Jon Stewart's Lowest Moment: Hiroshima Makes Truman a War Criminal
NewsBusters ^ | August 6, 2015 | 1:16 AM EDT | Tom Blumer

How absolutely serendipitous it is that alleged comedian and actual White House propagandist Jon Stewart’s last broadcast of The Daily Show is today, August 6, the 70th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, Japan.

You see, Stewart, whose influence is especially nefarious when he is revising and distorting history for his relatively young audience, committed his most outrageous such act when, in a 2009 interview with Cliff May, he agreed that U.S. President Harry S. Truman should be considered a "war criminal" for approving that horrific but necessary bombing mission.

Here, for context, is the relevant eight-minute segment:

CLIFF MAY: We did do Hiroshima. Do you think Truman is a war criminal for that?

JON STEWART: Yeah.

CLIFF MAY: You do?

JON STEWART: Yeah.

CLIFF MAY: Okay.

JON STEWART: Here's what I think on the atom bomb. If you dropped an atom bomb 15 miles offshore, and you said "The next one's coming and hitting you," then I would think it's okay. To drop one on a city and kill 100,000 people, yeah, I think that's criminal.

CLIFF MAY: Okay, okay.

... CLIFF MAY: You think Truman was temporarily insane when he dropped the bomb?

JON STEWART: Yeah.

CLIFF MAY: He didn't think that if I send troops into Japan, we are going to lose a million lives, because that's what he thought, American lives, and at least a million Japanese lives, who will fight to the last man —

JON STEWART: I'm saying that war is, by definition, temporary insanity. So the things that happen there have to be looked at within the context of that.

CLIFF MAY: We're in a war! We're in a war!

Good riddance, Jon Stewart.

So help me, I will just save the moderators the chore of having to delete what I was going to post.

Same here...still, the amount of hypocrisy/lies coming from he and his ilk is getting to the critical stage of...enough is enough. We've let the Alinsky-ites control the narrative for too long, they've enriched themselves while turning America into a morally and financially bankrupt garbage can.

...perhaps it's time for a little bit of our own "fundamental transformation".

Demanding an affirmative action/Title IX type ideological balancing among media/academia would be a good start...followed by a thorough review of the close relationship between big corp. media and the judiciary, the District of Criminals cartel and federal reserve/banking system/Wall St.

Of course getting too close to any of these mafia-type criminal enterprises involves having folks willing to quite literally risk life and limb...

What's the alternative?...the cancer is spreading.

After all, too many have sacrificed everything to allow a selfish, sick, perverted ideology to bring it all down.

...tired of watching these satanic a-holes get away with pissing on their graves.

The real hard underlying truth is that the two bombs prevented the Japanese people from being virtually annihilated and reduced to the same status of today’s North Korea.

One has only to read the Japanese accounts of the dire circumstances of the home islands population. They were on the verge of starvation. Rations were drastically reduced with no food being imported. They were eating acorns when they could find them. Pulling up ditch weeds for food. Their young men were already dying in untold numbers. The losses of another million or more would have left with with a stunted postwar population with little chance of recovery for generations.

And the Japanese general staff was telling them to gather rocks, to sharpen sticks and farm tools to fend off the coming invaders. This across the land that had been devastated by the huge regular convenional bombing raids that did far greater damage with their incendiary loads. Their industrial base was crumbled into dust. An American naval blockade would have denied them fuel, food, and raw materials. Totally cut off from the rest of the world and winter coming on, a winter that would have killed many, many more. Freezing, starvation and disease was what was in store for them.

The Japanese should mark August 6 as the day that ended the insane war set upon them by their Emperor and his General Staff. Every post war advance and their economic rebirth with the attendant improvement in their health and living standard stems from those two bombs.

My advice for the Japanese is to kneel and bow to the rising sun in the east on August 6 and thank whatever god they worship for the mercy extended to them by the USA.

I believe warnings were dropped by the thousands but the Japanese Government would not let anyone read, let alone heed the warnings.

My Grandfather was a part of the island hopping campaign in the pacific(he was a marine). If Truman hadn’t dropped the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, my Grandfather would have been part of invasion force for Japan. I’m glad Truman dropped the bomb, otherwise my Grandfather might have been killed, and of course my Father wouldn’t have been born, nor would I. John Stewart is a useless sack of sh!t.

Don't defend. Go on the attack.

Declare that we should not have dropped the bombs and that we should have invaded instead. The fighting would probably have led to something close to a war of extermination and that we agree with the liberals that the extermination of 20,000,000 Japanese would be a good thing.

Let the libs choke on that one.

There are no “lowest moments” for libtards. There are just “lowest moment so far”. They will always dig a little deeper.

till they dig straight to Hell.

By his definition, almost any good strategic bombing is a war crime.

Lots of folks debate whether Bomber Harris is a war criminal for bombing Dresden.

I cannot for the life of me understand the Jewish culture in terms of their ability to squint at history, especially WWII, and especially American Jews.

I’m not sure which is worse, whether idiots like Jon Stewart are allowed to vote or that idiots like Jon Stewart are allowed to breed.

Mine too, indirectly.

My old man was in the South Pacific on an LST when the bombs were dropped. He figured his odds of living through the invasion of the home islands would have been 50/50 at best, having to be on a ship that ran right up to the shore to drop off tanks. I believe that my siblings and myself owe a great debt of gratitude to Harry for doing what he did.

To quote Capt. Frank Ramsey from “Crimson Tide”

“Drop that f***er, twice.”

My father was an island hopper as well with the Army. He was in the Americal Division which was to set invade the heavily defended island of Kyūshū. The nips would have used poisonous gas on them and hid out in the caves. I don’t think he would have lived to tell about it.

"My brother in his 40's thinks he is the bomb."

I've got a bro who's 56, and he thinks Stewart walks on water. He actually considers Stewart an excellent source of news and can't believe I don't listen to him or Colbert when he had his show.

August 6th is NOT “Hiroshima Day”!

It is the Great Feast of the Holy Transfiguration of our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ!!!!

http://oca.org/saints/lives/2015/08/06/102215-the-holy-transfiguration-of-our-lord-god-and-savior-jesus-christ

Those who emphasize “Hiroshima” over Transfiguration are usually anti-Christian activists who want to drive Christianity out of American life, and replace it with some sort of cultural Marxism.
