WASHINGTON -- Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) fast-tracked a bill to defund Planned Parenthood on Friday because of an undercover video of a Planned Parenthood doctor discussing the donation of fetal tissue after abortions. But McConnell was one of many Republicans who voted to lift a ban on fetal tissue donations after abortions in 1993 -- the very move that legalized Planned Parenthood's actions.
In 1988, the Reagan administration began a moratorium on fetal tissue from elective abortions being used in scientific research. But Congress lifted that ban in 1993 when it passed the National Institutes of Health Revitalization Act, which allowed research on human fetal tissue regardless of whether the tissue came from a voluntary abortion. McConnell voted for that bill, as did Reps. Lamar Smith (R-Texas) and Fred Upton (R-Mich.), all of whom have condemned Planned Parenthood in the past two weeks for its involvement in the practice. The GOPe is only as pro-life as they're forced to be.

From what I have read, McConnell is not fast tracking this legislation, Rand Paul is. And it sounds like he is going around McConnell to do it.

Never too late to do the right thing.

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., announced late Friday that he will "use every Senate rule" to force his Senate colleagues on the record after fellow Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., blocked his amendment to defund Planned Parenthood.http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/rand-paul-defies-mcconnell-to-defund-planned-parenthood/article/2568973?custom_click=rss

Um.... What?
McConnell has refused to fastback the defending of Planned Parenthood. It's Rand Paul who is fast tracking it. The puffed up blog is lying.

Defending should be defunding.

that's for sure, and their 2 leaders are wimps. Sad to say that most pro-life, evangelical/catholic congressmen (including Chris Smith of NJ), do vote for planned parenthood/Title X funding annually; it's "party" over principle, and that most pro-life republicans voters/activists are in denial of this fact. Just follow the money, follow the appropriations from the time republicans took over congress: 1995-2006.
Stop Planned Parenthood Tax Funding
One reason why democrats win is that you know where they stand, you never know with a republican, especially, a so-called evangelical/catholic pro-life republican. Remember former speaker J. Denny Hastert was born again. Did you see him ever not include title X funding in any of his Labor&Health Omnibus bills?

They’re not even that; they’re closeted pro-aborts.

We need to constantly call our reps and tell them where we stand, and when they vote correctly, thank them. But when they vote wrong, let them know we are disappointed (to say the least).

Thirty years ago or so, Chris Smith was the most pure, faithful, rock-ribbed pro-lifer on the face of the earth.
If Mother Teresa spent twenty years in the U.S. Congress, she would turn into Nancy Pelosi.
