Sorry, Military Is No Place For Gender-Based Social Experiments (Excellent)

Two women have become the first to graduate from Army Ranger School. Therefore, women should be integrated into combat units. That's the "logic" we're hearing.

Perceptions about "whether or not women are capable — physically, mentally or otherwise — those are now broken down," an ex-Obama administration official, whose claim to fame is having piloted military cargo aircraft, told one newspaper. "What's left here now would be the barriers about our social perceptions."

Gee, that was easy! At least, if your goal is to feminize the military. But let's say that the goal is combat mission accomplishment with minimal casualties. Now you have to start taking into account all sorts of pesky factors that two women graduating from a physically tough course doesn't address.

A distracted army, a sexually distracted army is conquerable. This is no time to serve in the military.

We have 20 million illegal aliens in this country in part because male and female Border Patrol Agents are humping like rabbits out in the desert. We lost our border and we are going to lose our wars.

I know all the arguments about physical requirements going on here, and while they are absolutely true, they’re not the best reason to keep women out of combat.

These moronic liberals forget that our enemies do not recognize women as equal (or superior, in the case of 3rd wave feminists) to men.

THEY WILL RAPE THEM.

Wait until that first POW rape is reported. Then all of a sudden it WILL be the woman’s fault, according to the social justice imbeciles.

Didn’t they lower the standards so a woman could pass?

Seems like I read that somewhere.

‘These moronic liberals forget that our enemies do not recognize women as equal (or superior, in the case of 3rd wave feminists) to men.’

The people that really believe these things will never get closer to the Army or marines than walking past a recruiting station. Those who will endure the full measure of the cost of a distracted and un combat ready force will be the enlisted ranks in the combat arms, especially the lower enlisted grades, and the company grade officers and staff NCO’s in combat occupation specialties. These are people , regardless of gender, that liberals consider as less than disposal items. The USA is being staged to endure what it did in Korea from June 1950 until Ridgeway stabilized the near collapse after the Chinese November 1950 offensive. I do have to wonder what the effect, if any, will be here in the states if the Chicoms or the Iranians or some other group such as Isis captures a fair number of US female soldiers. The so-called leadership of the US Army doesn't believe this can happen . Well, you know how well the conventional Beltway wisdom stacks up to reality.

Congress HAS NEVER LIFTED the ban on women in combat. Just about law that Congress renigged on and let Obozo call the shots. A nation that sends it’s women to fight it’s wars is not fit to be called a nation. These cowardly general officers that put their careers over mission effectiveness are the reason this nonsense is happening. They know that women are not physically or mentally capable of being in front line combat positions, certainly not any Special Forces. A 145 pound 14 year old boy is stronger than a 21 year old, 160 pound woman.

I understand that the 2 female graduates of the ranger school failed twice, that three (?) were given special permission only rarely granted to start over from the beginning and that then they made it through.

This means that they learned what to expect and were able to adapt. When first confronted with hardship they didn’t make it. And a second time they didn’t pass. They did on the 3rd try. It’s like getting to retake a school test and being acclaimed for passing it the third time around.

That said, it is impressive that they had the physical stamina to get through it even one of the three times.

However, the real lesson is that following repeated exposure to the expectations they were able to meet them at some level of passing.

Since combat is chaos, and the rangers specialize in that chaotic moment, it’s important to remember that there are no ‘do-overs’ allowing learning and adaptation.

Those who know reality know that ultimately this is all about getting a female a 4 star combat command, service chief, or CJCS slot. Never having seen combat, they will lead combat.

Nothing like social experimentation when the nation is on the line.

"when I see women playing in the NFL I will believe the crap they are putting out"

Going by analysis of track meet scores, the average overall athletic difference between adult males and females is about ten percent. That might not seem like a big difference, but it's actually too huge for females to overcome.

Many females can outperform males in a number of skill areas, but when combined with athleticism, females are at a tremendous disadvantage compared to males.

If I am just one percent better than another person at a particular sport, I am going to beat that person more than just one time out of one hundred. I would probably win 55-60% of the contests.

If I am five percent better than another person in (pick the sport), I'm going to crush that person on a regular basis. More like 80-90% of the time. If the gap is around ten percent, that means there are virtually no members of the weaker group who could hope to get to the elite echelon i.e. male pros in any sport.

My older brother was about a ten percent better athlete than me. I could not beat him in any one on one sport unless he let me. (And he hated losing more than any person I've ever met.) In the hundreds or thousands of basketball or table tennis games we played against one another, I only won one time. On my birthday. You figure it out. And I was an above average athlete when I was young.

Even in a sport like golf that does not require running or jumping, no females have arisen since the dawn of the pro game who were good enough to challenge male pros i.e PGA pros.

That would mean it's highly likely the women who "passed" the Ranger course did not undergo the same kinds of tests the males underwent. Either that or things were watered down. The physical gap is just too great when large numbers of candidates are involved.

I understand what you are saying but many people can not.

I will give an example. I remember when Chris Evert was married to a British tennis player. Chris was ranked any where from number one to maybe 7 or 8 during that time.

I saw an interview where the woman reporter asked Chrissy how did her husband, who was ranked something like 135 in the world, liked being married to a woman who could beat him in tennis.

Chis told her that she could not beat her husband in tennis. She said that if he really concentrated, she would not win a point.

Of course you have the Williams Sisters who frankly look like they have taken a huge amount of steroids.

There was a poster on a previous thread who talked about this.

He went to college on a track scholarship. He was a good sprinter, scholarship caliber, but not the fastest on his team. He ran a 10.4 100......

Which still is good enough to beat the fastest woman in the world. Enough said.

"Of course you have the Williams Sisters who frankly look like they have taken a huge amount of steroids."

There is a common trope among idiot sportswriters that the best female tennis players can beat any male player not in the top two hundred in the world. So some years ago after they lost at the Australian Open, the Williams sisters challenged any male players there not in the top 200 to a match. Some German pro (name ?)who was ranked way down the list took up the sisters on their challenge.

Playing both sisters in succession he easily trounced them both. Afterwards he poured salt on the wounds by saying he was a little tired at the time and took it easy on the girls. The sisters were quoted as saying they could not believe how easily he got to their shots, and they couldn't cope with his power.

Now Serena is probably the best combination of power and speed I've ever seen in a female tennis player. But even she has had many close contests or lost to other female tennis players. In a five set match against the male pros, she'd be lucky to win one set against any male in the top one thousand. The athleticism gap is just too great.

I remember a story about a very good male, celebrity amateur player playing a match against a pro friend who was on the tour. The celebrity told the pro to play as hard as he could and not let up because the celebrity wanted to see exactly how he stacked up against pros. It wasn't until the second set that the celebrity managed to get a point.

I also knew a very good amateur player in my area who played one of the Gullickson brothers who were from my area. Again, the amateur, who could serve over 100 mph (and get it in), was crushed. He won a few points on his serve, but that was it.
