As pressure builds on Hillary Clinton to explain her official use of personal email while serving as secretary of state, she faced new complications Tuesday. It was disclosed her top aides are being drawn into a burgeoning federal inquiry and that two emails on her private account have been classified as “Top Secret.”
The inspector general for the Intelligence Community notified senior members of Congress that two of four classified emails discovered on the server Clinton maintained at her New York home contained material deemed to be in one of the highest security classifications - more sensitive than previously known.
The notice came as the State Department inspector general’s office acknowledged that it is reviewing the use of “personal communications hardware and software” by Clinton’s former top aides after requests from Congress.
“We will follow the facts wherever they lead, to include former aides and associates, as appropriate,” said Douglas Welty, a spokesman for the State Department’s inspector general.
Despite the acknowledgment, the State Department inspector general’s office has left numerous unanswered questions, including exactly who and what is being investigated. The office initially declined to comment and referred questions to the Intelligence Community inspector general’s office, which said it is not currently involved in any inquiry into aides and is being denied full access to aides’ emails by the State Department. Clinton, herself, is not a target.
The expanding inquiry threatens to further erode Clinton’s standing as the front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination. Since her reliance on private email was revealed in March, polls in crucial swing states show that increasing numbers of voters say Clinton is not honest and trustworthy, in part, because of her use of private emails.

Anything spoken or written by a Secretary—cabinet-level appointeee—would be assumed to be at least Confidential.

Imagine if she put WH communications on a private server? I would like to think that anyone squeaky enough to pass a Yankee White investigation for the White House Communications Agency would blow the whistle on something like that. After watching the 0bama Regime from the outside, I am no longer so sure they would.

Legal point:
Often the distinctions used when discriminating between the classification of information as either Secret or Top Secret include both the AMOUNT of damage that can be done to US interests, personnel, property, defense capabilities, etc, by the inappropriate disclosure of that classified materiel, and often more importantly, the IMMEDIACY of that potentially deadly harm.
There are higher classifications of protected information than TS, but if TS materiel is compromised, it would be expected that great harm, physical and often deadly, could happen to American and Americans IN THE IMMEDIATE FUTURE, often a matter of hours.
For example, information that could be used against us in a few hours would include the locations of certain fissionable weapons, their transportation schedules to and from Pantex, locations of biological agents kept in Cat. IV bio containment laboratories in order to prepare vaccines against the possible enemy use of those bio agents against us, and much more.
The TS materiel compromised by Ms. Clinton probably covers other issues, not nucs or bio, but the above shows the seriousness of this compromise. The word “compromise” is operative here, because once classified materiel is even possibly in the hands of enemy powers, it is always assumed to known to them and therefore being used against us.

.... and of course, this was after it had been supposedly “scrubbed” by Ms. Clinton’s aides and lawyers (who were not cleared to receive such information), held in insecure locations, and had all “personal” information removed.
