Btw, I have seen the officers report. Not only did he lie, but so did his partner/co-conspirator.

Regardless of the best attempts of amateur legal "experts" to prejudge this case, the most complete truth can only come to light through a fair and open trial. It remains to be seen whether such a trial will be possible in this case.

I'm not convinced Officer Tensing did lie.

If you're not convinced by now, you never will be.

Both officers own words pretty much buried them.

Cops better start figuring out how to have these cameras become accidentally damaged during the arrest. FAST.

OR....lots of Cops gonna just say F it and quit.

then the citizens will have to shoot these punks....and most of us don’t have body cams.

Clearer & louder video clearly shows the “reach” was driver starting the car instead of getting out as told to. He was plainly trying to escape.

Cop over-reacted in a high-stress situation.
I can understand he was stressed over discovering the driver was guilty of various crimes of increasing degree, and a cop feels compelled to physically (with some degree of violence) stop a suspect from fleeing (which this driver plainly was about to).
If he let the driver go, he’d seem obligated to take vehicular chase - not a smart move in a city.
We don’t know if he had a Tazer, and I’m not clear on how useful that would be in the situation (say, getting zapped makes him stomp on the gas - not a smart move in a city).
Reaching in the car, with significant acceleration imminent, would be stupid.
Shooting the driver was obviously overkill (literally).

So...what should the cop have done regarding the imminent flight of a criminal suspect?

And now we know why.

You may think you know, but you don't know. Again, all of the facts available in this case have yet to be made public.

So there is evidence of dragging?

Am wondering if his shirt got snagged on the door latch or some such. He may have prematurely drawn on the driver, only to have his arm yanked and involuntarily fired. (Just mulling possibilities.)

From your link...
A CNN records search showed that Dubose had more than 60 arrests.

He was driving Sunday with a suspended license; it had been suspended indefinitely in January, the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles said. In total, his license had been suspended 37 times, his driving records show.

DuBose was living on borrowed time. All those priors and he had never been killed before? His time was up.

Right, because the LAST thing we want is for officers to be held accountable for their actions.

OR....lots of Cops gonna just say F it and quit.

Any officer who would quit because of the risk of actions like this case being caught on camera has no business being a police officer anyway.

I would say f it. Walking around playing the cop role with a monitor watching every move? I'd guess they're screwed and will need to start acting a bit more civil like cops should.

Otherwise there will be lots of cops in the joint in the future.

These guy clearly lied, attempted to coverup a really bad shoot, and they'll pay the big price.

If you're not convinced by now, you never will be.

That's not true at all. I refuse to prejudge a case based on a short, jumbled, one vantage point video. I await a fair and open trial when all the facts will be made public.

Both officers own words pretty much buried them.

Buried them of what? Even if they did lie in their reports, and I outlined above why it is too early to conclude this, they would only be guilty of making a false report. I describe in my posts #235 and #248 why Officer Tensing may not be guilty of the murder charge he currently faces.

No violent crimes. Most of these were traffic / suspended license violations.

There is only one reason or motive for these cops to lie on their own reports.

Come on.

Iiiiinteresting.

The stop was revealing a mounting number of escalating crimes.
Dubose obviously was attempting escape.

Ohio does not have a “three strikes” law, but does have escalating punishment for repeat offenders. Dubose may very well have feared a simple traffic stop rapidly escalating into years in prison.

Yup, living on borrowed time. In the heat of the moment, coupled with furtive movement and a jumpy inexperienced cop, his time ended.
Doesn’t justify the killing, but does explain how the situation moved close enough for that to happen.

I outlined above why it is too early to conclude this, they would only be guilty of making a false report.

No one is buying this. Certainly his own bosses, the DA, prosecutors who've viewed the reports and video 500x frame by frame, slow motion are not buying it.

Falsifying their own reports is now the least of their worries/charges. Trust me here.

I have the complete series, with original music (very rare) on DVD.

I'd kill for that. Where you do live? :-)

Funniest TV episode ever.

IMO, the best line ever said on TV is

"With God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly"

the way I read it, the shot was fired in self defense while an attempted murder by vehicle was in progress

the crime here was attempted vehicular homicide by the black driver

Seriously ???

The guy had his head blown off seconds after he started the car...

Cop was on the drivers door, he wasn't tangled up in the door and was no where near getting hurt by the vehicle......

Looks to me he pulled his gun and forgot he had his finger on the trigger and over reacted...

A body camera video Deters played for reporters showed Tensing running after the slowly rolling car after the stop. Deters said Tensing was not dragged by the car, as the officer had reported. Asked about a second police officer who supported Tensing's report of the incident, Deters said his office was investigating that.

Mathews said there is a second video that will show more of the incident, according to Fox 19.

Reporting there is a second video, likely from his partners body cam.

This could very likely be even more damaging with possible complete view of the stop.
