"You cannot live and support a family on $18,000 a year in the state of New York — period,"...

You're not supposed to be able to support a family while working a fast food job.

College graduates are accepting $15 to $20 an hour jobs. This will have a ripple effect.

My main question is asked in the article: why does this only apply to fast food jobs? Is that legal

Fast-food workers in New York state would see a super-sized raise under a plan to phase in a $15 minimum wage — the first time a state has singled out a particular industry for such an increase.

Bill of Attainder much?

Ah what the hell. The rest of the Constitution is shredded. Why not that part.

Hell, let's have them increase the minimum wage by actual individual. If we are gonna blow out the BoA, let's do it all RIGHT LIKE.

“”You cannot live and support a family on $18,000 a year in the state of New York — period,”

You could if you reduced the cost of living in new york through massive tax cuts, fewer government regulations, and smaller government. But thats just me.

these are kids or elderly looking for supplemental income...not folks raising a family.

Is this an attempt to shut down a food industry....per Michelle's bidding??

Fire up those factories that produce robots; lots of business coming your way in NY State.

Courtesy of Cuomo the Communist.

And as for the rest of the ‘something for nothing’ crowd, the unemployment line forms to the right...

Yes....of course, because it’s working out sooooo well in Seattle/Washington. Workers are requesting LESS hours, so they won’t make over the limit to continue to receive WELFARE benefits, businesses are charging a SURCHARGE to help pay the higher hourly rate, tips aren’t being left, due to higher prices.

Yes....double down on STUPID, NYC....you always seem to do just that.

Perhaps they should see how well it's working in Seattle:

Seattle sees fallout from $15 minimum wage, as other cities follow suit

As labor is a direct input to costs, the price of goods and services will increase proportionately.

You can make the minimum wage $100/hr if you want, but just be prepared to fork over $20 for a hamburger and $90 for a car wash. Those people making $100/hr will still be hollering that they can't make ends meet.

"You cannot live and support a family on $18,000 a year in the state of New York — period," Gov. Andrew Cuomo

"You cannot live and support a family on $31,000 a year in the state of New York — period," says everyone that lives in the state of New York

New York isn’t expensive enough so they had to add this much more to the cost of living.

“The increase would be phased in over three years in New York City and over six years elsewhere.”

That should allow plenty of time to automate most of those jobs.
