people.

You’re showing your ignorance again. There is a statutory requirement for a DUI arrest. You do realize that you can still possess MJ illegally without actually having smoked the MJ. Possession is still against the law.

The fact about her being high from the autopsy report is not in dispute so go look it up.

He may have smelled MJ or he may have noticed her stoned behavior and wanted to ask more questions to determine if she was really high or not. You’re the one that was advocating stricter DWI/DUI enforcement. His questions may be been just for that purpose.

Basically, you don’t know his motives and neither do I so I’ll hold my criticism until I do know. That is the difference between you and I.

you apparently can’t read

I read fine and I stopped right there. I just quit reading your ramblings.

I can't stand listening to bureaucratic drones or wanna be cops like you mouth off about the law and regulations. Totally robotic.

Like it or not, the folks down there will be hammered with lawsuits over this and will pay/settle big. In fact simply fighting these lawsuits will cost the Texas tax payers millions. I'll ping when the folks in Texas settle.

Well, you obviously haven’t watched closely enough.

She runs the stop sign @ 1:17, and the stop sign is clearly visible as the cop u-turns @ 1:29.

Go ahead and pause the video at 1:29 and tell me what the octagonal shape mounted on the pole under the street name signs at the corner of the side street where it meets the highway is.

My guess as to why he did not mention or charge her with running the stop sign, which she clearly did on video, is because he is not the awful, horrible, racist monster cop everyone wants him to be.

She violated her own civil rights when she killed herself.

NO ONE else is responsible for her death but her.

Good God.

Lawsuits for what?

No one did anything except her.

You feel good about that traffic law? That a person can get arrested for not signaling a lane change? The rest of the country is appalled by this, yet you feel good?
What is the law for a California stop? Execution? 5 years in jail?
If I play loud music, will I get arrested? Thrown in jail for a year or two?
You don't know how intolerant you look in this forum.
Thank goodness I live in WA state. Open carry, conceal carry, initiative ( to throw out government laws), and we have a healthy skepticism of the police and government.

That is the problem with people like you. You prefer to live in ignorance rather than educate yourself and you wonder why nobody takes you seriously. You condemn anyone that attempts to provide you facts because you’re so convinced that your immature opinions are true.

Take off the tinfoil hat and trying reading for once because you are sorely misinformed about a lot of things. You’re giving true conservatives a bad name. No wonder you’re still in kalifornia.

I am not saying anything about the suicide ( she is responsible for that), I am talking about the police encounter. Enough there for a civil rights violation.

You do realize that she was NOT arrested for a traffic law violation. She WAS arrested for assaulting the cop.

If you play loud music and tell the cop to f*ck off when he tells you to turn it down and you attempt to fight the cop then, yes, you will go to jail. So please stay in the liberal cesspool of WA where you are not even free to practice or speak about your own religion.

You don’t realize how liberal you look on this forum. You believe people should just ignore any laws they dislike. Wow...why don’t you just go and vote for Obama again. I’m sure you can just chose to ignore our term limit laws if you don’t like them.

He provoked the encounter. We have not heard from the bystander yet. I find it interesting that he took away her phone and the assault was off the camera.

When the tax paying folks down there in Texas settle all the lawsuits, I will ping you, and we shall see who is taken seriously.☺

No, you sound like a big government lover. . I am a libertarian. I can’t stand Obama. I like Trump and Rand Paul. Most of WA is not a liberal cesspool with the exception of Seattle. And last I checked, you have the liberal cesspool of Austin.
I also believe laws should be written with common sense. Arresting someone for not signaling a lane change is oppressive, dictatorial and does not make sense. If I was a juror, I would nullify that in an instant.

1. She ran a stop sign.

2. She changed lanes in front of a cop with no signal.

3. She was arrested for neither of these.

4. She was arrested and charged for assaulting a police officer.

Why is it that you can’t follow a simple sequence of events?

“You feel good about that traffic law? That a person can get arrested for not signaling a lane change?”

What does your above question even mean? It literally makes no sense at all.

Are you being purposefully ignorant?

Since it was off camera, you don’t know he assaulted her at all. You’re making more unsubstantiated assumptions. Besides, it isn’t assault when he is trying to cuff her and she fights him. She violated the law 4 times on video so she was wrong.

Yes, I am intolerant of career criminals that come to TX and think they can break our laws with impunity. Don’t break the law and you won’t go to jail. Don’t break the law and you won’t even get stopped. Sounds pretty simple to me.
