If Trump goes third party, then the Republicans will certainly lose the White House in 2016.

The GOPe seems intent on fueling the rise of a new second party at their own expense. If Trump goes 3rd party, assuming he doesn’t self immolate along the way, the GOPe candidate finishes in third place. Who wins? Right now, I’d say the ‘Rats but things are awfully turbulent with the present level of popular discontent.

If Hitlery Clinton and Juan Ellis Bush are the nominees, then we have no choice at all.

It would be like being a passenger on the Titanic after it hit the iceberg....

“I’ll climb onto the railing on the port side of the ship and jump into the freezing water.”

“No, I’ll climb onto the railing on the starboard side of the ship and jump into the freezing water.”

The end result is the same. We’re finished in either scenario.

When the bloated GOP field gets thinned, one or two of the conventional candidates will catch on. Trump’s appeal is already at its best level.

Trump is to Conservatives what 'Brobama' was to liberals. Just like 'Brobama' he is throwing red meat out and many conservatives are gobbling it up, but I assure you 5 minutes after he stepped into Oval Office all those promises would disappear as fast as they did with 'Brobama'.

I can't wait for the Youtube video which will be like the the one of the liberal black lady gushing over 'Brobama' and talking about him paying her rent and food and gas, but it will be some middle aged Tea Partier giddy over Trump saying:

"No more illegals and those here shipped back, and a secure wall will now be built and Mexico has to pay for it all!"

Good points. So do you think will The Donald step down or burn out?

Trump wouldn’t even be able to get on the ballot in most states.

We lose anyway if Jeb is the nominee. Hillary and Jeb are one in the same in my opinion. Heck, we won majorities but we are still losing cause of politicians like Jeb-RINOS.

I hope you are right. But remember that LIVs get most of their information from the same enemedia which painted Romney as the GOP solution up until the moment he secured the nomination, then turned on him with a vengeance from May until Election Day.

But Trump can get around the media, like Reagan could.

Reagan won because he got a lot of people to vote for him who didn’t necessarily agree with him on a lot of issues, but they liked what they saw in the man.

I agree that Trump has peaked. #1 is hard to rise above. Will it last? Time will tell. Six months from now we will have poll results that count. They are called votes. Until then, enjoy watching Trump beat up on the enemies of freedom.

Trump could run as a Democrat, he would be the only one. All the rest have moved on to the Bolshecratic Party.

I always love how the GOP rank and file are to fall in behind the latest "moderate" but when a renegade comes along with a chance of winning, oh nooooo! We can't back him. We'll be the ones to split off.

There is a very long way to go. So far, Trump has by far been the master of the media, and he is rolling issues out slowly, one every month or so, rather than had the media a massive menu of specifics they can attack.

Cruz is my favorite, but I think he's one cycle away from being a big enough national figure to win. Trump is second. Walker is third, but he keeps leaving me wondering how and when he's going to "ramp up" his successful WI policies into a real national vision. Tell me WHY beating the union is important for WI, yes, but more important, tell my why we need to crush them nationally for our survival.

I think Trump would get the “crazy” vote but his anti- immigrant, anti-trade and anti-Clinton/Obama rants will depress Democrat numbers. Think Walker-Trump-Sanders (or Biden) race. I don’t think the Hildebeest makes it.

Trump 3rd party not as bad as it may sound.

Not sure if Bush would have won in 1992 sans Perot. See, for example, http://www.leinsdorf.com/perot.htm And the exit polls (and they’re not 100 percent reliable I know)indicated that more Perot voters would have gone for Clinton. Bush did dumb things (raise taxes, appoint David Souter to the Court, maybe even keep Quayle on as Veep) that cost him votes. BUT, and it’s a big BUT, Perot was not a conservative. He avoided social issues like kryptonite. If Trump goes 3rd party, it’ll be because he’s a mole for the Democratic Party.

Absolutely agree, but two problems for which I don't see solutions:
  1. Trump does not have the same likability factor as Reagan.
  2. There are a much higher percentage of American voters in the GIMME STUFF category today than in Reagan's time.
