Sen. Rand Paul released an attack ad Wednesday calling into question fellow Republican candidate Donald Trumps conservative credentials, prompting Trump to issue a lengthy response going after not only Paul the politician, but his ability, or lack thereof, to play a certain sport.
Pauls ad, which his campaign says will play in New Hampshire and Iowa through the weekend, puts together clips of some of Trumps past political statements, including some from a 2004 interview in which he said, In many cases, I probably identify more as Democrat. He also contends, It just seems the economy does better under the Democrats than Republicans. The ad goes on to show footage of Trump saying he is a liberal regarding healthcare and supports universal healthcare, which came up during last Thursdays Republican debate. Trump has said he no longer supports it.
In Pauls ad, Trump also has very nice things to say about Bill and Hillary Clinton. He says he likes them both a lot and thinks Hillary is doing a great job. It is not clear if he is referring to her time as senator from New York or secretary of state. Trumps response to Pauls ad begins as one might expect from The Donald, given past statements, but then it takes an unusual turn.

Yup. Not sure Sanders could really win the nomination, but he will certainly force Hillary to focus on his issues which feature protectionism.
Interesting how conventional wisdom can often be so completely wrong. Can’t say how long these dynamics will persist, but it clearly isn’t working out well for Rand.
Notice, everyone, a change in attack strategy here!
No more name-calling, “loser” or “pathetic” or whatever.
Now it’s biting facts and sarcasm.
Obviously there was some kind of media strategy meeting.
Agreed. We need good men and women in the House and Senate. Everybody can’t be President.
Well he was only 59 years old when he said this. Nothing to see here.
...which came up during last Thursdays Republican debate. Trump has said he no longer supports it.
Well sorta.... He currently thinks it's great in Canada and Scotland and it would have been great back then in our country.
Ahhh...nothing to see here too.
if he destroys the GOP-E, no small feat, it’s all good.
We’ll go from there. Hopefully this occurs before the nomination.
I have always believed that the GOP-E must be destroyed before attacking the Left, and you have to use the weapons you have.
Are you insinuating the footage in the ads are fake?
Trump statement:
Rand Paul is doing so poorly in the polls he has to revert to old footage of me discussing positions I no longer hold. As a world-class businessman, who built one of the great companies with some of the most iconic real estate assets in the world, it was my obligation to my family, my company, my employees and myself to maintain a strong relationship with all politicians whether Republican or Democrat. I did that and I did that well.
Unless you are a piece of unyielding granite, over the years positions evolve, as they have in my case. Ronald Reagan, as an example, was a Democrat with a liberal bent who became a conservative Republican.
Recently, Rand Paul called me and asked me to play golf. I easily beat him on the golf course and will even more easily beat him now, in the world in the politics.
Senator Paul does not mention that, after trouncing him in golf, I made a significant donation to the eye center with which he is affiliated.
To me, its already down to four (not necessarily my preferences, just my hunch as to how things will play out): Cruz, Walker, Fiorina, Kasich.
And, he did give the eye center $10,000. So, this tells me Paul is under McConnell’s orders to try and destroy Trump - to his own demise. How foolish. He may never get another penny from Trump for a well-deserved organization. Paul does great things in 3rd world countries.
That video is hilarious.
Tells you a lot about Rand Paul as a man. Trump hasn’t said anything really bad about him. And the libertarian midget goes on the attack. Even after golfing with him and accepting $10k checks for his eye center. Pure sleaze.
Sure. Attacking a candidate on the issues is now considered pure sleaze.
Isn’t it?
None of them are Bush. So they probably won’t happen. Please consider this scenario-——http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2015/08/09/gope-2016-road-map-to-victory-tree-house-challenge/

Howard asked Trump who he thinks will be the next president but Trump didn't want to say. He would say that he thinks Rudy Giuliani is a very capable man though. He said he hopes that it's John McCain and Rudy against Hillary Clinton. He said he thinks that a woman could be president and she wouldn't do any worse than President Bush has done so far.
Quoting someone’s own statements back to them is not “saying anything bad” and “attacking.” This is omething you Trump supporters seem to have a hard time understanding.
Or he decided to be president, his best shot was to win the Republican primary by going on Fox and replacing his past liberal positions with new conservative ones.
When is the last time trusting someone running for political office worked out for you? I'm going to go with the candidate who gives me the least reasons not to trust him. So that will be the one who holds the positions I like and has flip-flopped on the least of them.
Yep — When Rand Paul backed McTurtle over Matt Bevin, he showed his true RINO-RAT colors.
